Always good food - Edit
I've been a regular customer here for almost 2 years - the food is really tasty and the portions are huge! The desserts are great too but be aware that both the food and desserts are quite heavy(it's soul food after all!). Also it usually takes a long time to get your food, so make sure to go when you're not in rush ;)

Delicious, Filling, Many Options - Edit
I have been here a number of times since it opened, and had used their delivery option during the pandemic a few times. They feature home-made seitan dishes, home-made burgers and sausages, and a variety of other vegan dishes. To my knowledge it is one of only two completely vegan options in Nairobi. The plates are substantial and will fill you up. Brownies are also good if you like sweet things. They make custom cakes for birthdays and events.

Really great food! - Edit
This is one of the best places for vegans I have eaten at in Nairobi. Food was soooo good, a little slow to be served but was worth the wait! Our server was really lovely too!

The food is nice, portions are big and the price is not bad. I tried some cookies too, the peanut butter one deserves a medal.

Bring your friends who are meat eaters (most are in Kenya) and they will love the mock-meat dishes

A little haven. - Edit
Great fast food. The food takes a while to arrive but that's because they make it fresh, so just relax and have a chat/read a book. The burger I had was warm rather than hot.

So good but soooo slow. - Edit
The good is really tasty and the portions are really big. In from America and it doesn’t taste like soul food at all-but a fusion of foods and flavors. They took 1.5 hours to complete my single order. The server was too sweet for me to even get mad. I’ll go back but I’ll call in my food instead of waiting so long.

Special place - Edit
My husband and I simply loved this cute restaurant! The staff were kind and it has many plants on the outside area which makes it extra special. We ordered the Mac & cheese and a burger and it was absolutely delicious! We loved the food so much that we got their whatsapp number and ordered dinner. We had the pizza and the chocolate milkshake and it was, once again, very tasty! It's not cheap, but the portions were generously sized. We would definitely go back for more meals if we were staying longer in Nairobi.

Great brunch place - Edit
I ordered the brunch. And the pizza. And the tofu samosas. And the strawberry smoothie. Well - where I live vegan options are few. So when you get a place like this, with so many tantalising options, what can you do? I'd planned to take the pizza and samosas home for later, but I only got half way through the brunch. The portions are enormous! The brunch was scrambled tofu with greens and fried potato - a good mix of western and Kenyan. The pancakes it came with are a meal in themselves - and, I can confirm, very good even as the next day's breakfast, coming with a fruit compote and syrup. Smoothie too, made with almond milk (you get a choice of milks), was fantastic, and the pizza great. Service is exceptionally friendly, although allow time as everything seems to be made to order. Perhaps not the most ambient location, but they've done well with what they've got, and my only reservation would be the size of the portions. You can have too much of a good thing, so order judiciously.

Wow. Great food and awesome selection! And all vegan! - Edit
We had two set lunch plates and an order of samosas. It was a crazy amount of food, and it was all really tasty and wonderful. I would highly recommend anyone go here and have a nice meal. They also got their baked goods early in the morning and they were wonderful as well. Cinnamon roll for the win!

Delicious and Delightful - Edit
This is such a great place for a meal. Sit on the porch amongst the plants and enjoy a delicious meal. I’ve been to the Atlanta location, and I have eaten at the original Chicago Soul Veg For years. This location definitely does stand up to the name!!! I had the Soul Platter that consisted of greens, Mac z& cheese, bbq twists, and salad. There was lots of foods and it was great to taste all of the local flavors! I truly enjoyed every bite, and I will be back again!

All vegan, all good - Edit
It's close to Sarit Center. Has a nice, green terrace and also space inside to sit. They have a menu with Pizzas, Burgers, daily lunch (when I was there it was mac and cheese) different kind of fries, like sweet potato or garlic fries. Moreover they have lots of vegan pastries. We bought the cinnamon roll and a cookie and it was delicious 😋 the food definitely makes you full 😁

1200 for the lunch special??! - Edit
That's Artcaffe prices for a cheap looking hole in the wall place. 1300 for tofu hash, pancakes and home fries? The egg equivalent in Java House is barely a third of that - and that place is considered a ripoff. I just laughed and walked out.

The food takes over an hour - Edit
Edit:: if the owner is from Atlanta she is certainly not in the building. The flavors are good but it is definitely not soul food flavors as described. I think this would have been a 4 star review if not for the 2 hour wait.
Read moreThe mac and cheese taste more like a cheesy macaroni salad but hey 🤷🏽♀️ this ain't the south.

I'm still waiting. Hopefully it's worth it.
The server gave me a heads up that it would be 40 minutes. She called me about an hour later to let me know it was ready (I went for a walk, I appreciated the heads up). Now I'm back and waiting for someone to pop out. 1.5 hours so far. I'd love to change this to a positive review but how in the world does it take this long to make one dish for the only customer in your establishment?

*The* Vegan restaurant in Nairobi - Edit
Soul Veg is an absolute treat. The restaurant is 100% vegan and has some amazing offerings like vegan mac and cheese, seitan barbecue, pizza, burgers, pastries, all sorts -- their menu in the restaurant is bigger than the one posted online. The quality of the food is top notch, and is clearly made with care and passion. This is *the* vegan restaurant in Nairobi, and it's only a matter of time before more people catch on to this gem. Also, unlike another reviewer said, the place actually has ample outside (covered) seating.

This place did not disappoint. The pizza is loaded with toppings and the red velvet cake was lush. I'll definitely be coming back to try their daily specials and other sweets.

Jamaican Kenyan Fusion! - Edit
Chef Daniella creates an array of food for catering and daily meal orders. There's everything from rice, to our local sukuma wiki (collard greens), to seitan-based meats and sweets such as cake, doughnuts etc. My lunch plate was a delicious Tofu Vegan Curry with white rice, sukuma wiki and a salami/black pudding that she's currently developing. The food is fresh and bursting with down home flavor. This is the type of food you can eat every day and feel good about eating!
