So many tasty options

We've probably all had vegan sushi before, but likely with few options; avocado, bean curd, cucumber, maybe some peanuts. But The Sushi Samurai is on an entirely different level. We had as hard a time choosing our favorite sushi of 3 as we did choosing 3 from the delightfully large menu. The cheesecake is so darned good too, and we learned it's made in-house. Kudos!

Pros: Options, Taste, Service

Sushi is okay. The miso soup is gross.

There is better vegan sushi in Seattle than this, but what was notable to me was the miso soup. It was as sweet as a dessert. I couldn't finish it. I'll probably go to other places with vegan sushi in the future.

Pros: Variety, Good service

Cons: Miso soup taste

Hi Rachel. What is your recommendation for better vegan sushi? I think Kamakura is a lot better but im always looking for more spots.

Awesome

Sushi per nature is not vegan friendly. So, while visiting Seattle, I saw this opportunity… I marked to as a go to place. I have not been disappointed, and the experience and everything was awesome

Excellent!

They have upped their game! Better each time I come here. The gyoza was on point and the sushi was bomb. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Cool atmosphere. They even have a robot that brings the food out.

Best Sushi

I loved that everything is vegan. The owner was so attentive to us. Everything we tried was so fresh and delicious. Great price for sushi in Seattle

We tried the Ring of Fire, PNW, Katana and the Queen Anne. Appetizer was the gyoza.

Not very good

I do not understand all of these 5 star reviews. The food was incredibly BLAND! No flavor at all. The presentation was nice I guess.

The cheesecake was super SALTY and not sweet, while the crust was very soft, making the entire cheesecake a mouthful of thick mush. And why is the wasabi in the same to-go container as the ginger - I don't want wasabi-flavored ginger! Will not be going back. Also the heath rating is only "good".

It's not all vegan but momiji is so much better and tasty.

Incredible food

The food is absolutely delicious. The staff is so kind and welcoming. We love coming here! It’s really cool to be able to eat sushi again. Their faux seafood is really tasty, and they make it in house. Show up hungry so you can try a lot of dishes!

Loved this place! The vegan sushi was amazing - even my non-vegan friend said it tasted just like real fish. The service was super friendly and welcoming, and the robot waiter working alongside the staff was such a unique and fun touch. Highly recommend!

Excellent vegan sushi!

Really delicious vegan sushi! It's a fun experience to have the fish substitutes as opposed to the usual tofu and veggie combos for vegan sushi. The tiger roll was the star of the show for us, and the mango cheesecake was stunning. Lovely atmosphere and super friendly staff. They also have two seats at the bar where you can play Mario tennis which is very sweet and we definitely want to do next time.

Very impressive

I love seeing vegan sushi places popping up more over the years and sushi samurai is easily one of the best I've been to. The menu has lots of options to suit a wide range of tastes. The faux fish is quite realistic, my partner is always in awe of it. They also don't skimp on the presentation. Have had good service the few times I've gone. The restaurant is on the smaller size so I'd recommend a reservation during peak hours if you don't want to wait. But it's definitely worth waiting for!

Satisfies that sushi craving

We had the miso, spring rolls, Mr. Krabs and PNW rolls, and salmon nigiri. Everything was really tasty with nice presentation, and even my non-vegan companion said it was great! Our server was really knowledgeable and gave some good suggestions.

I'd like to go again just to try more menu items!

Delicious vegan sushi

Loved the expansive menu.

Some of the faux fish options weren't my favorite, so my one critique would be that I wish there were a few more veg forward rolls but you can get veg rolls lots of places, sushi samurai offers stuff you can't find elsewhere

Wonderful Sushi Experience

Sushi Samurai goes for a 1:1 fish emulation experience. So they try to emulate exactly what salmon and other fish taste and feel like to eat, and they do a great job!

Appetizers: I got the edamame and miso soup, both were great.

Tiger Roll: I felt this was an above average roll, but technically excellent. This roll puts on display their ability to pull off a true vegan fish. The chewiness and flavor pretty much nail it.

Mr Krabs: This was the opposite of the Tiger Roll - a fantastic roll that comes together beautifully, but less technically impressive with less “fish” textures to show off. I loved this one, was my favorite of the two!

Service was great. My only criticism is lack of physical menus. I want to enjoy my experience here, not on my phone. And it’s nice to be able to see all the menu items at once without needing to scroll between them. Would really love to see menus!

Truly excellent sushi

I've been meaning to visit Sushi Samurai for some time, and now I'm disappointed I didn't go sooner! The menu was inventive, the food was delicious, and the staff were super friendly. I loved each roll and appreciated being able to sit outside on the patio too. Highly recommended.

Pros: Delicious and inventive food, Great service, Outside seating option

Cons: A little pricey

Mind Blowing Vegan Sushi. We’ll Be Back!

We had an amazing all-around experience here. I think it’s wild that there is a veganfied sushi restaurant. Fish is one of the foods that has not really been made vegan, and while we’ve had some over the years, I couldn’t imagine having a vegan version of sushi using fish substitutes until now.

When we got to the restaurant, we were excited to see what they could create. The menu was excellent with options for anyone and everyone. The place definitely had a Japanese vibe—my son was given a neat little melon drink, and I got a Sapporo beer. We started with spring rolls that were excellent along with classic edamame and a spicy version.

That set the stage for the entrées where each of us got our own sushi. The sushi was the bomb. Let’s just say we’ll be back again before our trip ends. Other tables felt the same and couldn’t believe they were eating sushi again, and I’m not talking about just veggie sushi. While some people will never understand why we’d want to replicate fish or meat in general, why not?

The service was very good, and overall this was one of the most memorable meals of our trip.

A dream come true!

I kicked myself the last time I got sushi from somewhere else, like what was I thinking?! This time I got a free Cupid Roll bc I follow them on IG + I was hella skeptical about the strawberry on top, but I was wrong! It was my favorite of the 3. The spiciness of the Ring of Fire drowned out the flavor + my partner had to get up from the table + walk it off, lol. I enjoyed the Red Dragon, but I won’t get it again. I recommend eating the flower “Lady + the Tramp” style if you’re on a date.

I do wish they’d handle takeout containers more gingerly (har har) so the sauces don’t get stuck to the lid, but oh well, I can smear it back on.

UPDATE: Mr. Krabs is my new fave! After that I would say cupid, dragon, tofu katsu, red dragon, ring of fire.

Vegan sushi!

So many different options for vegan sushi. I got three rolls, the red dragon, the Maui, and the Queen Anne roll. I loved them all. It’s a bit pricey, but I’ll definitely come back when I feel like I want to treat myself.

An absolute gem

Sushi Samurai is somewhere that continually blows me away and keeps me coming back for more. Their crispy tofu katsu (RIP), their use of fresh ingredients, and the unique flavors that each roll brings are all reasons to patronize this restaurant. The whole menu is vegan and we have not had a bad meal here yet.

Pretty great sushi

The sushi rolls here are pretty great and creative which I appreciate. We tried to get a variety of rolls, but I will says that all the flavors started to blend together a bit and nothing really stood out as spectacular or particularly unique.

I still like it though and they go way above and beyond a typical veggie sushi that I’m used to.

Hands down best sushi

This is the #1 vegan sushi spot. Really creative rolls and sauces, and so many things that you can’t find vegan anywhere else!!! The last couple times we went, the owner was so excited to talk about the rolls and new fish alternatives they were getting in soon. The ornate presentation makes every visit feel like a special occasion, but the price is reasonable so that any day can be a celebration. This place is truly the definition of food that’s made with love.

Pros: Creative and unique, Spectacular service, 100% vegan
