Great food with a great mission

We were so excited to eat at Strecha tonight. The restaurant is large and bright. When we first entered we thought it was small, but the restaurant is in the shape of an L and has about three separate seating areas on the long arm. We sat in the very end room which had a couch with a low table and a chess set and a monopoly game. Our servers were very nice and spoke to us in English.
We ordered the dumplings on red cabbage and the fried cheese with fries. It was great to get to try some traditional Czech dishes veganized. The food was delicious and the portions were generous - we sadly weren't able to finish our meals because we ran out of room.
We were happy to purchase a pending meal for someone in need.

Super lecker

Wir haben uns für ein Spätes Mittagessen entschieden und es hat alles super geschmeckt. Leider ignorierte uns die Kellnerin und somit haben wir nicht noch etwas bestellet.

Tasty soup and main. The portion for the main is gigantic, I am trying my best to finish the food.

Friendly and not expensive solid food

As I came the at 11 o clock on Wednesday, they offered good for homeless people. That’s a great help for society!

The offer a great cheese plate which was not expensive but very rich, extremely delicious and a good portion.

The day after I had goulash. The portion was much smaller and the goulash was stills but hard.
I was a bit disappointed.

But anyway a nice spot to spent time for lunch or dinner.

Pros: Traditional czech food, Friendly and social supporting, Good choice

Cons: Small portion of goulash, Not every food has the same good quality

Pretty good and casual

There was a nice, chill atmosphere. The waiters were helpful and friendly. The food is good, but not great, and the portions are somewhat small in my opinion.
The prices seem to match this experience though. Overall a nice experience.

First night in Prague found this fabulous restaurant. Totally vegan menu. Staff were friendly and couldn’t be more helpful. I had the soya goulash, Heather had the kebab. Both were delicious. Can’t recommend enough, will definitely be going back. Also supports homeless snd ex offenders back into society, brilliant

Pros: The whole ethos of the restaurant. , Friendly helpful staff, Brilliant menu and very tasty food.

Cons: No

Not the best

Halušky were not well seasoned, I had to add salt and pepper. The best part was the tofu and onion.

Pros: Nice place, Plenty of seating

Cons: Tasteless

Fantastic place, vegan heaven

If you're vegan, you can't wish more - Strecha ("Roof") is simply the best. 100% vegan restaurant, located in the ground floor of a building in the cool quarter of Nove Mesto. Rich a la carte menu plus daily menu (one soup and two mains daily on work days). Many items on the menu are traditional Czech feast dishes converted vegan. Friendly, kind and attentive staff, fast service, fair prices. On top of all, thumbs up for their socially responsible and supportive initiative. Respect!

Pros: Wide choice of excellent 100% vegan food, Friendly staff, Socially responsible note

Cons: No outdoor seating

Zeer goed

Ideaal om als veganist de Tsjechische keuken te leren ontdekken. Aangezien ik hier 2 keer ben geweest kan ik met recht en rede bevestiging dat dit een van de beste restaurants van Praha is.

Great food, love the social concept, fair prices, 100% vegan

I had the cheese plate and the goulash. Very tasty, nice staff. You have the option to pay for the meal of a person in need (very reasonable price). The cheese plate is awesome - this restaurant appears to be in the year 2030 when it comes to vegan cheese. Highly recommended.

Pros: 100% vegan + social (helping people in need), Very tasty, cheese was particularly good, Nice staff, good prices

Beautiful restaurant with delicious traditional Czech food!

We visited this restaurant twice during our 4-day visit to Prague, and enjoyed everything we tried! The staff was very helpful in guiding our choices toward the more traditional Czech offerings that we were looking for. There is a full bar, excellent hot and cold drink selections, and a small dessert case with options that varied from one day to the next. We ordered 3 mains each time to get a chance to try a few different things. While the menu is expansive, we loved the Halušky and Schnitzel so much we got them both times we visited. HIGHLY recommend this place for a warm meal and a cozy atmosphere!

Pros: Price, Atmosphere, Varied options

Delicious Czech Classics

We visited twice, two days in a row it was so good! We tried the day menu (170cz or £6) of soup and a main, the goulash soup was nice with bits of soy mince and the dumplings delicious. The schnitzel and potato salad was lovely and fresh, the duck and red cabbage was a heavy meal but also delicious. The halusky (traditional thick soft noodles) was salty and hearty -also good! All portions are large and filling. Drinks reasonable and lots of options too.

A social enterprise, with a large and bistro-like ambience. The menu is varied and includes many vegan versions of local dishes. The restaurant is large to walk around, traditional seats and benches, one small step in. Easily accessible bathrooms, although stalls are a little small. They have the option to pay a meal forward to someone in need, which is perfect.

Pros: Social enterprise , Traditional food, Good lunch menu

Cons: Desserts not so good

A place to surely return to!

Strecha has everything I'm looking for when it comes to eating out:
- delicious, flavorful food
- super friendly staff
- such a nice vibe
- affordable (paid ca. 35€ for a 2 person dinner incl. beer & tip)

Would be my 1st restaurant to come back to when returning to Prague.

New wave music vibes + good times 😋 🌱 🎶

The food on the menu was a mixture of traditional Czech and contemporary items. Healthy options for those conscientious of their portion and quality as well as delicious comfort food. The draught beer and specialty drinks were affordable and delicious. This place was so good that we had our lunch there on one day and returned the next for dinner. We absolutely loved the alternative staff and the new wave/post punk/rock music 🎵 my favourite feature of was the pay it forward meal that you could purchase for a homeless or low income person to claim another time. This place is a winner 🥇 I had dumplings with smoked soy mince and red caramelised cabbage . On another day I had the salad with golden beetroot and seeds. My partner had the set menu for lunch - soup and paprika chickpeas and dumplings. On the other day she had no duck and red cabbage with red dumplings. Can’t wait to come back here when we return to Prague.

Pros: Completely vegan 🌱 and high quality , Great cause for social enterprise/charity, Excellent vibes and range of trad Czech food

cheese and fries is a must to try

I went two times to this place when in Prague. Cheese and fries is unbeatable but is difficult to state if the best because I couldn't try all the dishes, but everything I tried was very good

Pros: food, variety, staff

vegan goulash

The goulash was very tasty, even if it was a little spicy. The portion was very large. The ambience of the restaurant was unfortunately a bit boring.

Can’t recommend it enough!

This is honestly one of the best restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of eating in. The staff was so friendly, the food was phenomenal and the atmosphere was great. I loved that being vegan didn’t stop me from being able to try traditional Czech cuisine and the waitress very kindly gave me some suggestions when I asked what she would recommend. They also have a wide selection of drinks both alcoholic and non- alcoholic and the prices are so reasonable. I got a very big, hearty meal for just €8!!

Pros: Very affordable , Delicious food , Authentic local cuisine

Great vegan versions of traditional food!

Really great food, and nice to be able to try local cuisines we wouldn’t be able to try otherwise! We had the ‘beef’ goulash and the schnitzel which were delicious. Pretty cheap as well! Highly recommend.
