delicious sushi

we had maki sushi with vegetables and tofu pockets filled with rice. It was really delicious and the tea we got was also really great! The restaurant was really cozy and the staff was very nice

Lovely place

Stopped here after a full day of walking in Nikko and had a brilliant time. It’s a lovely and quiet place, very cozily and traditionally decorated with tatami and low tables.

They have an English menu and they were super helpful with choosing the vegan options and even changing the miso soup to kombu dashi and tofu for us (it usually contains shrimp).

We had the kanpyo (dried and aged gourd slices) sushi rolls which I had never had before - the taste and texture were fantastic, a must try! The yuba was great as well.

I’m really not sure about the name so be aware, my maps apps seem to think it’s called Komekichi Kouzushi and as far as my translate app was able to tell, the kanji on the banner outside read Akira, but the pin on the Happy Cow map is accurate, unlike my Japanese.

Pros: Delicious yuba, Run by a lovely family, Staff super helpful

Very tasty and surprisingly large choice

Great selection, especially the "mountain vegetable tempura" was so good, we ordered a second round. We were lucky and got seated in a tatami room. The staff was very friendly, spoke English and understand that we were vegetarian.

Note that the burdock is missing in the English translation, it's called 山ごぼう and you should try it.

Pros: Big selection , Yuba, English menu
