Great pizza! - Edit
I miss my favorite Detroit pizza and this was such a nice surprise to find in SF! I kept it simple with the vegan cheese pizza and it was delicious. They have some tempting brussel sprouts on their menu that looked good as well.

Detroit Brings the Pizza Game - Edit
Wait, what's this? You have Detroit style pizza now in the City?? and there's a vegan option???
Read moreDetroit style is my favorite (despite having lived in Chicago for a few years) so it was a joy to see this close to my hotel.
I ordered the Samin's Vegan Pie which is topped with a red sauce, vegan cheese, confit tomato salad, and chilis. Sure, I would have liked more veggies but I'm used to eating all veggie pizzas, so this was a nice change of pace. Their crust was absolutely doughey and chewy just how I like my Detroit style pizza. The tomatoes were on point and bursting with flavors with each bite.
The biggest piece of advice I can offer is to order online in advance. It takes over an hour for the pizza to be ready. Do not head there to place an order and wait outside, as it'll be a long time before your freshly baked pizza will be ready. Once your order is prepared, you'll receive a text message inviting you to head to the front. You'll see your name on the TV screen and that's when it'll be ready.
Be aware they do impose a 5% SF Mandate Healthcare Charge so it'll be a bit more than you expect.
Pros: Legit vegan Detroit style pizza
Cons: Limited option, No dining area

Good deep dish pizza - Edit
We did a custom pizza with nondairy cheese, beyond meat, mushrooms, and olives. It was a very good deep dish pizza. It was by no means a healthy option. We went there with the intent for a good, tasty, pizza experience not to count calories. Highly recommend trying it out if you are in Ghirardelli square!

Good if you like their vegan cheese - Edit
They use Daiya as their vegan cheese which I just can’t handle. They also refuse to do custom pizzas without cheese, even if you go pick it up. Really too bad since I’m also GF and their GF pizza crust is one of the best I’ve had.

Cons: Can’t customize, Daiya on my pizza :(

SO EXPENSIVE!! - Edit
I ended up getting the vegan pie, which was basically just a margarita pizza, and with tax it came to $25 for four slices. Now I will say it is like deep dish style so the slices are thick, I was only able to eat half of it the first night, but even still the pricing is insane. If I hadn’t walked 20 minutes to get there and other things were around I wouldn’t have paid. Also when I went there weren’t all the options for modifications as other reviewers mentioned, so I was stuck choosing the one already made vegan pie. I mean it was good, but for $25 you can get so many others great vegan meals (plural)! I’d say go if you have money to spend, if not it’s not a necessity.

Fave vegan pizza in the city! - Edit
Love the rotating menu and the specific vegan pizzas listed. My current favorite is the “Vegan Beet-anesca” which has peppers, vegan cheese, marinara, vegan pesto, and a vegan beet cashew cream sauce (it’s pretty and pink!)

Delicious - Edit
The pizza was really good. It was a little pricey, but it’s a good amount of food when you take into account how thick the dough is. The vegan cheese option is clearly displayed, but you should definitely ask which items you are getting are vegan.

Great service - Edit
Disclaimer: a chef friend of mine is one of the co-founders. We went to patronize his new pizza joint on grand opening day, so we expected some hiccups. The line to order took a little while, and the cashier had to double-check whether they’d received their shipment of vegan cheese.
Read moreLuckily, everything checked out, and I was able to enjoy a vegan version of one of their three vegetarian pizzas by paying an additional $2 for vegan cheese and subbing the ricotta white sauce for red marinara sauce. The signature crunchy crust was delightful, and the mushrooms were hearty and satisfying. Pair your four slices per pizza with a draft beer (Founders All Day IPA is vegan) for a square meal.
I’d love to come back and try the other veggie pizzas. Hope to see them get creative and come up with more vegan sauces!
Pros: vegan modifications available, Beyond Burger option, friendly and accommodating staff
Cons: pricey (+ vegan tax), unclear which beers and wines are vegan
