OMG, vegan donuts and ice cream!!! Scoop 'n Dough is a short 10-minute walk from our vacation apartment in the Barrio-Alto, which is both a good thing and a bad-thing: Good, in that they make the best doughnuts (vegan or not!) around; Bad, in that the temptation is way too close!!! (I'm gonna look like a doughnut if I keep eating 'em!! Lol!!) These aren't the cheapest of fried-dough; but, I've no doubt they're the best tasting! All the fancy ones are terrific, but my fave is the simple Madagascar vanilla-glazed ones. All their doughnuts are extra-large, as well. I'm not much of an ice cream eater; however, I had a cup of their dark chocolate one and, Oh-Boy!, it was scrumptious!!! The shop is located in a prime spot near a Broadway-like theater and the touristy Rossio plaza, so they tend to sell-out fast. Sadly, they don't open early (at 11:00a), so I suggest picking-up some of these doughy jewels early to take home for your morning coffee. If you love doughnuts, RUN don't walk to Scoop 'n Dough, pronto!!! :D

Scoop ’n Dough is a must-try place, especially for those following a 100% plant-based (vegan) lifestyle. As a vegan, sweets and pastries don’t often come my way, but I stumbled upon this gem on Happy Cow while searching for nearby restaurants.

The selection of vegan treats is absolutely incredible. The donuts, in particular, are a sight to behold—the thickest I’ve ever seen. And let’s not forget the ice cream! My mission today was to indulge in some donuts before our early train ride to Porto.
With over a dozen different styles to choose from, I couldn’t resist trying two: two Madagascar Vanilla glazed donuts, one raspberry (red berry) with cream glaze and blueberry filling, and another chocolate glaze with chocolate Ganesh filling.
These donuts are simply divine. The yeast-raised donuts stand about 2 to 3 inches tall, and the fillings and glazes are bursting with flavor. They’re not too sweet, and the flavors are immediately recognizable.
They were the best donuts I’ve ever had, hands down. I can’t wait to return to Lisbon and savor more of these delectable treats.

Update to last year’s review: Still great doughnuts and ice cream. The pistachio doughnut was a more cakey texture. The passionfruit/macarons and raspberry-cheesecake ice creams were lovely. The salted caramel crème brûlée doughnut (stuffed, with crispy top) was excellent. The blueberry-stuffed pannacotta-topped doughnut was spectacular. The banoffee-pie doughnut was also delicious. I treated myself to a gift box of six macarons, all different flavours, all scrumptious, perfectly delicate.

2023 review: Fancy doughnuts and delectable ice creams, cookies and macarons. The pumpkin-spice ice cream was excellent. The two doughnuts I tried were wonderful. I must visit Lisbon for longer, so I can make my way through all the flavours of ice cream - and I haven't tried the macarons yet!

Their doughnut selection is really impressive and decadent. We tried two of their doughnuts and found that in one of them, the dough was too stiff and dry. The other one, however, was great and we loved it.

A doughnut is a complex piece of confectionery. It needs to be fluffy, chewy, airy and crisp. On top it needs to be sweet and flavourful.
Read moreScoop nails the flavour and creativity of the different donuts, but the dough fails to impress. It is too dense and heavy, which makes it hard to eat and chew.
The macaron was great, but the drinks we had were not good (matcha in particular was very low quality).
Attention was a 10/10 and we still have not tried the ice cream.

Die Auswahl an veganen Donuts ist überwältigen und alle sehen fantastisch aus. Ebenfalls ist die Auswahl an hervorragend Milch Eissorten hervorragend. Da alles sehr deftig ist, kann man leider nicht viel davon essen. Trotzdem ist es definitiv ein Besuch wert!
