Strange Health Food Store - Edit
Few good things about this place: first, they have several vegan items in the fridge/freezer section like ice cream, tofu, pizza etc. your standard vegan finds in even a grocery store. (Prices seem cheaper than some of the other health food stores). Second, often there are vegan items in the bakery including these apple-oatmeal-coconut type cookies that I really like! Third, there's a sticker on the outside of the building that seems to indicate anyone is welcome to use the washroom, which, if that is the case, I love! because that capitalist BS about 'washrooms for customers' isn't radical, classism isn't radical.
Read moreMain issue: this store is quite tiny and there isn't much vegan selection in the store, it has a bulk section, fridges/freezers, shelf-stable isles and produce, so a little of everything but nothing remarkable.
Most annoying thing: they have a sign outside for their bakery that states "Plant-Based Comfort Food" from the company "Tumeric." When I went to inquire about these dishes they pointed me the sign that read "Lamb Curry," which I was confused about because Lamb isn't a plant. The Market told me that the Bakery is a separate company (even though they ring up orders for them) and they don't know about selling Lamb as plant-based food. When I spoke to the folks at the Bakery they said their vegan option was grains (e.g., barley)... I asked if they had vegan protein to substitute for the animal protein they seemed taken aback and went silent then eventually said,"no, sorry."
Pros: Vegan baked goods
Cons: Tiny vegan selection, Unaware of basic dietary language

Not one of the better stores in Calgary. - Edit
For my taste, the food counter and the store didn't offer much to me as a vegan.
