Exceptional food - Edit
Exceptional service and outstanding food from the vegan menu. One of the best Chinese vegan meals we've had. Beautiful and stylish restaurant, too. Portions were very generous. Definitely recommended.

Fancy meal for Special Occasions - Edit
I booked this restaurant for a family birthday meal of which 4 of us out of 10 would be vegan. The lady was so helpful over the phone reassuring me that a vegan selection of similar dishes would be provided.
Read moreWhen we arrived we were seated in a private area surrounded by a beautiful cherry blossom tree up in the balcony which gave us a very grand view of the restaurant below. We had our own waiter who oversaw all our needs and was very funny.
All the dishes looked delicious but the vegan ones were exceptional.
We were all really happy and enjoyed the meal immensely.
Pros: Separate vegan menu, Helpful staff who understand dietary requirements , Beautiful interior

The food here was amazing. Separate vegan menu. We were even given our own private room for the 5 of us too. Aubergine was amazing. Very pretty faux cherry tree decorations from ceiling.

They have a separate vegan menu so you don't have to scratch your head thinking about what's vegan and what's not. It's on the pricier side though and there are a couple of menu items you'd likely get cheaper somewhere else.

Best vegan Chinese food in Southampton - but spenny as heck! - Edit
The first thing you notice about Shanghai is how contrapuntal the art-deco decor is when mixed with the D&B music that pulsates through the entire evening. Personally, I think it’s a low-key vibe that attempts to captures (and softens) the spirit or Shanghai clubs. But, if you’re expecting soft piano music to accompany your meal, don’t come!
Read moreThe food is undeniably great and their mock meat is a cut above your average, but the prices of some of the vegetable teaches is ridiculous. Having said that, I would recommend their salt and pepper aubergine wholeheartedly (though the portion sizes have diminished as of late).
The cocktails are excellent and lovingly made by the staff, including one particulate handsome top-knotted barman who definitely isn’t my flatmate.
