Laksa of my dreams - Edit
I think about the Laksa from Soul on a near-daily basis. I think it’s my favourite dish I’ve eaten in the past five years. The balance of spiciness and creaminess, the flavours, the faux meat — honestly I could go on and on.
Read moreDon’t get me wrong, Soul is all-round incredible. So many other amazing dishes, the satay tofu and the bbq combination rice are other favourites. But I will always come back for the Laksa.
The staff are so lovey too, and try their best to squeeze you in even when you don’t have a booking (it’s small and gets really busy so definitely DO book if you can). One of my absolute fav places, highly recommend ♥️
Pros: Flavours!, Lovely staff

Perfection! - Edit
We were lucky and got a walk in spot, but I’d recommend making a reservation! We had the gyoza, satay tofu, and Soul’s special deep fried tofu. All were flavorful and delicious!

Simply superb - Edit
Superb Malaysian vegan food in Edinburgh. We tried a tofu satay starter, a noodle/broth dish and a katsu curry made with mushrooms. Absolutely exquisite all around. Service attentive and very kind. Cute, clean and cosy interior. Would highly recommend!

Fabulous food and lovely staff - Edit
We went to the Dynamic Earth museum on a cold Saturday afternoon and by the time we finished exploring we were starving. We didn't have a reservation, so we were really pleased to get a spot for 4 people (and a pram!) in the nearby Should Vegan restaurant. We realised how lucky we were when many people coming after us were turned away due to lack of reservations and the restaurant being full to the brim.
Read moreThe staff were VERY attentive and helpful and despite the place being so busy they didn't rush us and took time to offer us recommendations.
The food itself was spot on. We ordered all 3 soups, BBQ mock duck, Singapore fried noodles, pineapple fried rice, king oyster mushroom with lemon sauce and chips.
We enjoyed everything, especially the mains (though my 5yo loved his sweetcorn soup). The Singapore fridge noodles were packed with veg and the fried rice was so flavourful. I had king oyster mushroom with lemon sauce and it was a fantastic combo of gentle flavour of crispy coated mushroom mixed with a punchy aroma and taste of a rich lemon sauce. The char siu mock duck was also excellent - moist and well seasoned.
Pros: Excellent service and the nicest staff, Good sizes portions, Delicious food

Would give it six stars if I could! - Edit
This is the best vegan food I've ever eaten. It's my new favourite vegan place and I will be 100% sure to visit next time I'm in Edinburgh! I ate there twice and both times was blown away by the flavours and textures. The tofu satay skewers were just incredible. I don't think I'll be able to find better vegan food anywhere (but I'll keep trying!) and I feel so happy that I got to eat here!!

Small malaysian restaurant with great food! Everyone is so friendly there. They refill your water constantly, refilled our pot of tea with hot water and the dishes came quite fast. Even the japanese whisky we tried was great! Booking is required, it was really full.

Malaysische Küche in UK - Edit

Delicious! - Edit
This is a very small restaurant so I recommend booking. It's a little bit more expensive than others but I thought it was 100% worth the price, the food was amazing and the staff were great. The special fried tofu was some of the best tofu I have ever eaten!

If you’re looking for THE vegan restaurant - Edit
in Edinburgh, look no further. The place might be very crowded, but rightly so. The food is really really fantastic and just feels so authentic and well prepared, anything but five stars would be insane. Come and try out for yourself!

Perhaps the best vegan restaurant I’ve visited - Edit
This is a fantastic place. Vegan food that feels to be the original thing and not a substitute. Everything, from the gyoza to the surprising sweet potato and ice cream was precise and imaginative.

My all time favourite - Edit
Soul vegan is a fully vegan Malaysian restaurant with incredible food, full of flavour!
Read moreThe menu had lots of options so it was hard to pick because they all sounded incredible.
To start we shared the satay tofu, which was so good. The tofu was soft on the inside but breaded on the outside so had the perfect texture. The peanut sauce was so good and worked well with the salad!
My partner got the rendang lions mane mushroom. The texture of the mushrooms were great in a rendang and held all the flavours!
Then I got the laksa and I would recommend this 100%.
The broth was creamy, peanuty and a little sweet which worked so well with all the toppings (which were full to the brim). It had soft noodles, tofu, char Sui pork, green beans, crispy onions and fried dumplings. The portion was huge but I couldn’t stop eating because it was incredible!
Pros: Amazing laska, Great starters, Friendly staff
