Great Little Spot Situated between Two Famous Neighborhoods - Edit
Vega sits on a relatively quiet street between the hustle and bustle of Sol/Grand Via and Malasagna. The decor is eclectic and eco-conscious and the food tastes and looks natural. The prices are a little high but with an above-average level of quality to compensate.
Read moreWe had lemonade to drink (an iced tea and lemonade mix) which was refreshing and delicately sweetened. We were given a bean dip with a natural corn chip to accompany it. We started with the burrata, a aioli dip, loaded with seeds, almonds, oil, and truffle sauce, served with pesto-drizzled lettuce and tomato. We were given bread for dipping. It was a monumental start to the meal. It was creamy and bursting with an insane amount of flavors.
For our main course, we ordered pizza and Black rice. The Pizza crust was a little dry around the edges and too thin underneath. All this was forgiven because of the overabundance of perfectly fried and marinated vegetables. The creamy Black Rice (a play on the squid rice commonly found in Spain) topped with aioli and marinated artichokes was an experience. The "squid" was the real scene stealer. I was unable to identify the substitute (chewy and fatty), but it takes the dish to higher levels.
Vega is a food experience with a small-town feel in a big city.

At Vega my wife and I had an excellent dinner. We started out with the burrata which was fantastic served with some soft and crunchy bread. I had the curry and my wife had brochettes. We ended the dinner with some of the best tiramisu I've ever had. Service was quick and friendly.

Absolutely loved it here. Great ambiance (felt like a place locals go, not tourists) and some of the best food I've had in Spain so far. We got the burrata as an appetizer, which was fabulous, and I ordered the Brochettes Of Heura And Vegetables With Satay Sauce And Japanese Rice Thin Noodles as my main course, which I highly recommend. For dessert, my husband and I split the tiramisu, and it was the best tiramisu I've ever had. Wonderful option for vegan dining in Madrid!

We were excited to try Vega Luna as our first option when we arrived in Madrid. We found it, stepped in the door, and despite two empty tables at 4 pm, the bartender waived us away, and said they were too busy. We frequently find a fav restaurant when we travel and then visit multiple times. We obviously won’t eat at Vega Luna, if they are too busy to walk to the door and speak with us.

Croquettes were amazing! Jack fruit tacos were different and flavorful. Burrata was very good. Brochettes of heura (Spain’s plant based meat) was delicious, and the Black rice with squid was indistinguishable from an animal squid ink risotto. Don’t forget the Tinto de Vegano (sangria like drink) - it was terrific!

I had a black risotto with 'squid'. I've never had this dish veganised, and the novelty was interesting, but the fishy taste was a bit too intense for me. Still, it was alright and filled me up decently.

We highly enjoyed our meal at Vega Alamo (their sister restaurant)! We only took a few pictures but everything was fresh, delicious, and filling. Nothing was bland in flavor or overly salty. We did not get a chance to try dessert since we were so full from sharing a few starters and an entree, but would love to return sometime!

Read moreThe portions are big and match the cost, the staff are very friendly (bilingual) and the food itself is delicious! They do not give you less than a suitable portion for the price - unlike Mudrá in C. de Recoletos. I had the Burrata Aioli and Jackfruit Katsu Curry with a tikka masala twist. Both were delicious and the tikka masala was not too intense, which was nice. They provide three portions of jackfruit which is plenty. Just a small gripe, the amount of sauce was perfect for two portions but slightly less for three.
Hardly a reason to drop a star! I am very impressed with this restaurant and highly recommend it ❤️
