Nice quick lunch - Edit
Solid vegan options, the pastries were very good and the staff were very nice - few seats to sit inside although not many. Bean bake spiced perfectly!

Fast food - Edit
An Edinburgh institution, proudly providing vegan options since the last century. While it may be double the price of Greggs, its quality is quadruple. At £7.50 for dinner tonight, it's an absolute bargain! Perfect for those on the go or needing a pre-gig meal.

Great for a quick bite - Edit
This is a very small place that is immensely popular, so it is hard to get a seat. We ordered the potato double, the Maroccan Bean and the Vegan Sausage Roll and had them on the go. Each one was tasty, although the sausage roll was a bit dry and the potato double would be better with a bit of vegetable. For a quick lunch, though, this is simply good, and it is very cheap considering the location. There is a vegan section on the menu so ordering is easy.

I tried vegan sausage rolls and mushroom pie, everything was very fresh and delicious! Staff was really nice. The place itself is quite small and has only few seats so I would recommend take-out option here.

Delicious Pie - Edit
I had a mushroom pie, which was one of multiple pies listed on the “vegan” section of the menu. Other options included spinach, haggis and sausage. The mushroom roll was delicious - I would happily recommend it. The filling was creamy and savoury, and the pie crust flaky and golden. It was a very good pie. My only suggestion is to increase the amount of filling. Prices are quite fair - a few quid for a filling pie.

Much better than Greggs - Edit
I’m not sure about Scotland, but in England, ‘Greggs’ is a pretty big deal (totally undeservedly). I’m not a huge fan of sausage rolls myself but I did try the vegan sausage roll here at piemaker and I do believe it was nicer than Greggs. Though I think the filling to pastry ratio needs to be higher at both places. The filling was tasty and the pastry was more golden and crispy. They also offer to warm up the items which are purchased and that is a huge plus. I’m not a fan of barely warm pastry. I had the vegan mushroom pastry and it was really good, much nicer than a sausage roll in my opinion. I also tried the vegan haggis roll (how could I not) and it was quite similar to the sausage roll but it seemed to have more filling and was more heavily spiced. They actually have a really good choice of vegan and vegetarian options here. And after sitting at the table for only a few minutes I could hear that the orders for vegan options were plentiful and it’s really nice to hear.

Vegan pies 😍 - Edit
Tried almost every vegan pie and they were all delicious. The apple pie is not marked as vegan but the owner told us it’s actually vegan too and it was nice as well.

love!!! - Edit
edinburgh has the BEST food! there are five different vegan options (i got the moroccan bean and the potato, both were great but i thought the potato was phenomenal). also the turnovers are vegan too. everything is baked fresh and not expensive. it’s perfect for a snack and if you get two it’s basically like a meal. love!!!

Lovely pies, great service - Edit
Ordered a Moroccan pie and a potato pie, both were delicious! I wasn't charged for the Moroccan pie because the man working said it felt a bit dry and he didn't feel right charging for it. I never would have known the difference (it tasted perfect to me), but I appreciated his honesty.

Having tried Gregg's vegan sausage roll the day before, I decided to try the Piemake4 today. Really tasty and flavoursome haggis roll and sausage roll, quick service and relatively affordable. No options for vegan coffee from what I could see however, unless you want a black coffee.

Simple, quick, cheap, tasty. Grab and go. I just wish the labels were a little less confusing. Some stuff says vegan but when you ask they say it's only a part of it that's vegan???
