Best vegan food I have come across in South America

Eating at Seitan - Urban Bistro was what made me want to sign up to Happy Cow just so i could share how fantastic our experience was.

The service was exceptional, the staff amazingly friendly and the food simply exquisite. Don't be put off by the price rating given by happy cow, the meals are incredible value, especially given their gourmet nature.

Get here early in your trip, you will want to return.

One of the best vegan restaurants in Lima

Went there 2 times in March 2016 and will definitely go again soon. The restaurant offers vegan "Haute Cuisine" but with an affordable cost.
In fact, the daily menu (S/15) is a fairly reasonable price for many restaurants in the area, but Seitan offers a VERY good quality. Even the meals out of the daily menu are not that expansive (around S/14-18, maybe more)

First time I had the chickpeas curry, which was good but with too much coco milk for me. The service was excellent also.
Second time I had the daily menu, which included bread (with oil, salt and a paste made from olives and almonds), starter (I had the pair of mini-nems, excellent and fresh), a main course (pasta and mushrooms sauce with a bit of asparagus, also excellent), a drink (pineapple juice) and a "postrecito" (very small dessert, much more like a promotion for the brownie they sell)

But what definitely got my attention and love is the "coulant de chocolate", the best I ever had (including in France) and that comes with a home-made ice-cream (lucuma, fig, strawberry, etc.). It is at S/12 which is totally acceptable for a dessert that good!

I really love the fact they succeeded to offer a very good cuisine but without putting high prices, I hope they'll be able to stay affordable for everyone because I'd enjoy to bring non-vegan friends there and prove them you can eat better than in any other restaurant in Lima and for a good price too.

The EXCELLENT 'coulant de chocolate'. Not only the chef studied in France, he also took the best of it, and made it better. (The fig ice-cream is better if you really like the taste and texture of fig, otherwise, I'd suggest the lucuma flavour) at Seitan Urban Bistro in Lima

The best Vegan restaurant in Peru

I am from Lima Peru. In Lima there's not a lot of vegan/vegetarian restaurants. Most of them are located in Miraflores or in Lince district. I've visited almost of them, but let me say that Seitan is by far the best vegan restaurant in Lima. It's not big nor small. In lunch time there's a menu that cost 15 soles (5 dollars depending to exch rate). ALways have 3 options of entrees, 2 options of main dishes and a tiny dessert. At night vegan high cuisine begins (open W, T, F and Sat). Chef Santiago Santolalla shows his skills learn in France and you can notice. You can tell when a chef is running his own restaurant by true passion. Cost of dinner between $5 to $10 (just one). No more words, try it and if you have the chance to talk with Santiago or his father Rafael, let me tell you, you will be happy.
