Special place - Edit
I love Marla, who manages, bartends, and who recently turned vegan and is always interested in hearing about and trying new vegan treats. Hopefully the chef will catch the “vegan fever” and experiment with more vegan options . The decor is functional, a store front on Main Street, with 2 window seats holding four each, divided by the door, with tables on either sides. It gets busy quickly and tables are close, but not too close. In the back of the restaurant you’ll find a large J shaped wooden bar, large enough to eat at as well. There is seating out back, on a deck overlooking the river as well. Staff is attentive and friendly. You can find a good selection of beer, wines or fancy drinks. Paul is a great chef, but tends to put more attention in creating specials for the meat eaters, although recently a few new ideas expanded the vegan options in the form of a soup, salad, or dessert. Regularly you can count on the Tofu Grain Bowl, and Tofu Burrito which are both amazing; so good in fact that I can return and eat the same item several days in a row, and still love it! Because of the limited regular selection for vegans on the menus I could only give it a “Fair” but for the total experience and quality of the vegan options offered it deserves 5 Stars!

Imaginative comfort food, outstanding service, scenic spot - Edit
Very popular spot, and for good reasons. We were a party of 12 just ending a nearby hike and I called only 15 minutes before arriving to reserve a table. The outdoor seating was full and reserved for the rest of lunchtime but the host couldn't have been more accommodating. She had several tables pushed together and seats ready for us on arrival, even though otherwise the restaurant was packed. The indoor dining room has a cozy atmosphere. The food choices include lots of vegetarian dishes. Several are vegan and several more can be made vegan. For starters I had the vegan soup of the day — tomato-white bean — and it was thick and delicious, with interesting spices. My main course was the Heron veggie burger, made vegan by omitting the cheese and substituting a black bean salad for potato salad. Nice combination of vegetables on the tasty burger. Three of my companions raved about the mac & cheese with cheddar mornay sauce, caramelized onions, and a crispy garlic bread crumb baked topping. Our server was attentive and performed flawlessly, and to our surprise even cheerfully volunteered at the end to separate the checks for our complicated combination of singles and couples. We had resigned ourselves to spending time figuring it all out ourselves, so her offer was a delightful end to a satisfying dining experience.
