Delicious meal, but overcharged per menu - Edit
The courteous staff was two; the menu was also in English with the prices. Our meal was delicious. While we were eating, three women came in and I told them, "The food is good!" The staff was surprised by my compliment. Later we ordered another pita bread. Afterwards, I asked for the check. Since she was cooking for the women, she signaled for us to wait. When she brought the bill, it only had the total yen --nothing itemized. Since the dollar was worth 150 yen, the total seemed high, but I wasn't paying the bill. About a day and half later, my son revealed that we were overcharged $20-30, but he did not want to make a scene. He thought the woman made a mistake. I think she charged us the women's meals too; maybe she thought I was saying we'd pick up the women's check when I complimented the food. I suggest privately totaling the amount when ordering to avoid any errors.

Israel Izakaya - Edit
Had a wonderful meal at this Israeli Izakaya. Limited seating so be prepared to wait, however the meal is worth it. Vegan and vegetarian options are clearly labeled, highly recommend the falafel, pita, mushroom hummus, and baba ghanoush. It's a one man show and was a delightful experience all around.

We had the Tel Aviv salad, babaganoush, Hummus, pita, shakshuka, and falafel, and it was a really good amount for two people. Run by a family who were so friendly and hospitable. We'd definitely go back!

Fantastic falafel, sweet friendly owners - Edit
We were so happy to find this place. The vegan items on the menu are clearly grouped and labeled. We had falafels (crisp, hot, fresh), mushroom hummus (the mushrooms are on top of the hummus), pita (fresh and thick but not dense/heavy), Korean style salad, and cocktails — one made with Japanese gin and one with shochu. Even though we had to sit upstairs by ourselves because the small bar was full, the owners made sure we were well taken care of and didn’t feel left out.

Delicious - Edit
Great food and nice atmosphere. Owner is Israeli and we had a nice chat. There’s both vegetarian and vegan options. We enjoyed both kind. Shakshuka with egg was delicious and so was the hummus with very good olive oil.

Great find - Edit
We had a great evening in Moishe‘s Bar/Restaurant. We ate Shakshuka, Hummus, Falafel and an Israeli Salad. Everything was just great! After that we had a chat and a few Drinks with Moishe and some other customers (locals and travellers). That was just an unforgettable evening. Would definitely come again.

Great options, friendly service! - Edit
My partner and I had a great night at Tel Aviv sitting at the counter chatting with the lovely owners and another customer. Very homely feel with welcoming hospitality. Food was tasty, especially loved the Falafels, Pita, Hummus & Babaganoush! If busy, you may need to remind them any remaining order items you are waiting for 😊

Lovely food, gracious host - Edit
A quaint little (large by Japanese standards) restaurant opened by Moshe! 18-20 seater with a lovely ‘eat-at-the-bar’ option as well as a proper table option! Lovely food, with lots of vegetarian and vegan options!
Read moreWe tried the hummus, falafel, pita bread, Israeli salad and caprese! All were totally fresh and very tasty! We also ordered Tofu Steak - basically chunks of tofu fried on the pan and with some lovely sauce!
Equally interesting is Moshe’s backstory. Travelling in India (20 years ago after finishing his schooling in Israel), he met his wife at a guesthouse in Manali! They traveled together for 2 months post that and she asked him to come back to Kyoto with her. She broke off her then existing engagement and married Moshe! Both have 2 lovely children now! Since then Moshe has been living in Kyoto!
Pros: Hummus, Tofu Steak, Falafel
