Fantastic pay by weight - Edit
I love this place. The choices are varied and high quality with a good selection of healthy veg based dishes along with some delicious cooked tempeh and seitan etc.

Almost the best - Edit
Used to be better, but still good. The branch of Rotterdam has always more options and diversity. Anyway, good vegan cakes and food…

Spoiled for choice! - Edit
It's hard not to overeat when faced with so many tasty looking vegan options right in front of you. We both tried many things and I enjoyed everything except the rendang (was a bit boring) and the cauliflower tempura (?) which was tasty and perfect in texture but too salty for my taste.

Pricey Plate - Edit
There were so many vegan options! I liked the Shiitake Steak's consistency better than its flavor. The Tempeh in Peanut Sauce was tasty. The Redang Smoked Seitan was good, but a little watery. The Green Quinoa with Edamame was refreshing. The Tempeh Salad was slightly spicy. The Corn Fried Cauliflower was crispy, but bland.

Big selection, mostly healthy - Edit
All ingredients are listed, keep in mind that not everything is vegan! (Most things are, however.)
Read moreAte there before a sports activity and it was a perfect option for that as I got to choose mainly healthy, light options like green quinoa salad etc.
Pros: Ingredients listed, Prices OK
Cons: A bigger icon/extra sign for vegan would be great

Still thinking about this place 6 months later - Edit
Went here last summer and I'm still pining for this place (and I live in Seattle, for the record, where good vegan food is not rare). The extensive options, the laid-back atmosphere, the clear labeling, the buffet style... all so good. I think my partner was almost convinced to move to Amsterdam over it.

Great easy dinner - Edit
I go to spirit when I dont feel like cooking and want some food to quickly take away. You can also eat there although I don’t since the atmosphere isn’t that nice. They have varying buffets with vegetarian and vegan dishes. Quality varies but I would say overall it’a quite good

Great buffet & concept - Edit
Loved it here, a buffet like a savoury pick n mix! Choose what you want and put your plate on the scales to pay. We were careful with our portions so the concept definitely encourages you to not waste any food, we went back for a second plate each, you just pay each time.
Read moreI enjoyed the huge range of choice on offer and how clean and fresh everything on the buffet looked. Each dish was labelled with its name and allergens. Some I didn't know what they were but I knew they were vegan so would still try it.
The place is very light and spacious with tables spread around, unlike most places in Amsterdam I've eaten so overall it was a different, new food experience and I really enjoyed it. There is also a health store/supermarket attached which you can access through the restaurant.
Edited after another visit in Jan 2024 - very busy and popular and the food choice is still great, or better!

Super good buffet with some top quality sietan! - Edit
Spirit came recommended by multiple locals and an old vegan friend suggested we meet there. I worried we might have trouble finding a seat, but there place is spacious - a benefit of being a bit outside the city centre I guess - and I was unhassled whilst I waited at a table for 20 mins before my mate arrived.
Read moreThe buffet is about 85% (?) vegan and includes some imaginative and super variations of seitan and tempeh dishes. The seitan steak in a dark sauce was so good, succulent and tasty that I can still feel it in my mouth two weeks later! And no that's not because I haven't brushed my teeth since! There were many other very nice dishes too.
The joy of a buffet is of course that you can have a small amount or loads as you so wish or can afford. My attempt to try a little of everything that looked interesting cost me 24 euros but my eating partner's plate cost her just 10!
For dessert we shared a lemon meringue and a couple of petit fours all very nice though the meringue was as amusing in its rubbery stickiness as it was tasty.
Well worth eating at. A cool Amsterdam atmosphere with loads of people from all ages, styles, sex etc eating out there.
Pros: Big range of food, Some serioulsy good seitan dishes, Nice environment
Cons: Not all vegan, Not cheap if you eat a lot!

Delicious Veg Buffet - Edit
We wandered in to Spirit while visiting the city and had a great dinner experience. The vegan options were plentiful and delicious. Prices were decent and service was lovely. We ended up going back for a last takeaway meal before we left Amsterdam. Can’t wait to go back again.

Lovely food! - Edit
I had breakfast here for around €8. It was very tasty! I also got a box to go for dinner which cost €26, but I put so much in there that I could use the leftovers for a good sized lunch the next day, so closer to €13 for dinner. You could say it is more expensive than other places, but all the food is organic which makes it worth it for me and €13 for dinner in Amsterdam is pretty reasonable.

We loved it! - Edit
We thought the food was excellent, most of the options were vegan (and there were lots of different ones!) so eating there was a no brainer for me.
Read moreWe weren't super excited about not knowing how much it was gonna cost us until each plate was weighed at the till, but the price ended up being fair imo it helps prevent food waste as people don't go overboard like they do with traditional buffets.
The place itself is pretty nice, it's spaceous, clean and bright and has an artsy vibe about it. The staff is friendly. They have small patios if you want to eat outside (though they're located pretty close to the road). Would definitely go back, my husband who's not vegan was very impressed with the quality of the food too.
Pros: Super tasty food, Mostly vegan, Lots of options

Nice food, nothing amazing, what you'd expect from a salad bar bigger kind of place, rather expensive considering, but I'd come again when looking for some lunch.

If you will be in Amsterdam you must go there. It's buffet, where food is for weight. Many choices, very nice and clean interior. For me little expensive, but what the heck I was on vacation, so I ate here twice and if I ever will be in Amsterdam I definitely go again.

Nice plant-based buffet (expensive) - Edit
We have never been to vegan buffet so when we saw one we were very excited. We are used to a set price all you can eat buffet, however this one is priced by the weight of the food on your plate. Which could be a good concept but they charge €3.50 for 100g of food which is barely anything so ends up being extremely expensive or a skimpy meal, which isn’t what comes to mind when you hear the word ‘buffet’.
Read moreHowever, the food options themselves were very good and we got to try all sorts of different things. There were only a couple of things that were vegetarian instead of vegan.
Poor choice of drinks for us, but we just may not be into that sort of thing.
Pros: Lots of vegan options
Cons: Very expensive , Weird drinks

favorite place to eat in amsterdam! everything’s vegetarian but probably 80-90% is actually vegan. great variety in the buffet. lots of veggies, tofu, soup, amazing desserts and cakes. good matcha, too. A bit on the pricier side but well worth the money.

Lovely place! - Edit
Very different option for food for our first night in the city. I went with my mum who isn't veggie at all and loved how tasty the food was.
Read moreIt's a good idea that your food gets weighed after you've piled it up as you're paying for (presumably) what you'll eat, just can be a bit on the pricey side if you're not careful!
Overall, great choice for those of the veggie/vegan persuasion but also for those that aren't if they're willing to try new things!
