Mediocre food with mediocre service - Edit
I visited for an early lunch. There were other customers there, but the person working there said that they were closed. His English was very limited, and didn't provide an explanation as to why they were closed or why there were other customers. He just said that they were closed today. At no point did I raise my voice, I was just trying to understand what was happening. The language barrier would generally be a minor annoyance, except that he was unable to explain this situation to me, and he was very short and rude about it.
Read moreHappy Cow won't let me give less than 2 stars. I would give 0 if I could. I don't plan on returning.
My friend who suggested this place was very surprised when I told him about my experience. He encouraged me to try again. I honestly didn't want to, but I decided to trust my friend.
I had the Pulled BBQ sandwich with coleslaw and fries (sorry, I forgot to take a pic). The sandwich was pretty good, but the sauce was a bit bland for me. The coleslaw was very good. The fries were basic frozen shoestring fries.
The server was the same guy as before. He did his job minimally and was not rude this time, but I wouldn't describe him as friendly either. At no point did he check on me let alone offer a refill on my iced tea.
1 star recovered for the decent food and not rude staff today.
I'm willing to give this place one more try, but I'm not impressed with the food or service.

📍 TVJ Kitchen – Downtown LA - Edit
This is one of my favorite vegan spots in DTLA. The Kra Pao is so good — perfectly seasoned, just the right amount of spice, and always hits when I need something flavorful and filling.

The space is chill and cozy, great for solo meals or getting some work done. The energy here always feels warm and welcoming.

Big menu, hard to choose - Edit
Offers breakfast foods and plenty for lunch or an early dinner.
Read moreHonestly had a hard time choosing what to get. Ended up with the Italian sausage omelet and Thai iced tea. Tea was great and the omelet was very filling.
Located in the fashion district.
Only gripe is there was a "service fee" charged. Isn't serving food the service?

What a winner! - Edit
The only negative thing I could possibly say about The Vegan Joint is that it was hard to choose what to order!! Such a great range of food and drinks, plus very friendly service.

Cozy Vibes, Incredible Food and a Vegan Gem! - Edit
The Vegan Joint never disappoints! The pancakes are fluffy, the Thai tea is super creamy, and the Blue Moon is light and refreshing. The pho is full of flavor and comfort, and the spicy cashew tofu has the perfect kick. Big portions, great vibes, all plant based. A must try!

Bland - Edit
The food lacked flavor, I got the chicken wrap and tasted like nothing even the sauce. The garlic fries weren’t bad though. Also this is very near skid row. So don’t walk here or visit later at night.

My go-to place for a good vegan breakfast in DTLA😄good food, a little expensive tho and you pay to eat in… maybe it’s because I’m a tourist and I’m not used to it but I didn’t enjoy that extra fee. Still, the food makes up to it!

All vegan, healthy options avail - Edit
I was the only one in today so yay for fast service, but the Pad Thai came with 4 or 5 mini cubes of tofu and the sauce was too thick & sweet. It's also not low-priced as some reviews say. The server is nice and the bean sprouts were fresh! I'd come back and try other things. I like that they have variety and offer things like smoothies, wraps, pancakes, etc.

Incredibly Low-priced - Edit
Got an amazing mushroom soup, rich and tangy, full of herbs for less than $10. It was a pretty large portion as well. The Garlic Chicken Wrap was great, chock full of veggies and the Lentil Quesadilla was pretty good too.

I have liked everything I’ve tried here. The food is tasty and affordable. The menu’s big. I would recommend the fried rice. It’s sweet and not like other fried rice I’ve tried anywhere else.
