Unique, thoughtful slow food - Edit
Only two people are here running the business, and they have a sign at the front asking for patience and understanding. If you need fast food, this isn’t the place. Instead, come here when you have time to unwind and have a nice conversation or something to read.
Read moreOur food and drinks were wonderful and obviously crafted with care and love. There’s attention to detail in every nook and cranny in the space, and it certainly makes an impression. For those who dream of a future with less waste, where a couple can still have a dream and make it work, this is one restaurant you really shouldn’t miss.
Pros: Wholesome food, Adorable space, Great mission

Absolutely stunning food! - Edit
Finding an all vegan korean inspired restaurant in the heart of Kyoto made all my dreams come true! We stopped here on our way back from walking around Kiyomizu-dera and Gion District. We managed to get a seat right away as we were just before the usual dinner rush. I was blown away by the kbbq rice bowl. Will be back when I come back to Kyoto!

Gorgeous food - Edit
A lovely little place - hardly any seating so need to wait but it’s no problem. Food was amazing and they also had vegan snack bars and ready made curries which we bought so that we would have some good microwaveable vegan meals to take with us to the rural places in Japan where there aren’t many vegan options!

A must try when in Kyoto - Edit
As there was a long queue to get in in the evening, we decided to go another day, this time straight at the opening time, and we were lucky - it was much calmer and we could find a spot without any problem. We tried most of the menu and I can honestly say that the hype is justified, it was really that good, cakes included. We ended up buying some vegan jerky's from their shop, too. If you have your heart set to visit, definitely pick the opening time!

So delicious! - Edit
First time experiencing vegan Korean food in a restaurant, it was so delicious! My sister is not vegan, and she really enjoyed it too! Owners were so nice! They have a zero waste market inside. I think there needs to be more of this around the world!

Good, but didn’t like bean noodle - Edit
The restaurant was really busy when we got there so I recommend getting there right before they open. We got the bean noddles and the rice bowl with soy meat. I didn’t like the bean noodles, it was just sauce with noodles and nothing else. So I recommend you get the bowl, as it was more filling and more food for your money. The atmosphere is really cool and I really like that it is zero waste!

Pretty good - Edit
Recommend getting here right when they open, as there was a long line when we arrived. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the owners were very kind and attentive. We ordered the BBQ bowl and black bean noodles. The portions were a little small, and the bowl didn’t come with that much chicken. The flavors were nice but a little mild. I recommend this place if you’re looking for something simple and light.

Super good food - Edit
The food was amazing! We tried the BBQ bowl and bean noodles and they were both delicious. The soy chunks were very tasty and succulent. We also had a lemon cake and an orange and chocolate bundt cake for dessert and they were super moist and amazing. Their fermeted seasonal strawberry syrup was to die for; super fresh taste of strawberries🍓 We arrived at 5 pm on a Mondat and had to wait about 40 mins to be seated.

Delicious food, great service, cute place. - Edit
We loved Tu Casa. The food was delicious, the bbq bowl was amazing. Service was great, the two owners are lovely. There was a bit of a wait for a table as we went around 7pm but this is standard for Japan so we weren’t fussed.

Delightful cafe and low waste store. All the menu items are GREAT, it was busy so we had to join a line and wait, but the staff handled it really well and it was relatively seamless. There was a line all night so definitely expect to wait.

A lovely gem, not to miss! - Edit
This is one of the cutest and heartwarming vegan places we’ve come across in Kyoto! Definitely try as much on the menu as you can, the prices are so fair and every single option on there is made with love. The young couple who own the place are so friendly and you can really feel that they do what they love. You can also see it in how the little restaurant is decorated, everything has a personal touch. And they are so consistent in their approach; vegan food, zero waste, solar panels for electricity, etc etc

Sweet Spot! - Edit
The restaurant is a small spot with big impact! This is a friendly two person operation that seats about 11. There was a wait but worth it! We had the Bbq bowl, Black bean and noodle bowl and Rainbow Kimbop along with Rum raisin cake and Chai milk. Loved the Chai! The cake was good but a bit dry. The dinner items all were wonderful.

I went with two omnis who were both very satisfied with their meals. All three of us took a different dish, all were delicious.

Eating here is an experience! - Edit
I ate here last night before exploring the Gion area. Having been in Japan for over a week, I have really struggled to eat properly as a vegan. The food at Tu CASA, I had noodles in a thick sauce, was wonderful. The owners are lovely people, well grounded and if only there were more people on the planet like them, it would be a far happier place. Thank you for the good food and company!

Sehr leckeres veganes Essen - Edit
