Pretty good - Edit
Such a lovely place, I did love the place, the decoration and so on.
Read moreThe food was also very good and very tasty, not a lot of risk taken but perfectly executed .
Also it might be a British thing, but no bread was given to eat with (or it might be a French thing to do that 😂)
The entire meal was 60£ (75€), I’d expect a bit more creativity and originality for that price and that kind of food.
Pros: Lovely place, Food is excellent
Cons: A bit too expensive, No bread on table :(

Fabulous - Edit
I love this place, just north of Marble Arch, around the back streets on the way to Marylebone village.
Read moreYossi one of the owners was in today, so some great chats about the menu, the vegan food scene & my impending move to Brighton.
The Prosecco menu is Outstanding & their Negroni’s are classic! Fabulous venue that never disappoints.
Downstairs they only take one booking per table per night, so you can stay as long as you are ordering!

Very nice experience even for a non-vegeterian - Edit
I was looking for a nice restaurant and I entered The gate. I only realised that it was a vegetarian restaurant when I already sat down. And I thought to myself, whiy not give it a chance. And I was really very impressed. The food was very good but the service was also superb. I would definately come back and recommend it to friends !

Unique menu with loads of vegan options! - Edit
The unique menu had a good number of memorable vegan options for all courses. Good wine selection. Restaurant is a good size on 2 floors. We were able to get in without a reservation because we eat early but I'd recommend getting one ahead of time so you don't miss out. Two appetizers, two mains, one dessert, and two alcoholic beverages for

Very good, not quite good enough for the price - Edit
The quality and presentation of the food was great, but the options on the menu were lacking inspiration for the price. All things that we make at home, or that you might see on a ‘gastropub’ menu. The desserts were great though, and all vegan.

Had a really lovely experience here. Lovely atmosphere, fantastic choice and high quality food as well as great service. With the added bonus of benefitting from a half price deal! As mentioned before the polenta chips are absolutely glorious!

I love this restaurant. I went here with my sister pre-pandemic to celebrate her birthday and then a few months later, she treated me on mine! The food is delicious, the staff was patient with my (loud) kids, and the wine selection is lovely too. It's bustling and busy for dinner. Can get loud (just like my kids!).

Lovely location!
Read moreCurrently the strong side of the menu is a wide selection of wines, cocktails and drinks.
In comparison, not many food choices.
Quality and presentation of the dishes is very good.
The arancini and the couliflower starters are surprisingly tasty.
On that day service was not quite attentive and dynamic, but it can happen anywhere.

Delicious food! - Edit
Tried this location as we had a voucher. My starter (3-onion tart) was divine. My main (red thai curry) was also extremely tasty, although they used sushi rice instead of sticky rice. My boyfriend's starter (potato cake) was good but a bit bland and the consistency was more like a puree. His gyoza were tasty but not crispy. Portions seemed small but if you have 3 courses you end up really full - especially with the chocolate bomb for dessert! We were slightly disappointed with the service (boyfriend was asked about the voucher twice, even though he said I had it and was on my way) They forgot to apply the discount when bringing the bill and it took them quite a long time to realise and bring us the correct bill. They were friendly otherwise. All in all the Hammersmith one is better as the decor and atmosphere in the Marylebone one are quite bare despite being quite expensive. Still lovely food so would recommend for a special occasion.

Quality of food has declined - Edit
Updated from visit in Oct 2019: It appears that this location has had a change in mgmt. The acid rock music was deafening for a Sunday night at 8:00. The server had no idea what the soup was and ignored us after taking the order. The food was bland and dry, and they took off the vegan chocolate mousse bomb, so no dessert for us either. The bill for 3 of us was 98 pounds, with no drinks or dessert. We won’t be coming back next year. Previously: We have been to this location every time we visit London. It never disappoints. The food is fabulous, drinks are very good and the desserts are to die for. Servers are friendly, atmosphere is nice, restrooms are clean and well kept. Wonderful place to take a date. Although a little fancier than I was anticipating, they welcomed me (a solo traveler) and made sure I was cozy and content. The food was delicious, although a little pricey. Would recommend for a night out maybe not for a quick lunch!

Bloomin delicious! - Edit
We had marinated tofu and stuffed courgette flower to start. Both delicious and beautifully cooked. So were our mains: Thai green curry and beetroot burger. The latter came with salad with the most delicious dressing ever, delicately pickled gherkins, a wonderful creamy dip and optional guacamole which was nice and tangy. Our mouths were left tingling with yummy flavours. No room for pudding!

I really like the creativity of their menu, I haven't been disappointed yet!
Read moreYes, of course, some dishes are better than the others, but it comes down to personal taste, so obviously you need to figure out what would be the best option for you! I personally really enjoyed the miso glazed aubergine, and (surprisingly - as I'm not usually a big fan) the burger - the bagel instead of bun was a great touch, the sauces were on point and the patty itself was not bad at all! Service might not be the friendliest in the world, but nevertheless they're professional and attentive.
Pros: creative menu, good value for money
Cons: not fully vegan (but why? just go for it, Gate!), staff not chatty/friendly

Terrible service, average food - Edit
Went for a birthday dinner with a party of 9. We waited almost 1 hour for drinks. One of the party had to leave before food was served as it took too long. They also ran out of tofu! One of the starters came with allergens even though it was clearly relayed. The table next to us we’re having a similar problem, and was told the kitchen was one staff down, then later that there was a new chef. We asked to speak to the manager and he told us something was wrong with the ticketing system. This whole time we weren’t updated on when we would get our meals. Eventually our mains came and most were edible but 2 burgers were burnt. Very passive aggressive attitude from the managers and no apologies. We weren’t charged for the meal but definitely won’t be returning to this branch. Heard the Angel branch is better.

Thoroughly recommend the tofu or potato cake to start, then tortillas, sweet potato fries, and then the chocolate peanut butter brownie. But it was all delicious! Service very good too.
