Decent - Edit
Clear labels for what is vegan and what is not. However of the dishes I had were not quite as I expected. I wasn’t a big fan of the idli or medu vada but liked the dosa

Excellent flavors, casual atmosphere - Edit
Completely satisfying rich, spicy southern Indian in a packed, noisy space (which is honestly what you want with kids). Attentive, kind staff. Still full 8 hours later. Can't want to go back.

Terrible experience, extremely poor customer service, Rude staff, not tasty food, oily food - Edit
The atmosphere is family oriented but is very loud.
Read moreFood is just about ok- not that great!
We experienced extremely poor service at NYC branch - went there for family meal. At first they forgot serving my daughter’s plain dosa, then upon reminding they served the food Cold - I guess it must have been sitting at the counter to be served but they just didn’t bother to serve and we received no apologies for this btw!! When we complained that the food served was cold, they reluctantly agreed to replace but the replacement took so much longer that everyone else at the table had finished eating and my daughter had to eat alone. She lost interest in eating as a result and didn’t finish her food !!
Terrible experience, extremely poor customer service, Rude staff !!!
It was 90 dollar rip-off experience for us!
0 stars would be our rating but there is no option to give 0 star, and hence only 1!

Good all-vegetarian Indian chain - Edit
This place is part of a large chain offering all vegetarian Indian food. This area of NYC once had plenty of all-vegetarian Indian places; this (along with Pongal, Vatan, and Kailish Parbat) is one of the few that remains. The vegan items are clearly marked on the menu--and the majority of the menu seems to be vegan.
Read moreI personally am not a huge fan of Indian food. I asked for something non-spicy--but even the non-spicy dish was spicier than I prefer. If you do like Indian food, however, you would probably love this place.
Pros: All vegetarian, many vegan options, good service, nice surroundings , waiter-served meal

As Good as Ever - Edit
I have been here many times and it is always good. They were able to make me a non-diary version of their lunch special this tine, which had about ten different small dishes with rice and bread. Highly recommended .

Mediocre food - Edit
I had a) Onion Rava masala dosa and b)Vegetable Biryani.
Read morea) Onion Rava masala dosa - Dosa was lacking onions, it was crispy, extremely thin, should have been a bit thicker (it was thinner than regular dosa, like paper thin), and only a small portion of potatoe stuffing. I do not understand why they are skimping on potatoe stuffing.
b) Vegetable biryani - it was not good, if I go there again, I will not order this dish. I had Vegetable Biryani at another restaurant, it was delicious, it had cashews & raisins, the cook who made that dish was an expert at cooking.
Big problem with Indian restaurants is they are lacking in service, food taste or decor; This one had good service, ok decor, but food taste is mediocre (I am judging only what I ordered and what I observed). Looks like their regular dosa is fine, from the looks of what others ordered.
Indian cooking needs excellent skills developed over a number of years, because so many ingredients and complications are involved. Chef makes a huge difference in any restaurant, with Indian cooking much more.

I need to update. I called and spoke to the manager next day, he acknowledged and offerred me a full credit, but I refused and indicated my call was simply to let him know the problem; looks like he is still giving me a full credit.
Based on this, it is good they are listening to their customers; so chances are there for improvement.
Pros: Service, Cleanliness, Decor
Cons: Mediocre certain dishes, Quality
