Wonderful - Edit
Back again 2026 - we came for dinner twice! The beet burger and fries were great and so was the curry bowl. We came back and had the Caesar salad and taco special and had to get a side of those fries again! So delicious!!!

Disappointed online order - Edit
This was the first time I ordered on line after coming in a few months ago with my wife for brunch.
Read moreOrdered before leaving the parking lot at SMF so I had time to get here and park, grab the food and head home. It was supposed to take just under 30 minutes for my order to be ready, but realized after I arrived that it hadn’t even been started. Half an hour later it finally comes out, then cut to getting home and found one of the four items was duplicated instead of being what I ordered.
While the staff was nice, and thanked me for being patient, there was nothing said about my order being half an hour late. Seeing the restaurant only being half full leaves me feeling worse. Typically not one to complain, but this is enough to likely not come back.

Pros: Chai latte is absolutely delicious.
Cons: Order was half an hour late with no explanation. , Burrito has untucked, open ends…that’s just, 🫠

Always make a point to come here for the Sacramento Vegan Chef Challenge (entire month of October) and this year was even better than the last.

This is also the place that you make room for dessert.
Outdoor patio seating is nice, as is the sunroom upstairs.

Great vegan restaurant with something for everyone - Edit
Veg Cafe is an excellent choice for a nice sit-down meal. We ordered the taquitos (appetizer), teriyaki "salmon", black bean burger, and the lasagna. All were very tasty. The "salmon" was a fun experience because I've never had a plant-based version. It was delicious, but this dish was noticeably smaller than the others. The menu had a wide variety of vegan takes on traditional items. The staff is extremely friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant. You will definitely enjoy your experience and feel good about supporting a completely vegan restaurant.

50/50 - Edit
Our brunch was off to strong start with a delicious chocolate cherry latte. We were very excited to try the latkas and potato taquitos, but unfortunately they didn't taste good at all. Thankfully the French toast and savory crepe were amazing. The crepe has a mouth watering panang curry pooled around it. The French toast was not charred, very moist, and served with real maple syrup.

I am in Sacramento for a weeklong conference. I picked a hotel that had vegan restaurants around it. Veg Café is my first stop. It is absolutely over-the-top amazing.

?? All tables booked - Edit
Went to Sacramento to meet my daughter (coming from San Francisco) for my birthday. Sent an email about reservation with no response. Tried to call & no answer, Tried to book online and it was not showing time slots but not saying booked. A couple of days later, I tried again and this time said sold out for Mother's Day but walk-ins welcome. I tried calling twice that morning with no answer, so we showed up as a walk-in and told they were only seating reservations, no walk-ins. Drove in from Reno mainly because site said they would take walk-ins. Maybe some day I can dine and leave a review of the food.

The place to go in Sacto - Edit
We were in Sacramento for a Senate committee hearing, and so were looking for good vegan options near the Capitol.
Read moreWhen I read the reviews here on Happy Cow, I knew I'd found our lunch spot.
Even so, Veg exceeded expectations: a charming upstairs cafe with windows overlooking the street for people-watching, outstanding service -- one incredible woman did everything but the actual cooking -- and delicious food and drinks. I got the Moroccan bowl and my husband the burger, plus I ordered a Blue Butterfly Refresher -- like nothing I'd ever tasted before -- and my husband got the kombucha.
All so good. If I didn't live over 100 miles away, I would be back at least once a week.

Excellent menu, totally vegan and very tasty and unique food, plus home made alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages. Enjoyed the crispy brussel sprouts and veggie burger. My non-vegetarian friend and I discovered this place while in Sac for a Kings game! Thanks Happy Cow for helping me find it!

Such an interesting menu - we were there for brunch. I’ll attach three pictures of what my husband, his friend and I got. My husband and I really liked our food. His friend liked the crepe filling but wasn’t excited about the crepe (which looked like an omelette).

Delicious food! - Edit
This restaurant is fully vegan so you don’t have to worry about anything not being vegan here. I ordered the Crepe Florentine with a lavender kombucha. After, I had the Bread Pudding a la Mode for dessert. The crepe did not have much flavor. I could not taste the almond or coconut from the ricotta or pesto. The kombucha was ok and the dessert was delicious! The server who helped me was very kind and answered all my questions. Would totally go back!

Made from scratch gourmet - Edit
Everything is delicious! It’s obvious it’s all made from scratch. Some of the appetizers are my favorites, especially the oyster mushroom calamari. Tomato bisque is not the best and still pretty good. Rosemary and potato Gnocchi topped with kale and shrooms are a delight. If you drink, get The Toad! It’s super yummy!
