1. ⭐ Best Late-Night Vegan Food in San Diego! - Edit
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Read moreVal’s Vegan Kitchen has quickly become one of my favorite vegan restaurants in San Diego! If you’re looking for amazing late-night vegan comfort food, this is the place. They’re open late, which is a lifesaver because there are very few all-vegan spots serving food this good after hours. (HappyCow)
The menu is huge, with something for everyone: incredible smash burgers, loaded fries, grilled cheese sandwiches, rice bowls, sloppy joe fries, vegan fish & chips, burritos, mac & cheese, and so much more. The food is indulgent, flavorful, and always hits the spot.
My personal favorite is the Just Egg rice bowl—but I customize it by skipping the rice and adding refried beans, salsa fresca, vegan cheese, and their delicious house sauces. It’s absolutely incredible every time.
Another bonus is that Val’s shares its location with Evolution Fast Food, so if you’re with friends who want something different, there are even more vegan options available under one roof. It’s truly a vegan food destination. (Val’s Vegan Kitchen)
Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, or just curious about plant-based food, I highly recommend stopping by. Great portions, friendly service, creative menu, and some of the best vegan comfort food you’ll find anywhere in San Diego.

Top notch vegan fast food - Edit
The mustard and maple chicken and fries were excellent. As good as it gets when it comes to vegan fast food in my opinion. Super flavorful. Bravo!

Pay attention! - Edit
Yesterday was my birthday. My husband and I ordered two entrees on DoorDash, and only one showed up. I was able to get a refund quickly, but didn't get to have a birthday dinner with my husband because someone wasn't paying attention to the orders.
Read moreThe meatball mac that did arrive was so full of garlic oil it was barely edible. Garlic is best used in moderation, so that the food can speak for itself. It would have been a good dish with the flavors more in balance.

Cons: Too much garlic, Someone not paying attention to the ticket

Great food; Will repeat - Edit
We tried Val’s tonight since our go-to when in San Diego, Evolution, was closed, ironically in the same space. We live way out of the area and can only give our love to the 619 vegan scene once or twice a year.
Read moreThe food was great and we’re actually going back in two days to try other menu items during our road trip back home.
Tonight we ordered a dirty burger, mustard & maple chicken, and BBQ bulgogi mac & cheese. It took a while to get the order; they seemed to be overwhelmed with orders, which is a good thing because we want these places to survive. But I presume it led to the challenges I had with my order.
When I got into the car the wife noticed we did not get the fries that come with the burgers. (The burgers/sandwiches come with a good portion of fries which helps offset sticker shock on the burger price.) So I went in and they resolved that for me. It wasn’t until we got back to our condo rental 15 minutes later and sat down to eat we discovered the dirty burger was a 2nd mustard & maple chicken. Not interested in spending any more time on the road, I didn’t call them to fix or return to redo. I just ate it and it was a really good choice, so I’m glad to have had it. Nonetheless, not what I ordered, and second mess-up in one visit. As busy as they were I presume someone else got my sandwich by mistake. So they have some hiccups to work out with packaging and delivering the order to the customer.
I think the menu is great and wish I were local so I could try them all. But there’s no way I can try the whole menu in my shorts stays here, where I still cook most of my meals. The menu is not your standard fare you can get at any vegan restaurant. Everything is unique to this menu. It was difficult to choose what I was going to order and what I was going to have to pass on.

Fantastic burger- tricky to find - Edit
The burger was absolutely delicious—truly different from any other burger I’ve had. It is on the pricier side, but definitely worth it for the quality and flavor.
Read moreThe only downside was the pickup instructions. Although the text provided an address, it didn’t mention that the pickup place was located inside another restaurant. My husband and I drove to the address listed on the HappyCow instead and couldn’t find our order. Since it was also raining, it made things more frustrating. We ended up calling and were then told it was inside a restaurant, so we had to drive back to our original stop. Unfortunately, by the time we picked up the food, the fries were already soggy.
The owner did apologize, which we appreciated. Overall, amazing burger—just wish the pickup instructions were clearer to avoid confusion.

Best Cheeseburgers in SD - Edit
Super high quality cheeseburgers packed with flavor! My go to is Dirty Burger (Double Bacon Cheeseburger loaded with House Cheese Sauce). Second is Korean BBQ - Vegan Cheeseburger topped with Bulgogi BBQ Beef. I got the kimchi on the side but it is in fact better in the burger. The KBBQ was delicious but hard to tear. Great value considering the online payment system offers a discount that makes it come out to ~$14 per burger after tax. Waffle fries were delicious!

So insanely good - Edit
I love having a late night option when I don’t get home from work and don’t want to cook. the *only* reason i docked a star is because our order was messed up in a couple ways; the menu said the sandwhiches come with a plain side of fries, which we didn’t get, and then we had omitted something from our mac n cheese that was not omitted. luckily it wasn’t an allergy situation but still a bummer. we really enjoyed and will definitely order from here again!

HELL YES - Edit
Amazing. You're not going to find any light/ 'high veggie content' meals here- but if you want an amazing tasting vegan meal this is the place. The Korean BBQ burger was everything. Not too huge at all. And it came with fries! All for 16 dollars (I picked it up). Incredible, 10/10, thank you Vals. Also ready in like 15 minutes on a Sunday afternoon.

Loaded Irish Stew Fries. - Edit
I first heard about Val’s Vegan Kitchen through some flyers on the San Diego State University campus and knew I had to give it a try. One night, craving a late-night snack, I opted for their Irish Stew Loaded Fries. Oh my—so delicious! It was also my introduction to Irish stew, so I am extra grateful for that. They are located at the Aztec Food Hub, which has a convenient pick-up system, especially if you order online. I am already looking forward to visiting again!
