Best falafel. Fresh salad bar and amazing (!) spicy carrot!

This falafel is so nice, as well as the fluffy and fresh pitas. I could eat this every day! The spicy carrot is the best thing in that super fresh salad bar, but I love everything.

Pros: Amazing vegan options, try the tahini, Amazing fries , Large salad is a whole meal for just 6euros

Cons: No cons

goed falafel/horrid frites

yo I mean the falafel here is quite nice but the menu is a bit unorganized and for the type of food it is, it’s a bit overpriced. 7.45 for een falafel met hummus. Klein frites es 2.95 of so met saus es another .50 en at the end I paid something like 10.85. the falafel was really nice but I found the salad bar to be a bit limited and it’s odd that you can’t get tahin saus in the pita itself. The falafel ended up being really good for the type of spot that it is but I found that my man behind the counter was kinda annoyed, didn’t give a sh. dude had the bluetooth in his ears so a phone call seemed more important than the customers in front of him. So service was kinda lacking but that’s sort of expected with an in and out spot like this. But damn for 2.95 those frites were some of the most dead frites I’ve had. They were like a limp finger or something. My man man really didn’t hook it up and I’d avoid the frites if you’re here. Falafel met hummus and nothing else but if you’re there while Albert Cuyp market is open then this is a miss. 4€ falafel roll at Albert cuyp is banging and the man always hooks it up so your choice. 7.45€ boss falafel met hummus with bad service or 4€ banging falafel roll and good service?

Pros: Falafel met hummus

Cons: Price point, Service, Fries 🤮🤮

Super fresh falafel & frites

Just discovered Sonny and am officially addicted. The falafel pita is cooked fresh to order, and you can choose from a delicious range of vegan salad fillings and sauces. Chips are crispy and fresh.

Pros: Cheap eats, Incredible falafel

Really my favorite place in town

For handmade fries and falafel. Nothing beats the secret recipe of Sonny. Don’t understand why he can sell his goods so cheap

Pros: Great location for watching people, Best price quality of food, Fresh food and frying oil

Cons: Small place

best fries and falafel

I always get my fries here! They are so good and the potatoes are of really good quality. It’s not very expensive overall. Their falafel is also really good.

Yummy pitas

It's really cool that they have refillable toppings. Super delicious and the staff are very lovely.

good food but poorly organized

I had the vegan falafel pita with hummus. The food was good and I liked that you could choose your own sauces and fillings. However, this place is not run as efficiently as one would like. There was only one person in front of me but I had to wait a good 15 minutes until my falafel pita was in my hand. They have the fillings bar set up in the same place you wait in line and order, so as I was waiting I found myself to be in several people's way. But once I had my food and filled the pita with the things I wanted, it was delicious!

Pros: delicious, fresh, fillings bar

Cons: poorly organized

Seriously, best falafel ever

Everything is freshly made and you can taste it.
Super friendly guy behind the counter and the flavors are to die for. Don't go to maoz, this place is by far the best of it's kind.

Pros: fast service

Best felafel ever

I went here for lunch & had a great experience. The food was fantastic and super fresh, the prices were reasonable, and the owners were gruff but pure of heart.

The basic idea of it is that the chap puts some felafel (and optionally eggplant or feta) into a toasty bit of pita bread, then you add whatever fillings you want from the salad bar. The fillings are awesome: big pickled chillis, roasted carrots, salsa verde, olives, chockpeas, etc.

Pros: Tasty, Cheap, Generous

Cons: No booze

Not recommendable

Cons: unfriendly staff, expansive location

OK

The falafel was good but nothing special and most toppings were vegan. If I was in the area I would go back, but I would not go out of my way to return.

Not bad

Decent food, not much variety but enough for fast food. Decent price for the city of amsterdam (nothing is cheap). Not friendly service, as a tourist i felt some hostility(it was the only place where i felt that in Amsterdam).

Pros: nice food

Cons: Unfriendly service

Small falafel/fries joint. Decent.

Decent place for falafel and fries. Very similar to a Maoz, if you're familiar with that.

Not bad, but not outstanding. I'd consider it one of those "if you're in the area" places, but not worth a special trip.

Pros: All-veg

Best falafel in Adam

Good stuff. And fries are fresh cut from real potatoes.

Another thing that makes this place great for falafel is the location. Sonny is in a pedestrian only area with a lot of cool bars and coffee shops.

Delish all-you-can-eat salad bar, ho-hum falafel

We stumbled upon this vegetarian falafel joint near the Albert Cuyp market and, being hungry and uncertain whether we'd find something equally meat-free and tempting in the 'hood, decided to take a gamble. The fellow behind the counter was friendly and helpful, explaining what was vegan and what wasn't (only the tzaziki wasn't vegan). We ordered falafel and had the choice of whole-wheat or regular pita, with eggplant or without. The salad-bar offerings were varied and tasty: curried chickpeas, hummus, tapenade, and lots of different salads and several hot sauces. Just like its competitor, Maoz, Sonny offers all-you-can-eat falafel fillings, so you don't have to feel shy about going back for seconds. The falafel itself was sort of boring; not a lot of flavor, unfortunately. At least it was filling and hot. The fries were good, too: crispy and hot. We also got a special vegan dipping sauce (a mix of hot sauces) instead of the mayo-based stuff they usually serve. We appreciated the interesting drinks--lychee, tamarind, coconot--and the tables out front. Later, we discoverd a Maoz right around the corner, but I'm glad we tried Sonny, if only for comparison's sake.

Pros: cheap, filling, mostly vegan

Cons: falafel lacked flavor, fast food

Sonny, yesterday my life was filled with rain

Picture the scene:

You've recently arrived in Amsterdam, it's nearly 10pm and you're very hungry, so you've headed out to an independent falafel place which has a good review on Happy Cow. You've checked the place's own website and it doesn't close until 11pm, so you have more than an hour until it closes. Great!

Now imagine your disappointment when the owner gruffly waves you away saying his kitchen is closed and he's not serving any more. Did you mis-read the website? No, he's just decided to knock off early.

Never mind, you can just nip next door to grab a burger, or some lasagne, right? Only you can't, because you're vegetarian or vegan and therefore have to be a bit more choosy about where you eat.

So, stomach rumbling, you get back on your bike and head back to the hotel to research somewhere else to eat...

Sonny: if your website advertises opening until 2300 then you should stick to those hours, okay? If you must close early, do it with a smile and an apology, not arrogance.

Cons: closes early without warning

AWESOME!

Located on a great street with outdoor seating and plenty of nearby bars & coffee shops, this place is delicious and priced well. Tons of serve yourself toppings (hummus, roasted carrots, sauces, pickled beets, cabbage, garbanzo beans in a curry sauce, etc etc etc). DELICIOUS! Also, try the roasted coconut water or the Ginger Beer. Yum. Sonny, the owner, was incredibly friendly too. Highly recommend!
