Best Oreo Cheesecake ever - Edit
We went for lunch, apertisers were great, main course also but the dessert were definetly best that we had in a long time.. Kids had chocolate muffins with cherry and we had oreo cheesecake which was just amazing..

Wonderful vegan option in Lima! - Edit
The food was great and the atmosphere was quaint. The servers don't speak much English though luckily it's vegan so I didn't have to ask as many questions. I tried the two famous Lima items, Pisco sour (they make it without eggs) and ceviche (zucchini, mushroom and avocado).

My favourite vegan restaurant in the city, I eat there often and I’ve taken non vegan mates who really enjoyed the food too. Their daily menu is really good most of the time and their vegan sushi is the best I’ve had.

La mayoría de los platos que he comido en Seitan han sido ricos, a excepción de la hamburguesa que no me gusto mucho, creo que deberían cambiar el pan, pero en general la comida la hacen bastante bien. El local por el otro lado, debería ser un poco mas ordenado y limpio.

One of the best vegan places I've ever eaten at - Edit
I am from California so I have eaten at some amazing vegan restaurants in the last couple years. When I decided to stay in Lima for a little over a week I figured vegan options at restaurants were few and far between so I went to HappyCow to see if there were any options in my area. On my first night in Lima, I decided to try Seitan Urban Bistro since it was so close to my hostel. From the moment I walked in I was greeted warmly and both the drink and food menu had so many options it was hard to choose. I ordered a cocktail and crispy seitan over mashed potatoes. First of all, my waitress brought over a little basket of bread, olive oil, and tapenade so I was already impressed. Next came the cocktail which was beautiful and my food which easily looked like it came out of a magazine it looked so stunning. The meal was so delicious and was actually filling which is quite a great thing when previously my options were rice and veggies at other restaurants in Lima. Once the remainder of my meal was boxed since I was so full, I was presented two small bite sized brownies which again were complimentary. I am in town for one more week and I promise I will be returning to this little gem. To make things even better a cocktail and huge plate for one came to about $10 US. I urge anyone vegan or otherwise to consider stopping by this restaurant if you are visiting Peru, it won't be a disappointment.

I had the California rolls (very good) and an Asian-themed noodle dish. The food was good and service was prompt, but there were only four main entrees to choose from and the menu is Spartan.

This place has a lot of promise, but it fell short on execution. Let’s start with the nachos and cheese. The thick cheese was served refrigerator cold. Who does that? That should be against the law. Of course the chips were not heated which would’ve been OK if the queso was hot or warm. The sliders were really excellent, but the buns were cold and not toasted, and if it was me in the kitchen or making it for myself, I always toast the buns. I admit that is nitpicky. But read on. I had the Asian stirfry. Do not order it. The fried rice concoction was premade and had little or no vegetables and no taste and was served at room temperature. On top were the tofu cubes which were deep-fried and adequate. I had to ask her for soy sauce to give it some flavor. My girlfriend had a mashed potato and gravy with Seitan steak on top. Again, who serves cold gravy and cold mashed potatoes? The seitan steak had no flavor. With all of the new mock meat products that are out there, their version of seitan meat has fallen way behind. But OK, it’s Lima Peru and I don’t expect groundbreaking. I just expect simple care to be taken with their execution. Also, the Sushi is only served on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Give it a shot but manage your expectations. I’m here for the month and will not be back. There are much better vegan restaurants in town.

I came here during the day while it was really hot outside, but only a few tables were shaded, and they were taken. So I went to sit inside, where it was cool but quite dark.
Read moreI really liked the seitan burger I ordered! It came with potato wedges and salad (the dressing on the salad was amazing).
The only thing that was off was their mayonaise- they seem to put a green herb in it which isn't exactly nice, and so I had to skip it out.
Overall, a yummy meal but the cafe needs to offer more shading on the outside tables, or make the inside brighter

I was worried from the pictures here that the portions wouldn’t be filling, but the hamburguesa de seitan was sooo filling (I like to eat a lot). Lots of thick potatoes and a side salad with a tasty sweet dressing, probably the only salad I’ve ever actually enjoyed in Peru.
