Food was delicious but service is lacking - Edit
While the food is very good, the service wasn’t superb. Granted it was during dinner time, but at least treat customers like more than a tab. Also seating is really confined to the point of little to no personal space.

Great experience!!! - Edit
I had an amazing lunch at Seed today! I have been on a road trip with my boyfriend for the past 3 weeks in the south and eating well, but aching for some good veg food. I was so excited to check out an entirely veg-friendly restaurant while he was working today. I found Seed on happy cow and walked there from my hotel in the French Quarter (about a mile). Felt safe during the entire walk and got great and speedy service at the restaurant.
Read moreI got the "standard juice", artichoke cakes, and BBQ sandwich. The food came out incredibly quickly and was soooo good. The artichoke cakes were light and crispy and the sandwich was smothered in good southern bbq sauce with a crisp apple slaw on it.
To address some cons that others have written, it was a little pricy, but I also went a little overboard bc I was excited! You can get one dish for $10-12. I was also there in the middle of the day, so service and food arrival were speedy!

Great stuff! - Edit
We were the last people seated before the kitchen closed due to Hurricane Nate. We were so glad we made it. Everything we tried was delicious. Wish we had time to go back again to try more things. A real gem, very friendly service, too.

a very bright spot in a dark cuisine landscape - Edit
This place is a MUST for any visiting and local vegan, and a great place to bring omnivore friends and family. Eclectic and inviting dining experience, great service, sonic speed kitchen, fantastic music (via Pandora) and a wide array of dishes that present local flavors and cuisine in a delectable and plant based manner. From Po boys to beignets...OMG. I had the artichoke cakes every visit and wish I could wrangle the recipe. I brought 4 omnivore colleagues along with 1 other vegan and 2 vegetarians and every plate went back to the kitchen practically licked clean.

Spending holiday in New Orleans and of course I thought I'd have a hard time finding Vegan options. We walked two miles and it was TOTALLY worth it. My boyfriend ISNT vegan and after every bite he would let out a"damn this is good" "mmmhhmm". We got the nachos, southern fried Po boy, and the chocolate mousse.

Came from out of town and was really excited to try this place - have heard good things. While the food was really good, the service and the wait are why this review has 3 stars.
Read moreFood wise, we had the artichoke cakes which were fantastic. Then we got the southern fried po boy, which was also really good. It came with the "side of the day" which was luke warm quinoa - it wasn't bad but it wasn't anything to write home about. Finally I got the vegan beignets which again were good but not great. They almost seemed not fried enough - not crispy on the outside like a traditional beignet.
We waited for well over an hour and the server didn't do anything about it even after we spoke with her and after other tables we're served before us when they ordered after us. It was strange.

nice place. it very small portions - Edit
Good vibe to this place and the staff is very friendly. The problem I had is for the prices they charge the portions are quite small. I shouldn't be hungry after spending $25. The food was good not great. I love to support vegan restaurants but this place needs to fix the portion size or develop a reputation of being expensive with little food.

good, not overwhelming - Edit
i wanted to love that place as i met one of the chefs and was invited to come.
Read morethe starter (deep fried tofu with barbecue sauce) was delicious! seriously! could have had that as a main and not be bored.
then i had the coconut burger. the patty, again, was amazing! but the burger had 2 slices of tomato and some lettuce. that's it. the bun was ok, but not special. i didn't really like the sauce it came with, but fortunately some leftover of the barbecue sauce from the starter. without it, the burger would have been insanely dry. the salad that came along isn't worth mentioning.
i'd much rather prefer seeing the coconut patty turned into something more exciting. maybe part of a salad or served with veggies/potatoes/fries.
my friends had tasteless spaghetti pomodoro (with great eggplant, came minutes after the other food though , therefore not well timed) and a raw pad thai that was also without much flavour (i've never seen anyone put that much hot sauce on a dish!) :(
both burger and pad thai were tiny! without a starter i would have left starving.
it's sad cause the place is lovely, the service alright even though not very attentive (not once were we asked if everything was ok during eating, only afterwards) and parts of the dishes actually very nice and innovative.
there's potential, but that's that. i don't really get the hype.
Pros: huge menu, fast , some really nice bits within the dishes
Cons: not much taste, tiny portions

Good Vegan food in NOLA - Edit
so happy we found this place after some truly awful meals around NOLA. Maybe the least vegan friendly city I have encountered so far. However this place is a great spot. On the way into the garden district with loads of amazing options for breakfast, brunch or lunch. We had vegan chili cheese fries which we were soooo excited about...they were tasty. Also had the club sandwich . They also do some more traditional Cajun/creole style food in a vegan way e.g. Gumbo. Friendly service, modern dining environment and a WHOLE menu of choice! Any vegan in NOLA should visit this place!

Excellent food, service...... ok. - Edit
It's always great to have a menu where everything is vegan! (What a luxury it is to be "torn" over multiple choices!) Their menu is rather extensive, with options ranging from healthy to somewhat indulgent. It was a nice surprise to discover they also have a bar! I chose the nachos with grilled seitan for my lunch/dinner and a vodka cocktail with mint and berries, the name currently eludes me. Both were excellent and arrived to the table quickly! I also took an order of begniets to go. They were ok but I take the blame for that as I waited too long to eat them....
Read moreService was a little odd and that's my only "gripe". Despite slow business, the server did not check back at all nor was I thanked for coming in (or even a simple "bye!"). In fact, it felt borderline unwelcoming. I don't expect a chatty server in the least but basic points of service requires little effort on the part of the server and goes a long way. Despite this, the server was otherwise competent, communicating the specials and quick with the check.
The location is also off the beaten tourist path. I did walk from the French Quarter but some patrons may prefer to take some kind of public transportation.
Overall, a great place to check out!!
(Also, there is a cute vegan gift shop next door!)

Nice little place - Edit
I was in New Orleans for a conference at the conference center. From checking menus at nearby places I found that New Orleans isn't particularly vegetarian friendly. I was excited to find a place that had cajun inspired vegan cuisine just a block from my hotel.
Read moreFirst impressions was that I loved the decorations in the place. There was cool, bright artwork of animals all over that I enjoyed looking at as I was dining alone. I ordered the eggplant po'boy. The taste of the sandwich was very good but I was a little disappointed there was not more on it. There were two fairly thin slices of eggplant but they tasted really good, as did the rest of the toppings. I saw other people who ordered the tofu po'boy and I would probably try that if I went back, although I was also tempted to try the barbecued seitan sandwich. I also ordered beignets and I was not impressed and they were kind of expensive, so I wouldn't do that again. Overall I really liked the place and will absolutely want to go back if I am in New Orleans again.
Pros: Great flavors., Nice theme and atmosphere., A chance to try cajun food for vegetarians.
Cons: Small portions for price., Beignets were not great., Lighting in the restaurant was dark.

I wasn't impressed by Seed, which was disappointing because so many people recommended it. The service was really bad and the food was so-so. I really enjoyed the atmosphere- they have quotes painted on wood hanging up around the restaurant. I had the avocado club sandwich, which wasn't worth the price.
