The staff was friendly, but the experience felt a bit confusing overall. The restaurant isn’t clearly marked from the parking lot, and it looks like the “Vegan Bar” signage has been recently replaced by a “Chick ‘n’ Shrimp Shack” sign. It appears to now operate as a dual concept.

I ordered the vegan Italian beef—it was decent, and the vegan queso had a nice kick. Overall, it’s a good option for vegan junk food in the area, but the setup and overall experience didn’t quite deliver a standout visit.
If you’re in a hurry, I recommend ordering ahead—wait times can be long.

I ordered their chicken & waffles and a wild berry burst smoothie and loved both! I ordered through grub hub and everything was packaged well, they even had a little bag for the smoothie to prevent any spillage! They have two things of genuine maple syrup too, more than enough for my waffles. I loved the breading on the chicken, perfectly crunchy oh so flavorful. The smoothie was refreshing and so cold it gave me brain freeze. I’ll definitely be coming again

Read moreUpdate: noticed a sign change and called the restaurant, they will no longer be a vegan restaurant and will be serving meat as well as having vegan options. Since it is no longer am vegan restaurant, I had to drop a star. I loved going here and hope that the vegan quality stays. I haven't tried them since this change, because it was disheartening to see them drop as a vegan restaurant but will update again if I do.

Stopped in on a long road trip. The food was great (we got the chicken sandwiches). Everything else looked equally tasty, and for sure would go back if I lived in the area.

This was out first visit to Vegan bar and we went for brunch. We were impressed with the many options and decided on the vegan chicken and waffles with pecans, and the jerk chicken tacos. In the chicken and waffles, they used lion’s mane mushrooms for the chicken, which were delicious. The mushrooms in the tacos were very good as well. #Veganuary

I live 7 minutes from Vegan Bar so my family of three have gone many times. The food is always good and I leave full every time. I love the mushroom chicken items, nachos, avocado hash browns and soursop tea. Don’t sleep on their homemade BBQ sauce!

I got the fish tacos, which I *think* were GF because I didn’t get sick, but I’m not sure. When I went, I said to the staff member working that I was interested in knowing what the gluten-free options were. She said, “We have gluten-free options,” but couldn’t tell me what those options were. So I went with something that seemed safe. I am guessing I can eat a ton of things on the menu, and it was frustrating not being able to understand what those options are. I am far from the only vegan who has a sensitivity to gluten, so I really think it would be worthwhile for them to make it easier on us!

Considering the price of the salad it’s very weak. Very few grilled mushrooms in the salad. Salad is not as big as ones from other restaurants at same price point. I can’t even say it taste great because it was so few mushrooms and just spring mix and tomatoes. This is really a side salad and should have been half the price.

I think my favorite lunch/ dinner item has to be their Lion’s Mane buffalo tenders(they are also available plain or with BBQ!) and they have a large variety of dipping sauces to add to your order as well. I’ve also had some of the sandwiches, burgers, and waffles! The smoothies are also fantastic too. You’ve definitely got to check this place out!

Really friendly service. Food, fried mushroom the coating was tasting burnt and could only taste salt and red hot sauce. Fries were average at best. I genuinely like to promote vegan businesses but it was a very bad experience food wise. I don't know for other items on the menu.

I heard about Vegan Bar from a friend and made a special trip to try it for myself. The staff was so welcoming and helpful explaining the menu. I ordered the lion’s mane mushroom chicken tenders. They were PERFECT. To be honest, mushrooms are not my thing, but they absolutely nailed these as a replacement for a real meat chicken tender. It was made fresh and seasoned perfectly. I’m so glad I visited and will absolutely be back.

As Chicago-land gears up for the cold weather, Reggie and Renada have added hot and wholesome comfort foods like chili and mostaccioli to the menu. Both of which Reggie generously offered for my husband and I to sample. Great service and great ambiance. I enjoyed the banana blossom fish and fries. My husband devoured the 4 piece oyster mushroom chicken and fries. The chicken and fish were battered, seasoned, and fried to perfection, YUM! We will definitely be returning.

I stumbled on the Vegan Bar when I had to order new license plates next door. The owners are very sweet the the food was great. I had a burger, sweet potato fries and a golden turmeric. They were kind enough to give me a sample of the Chik’n nuggets. Everything was great! This is my new go to spot. I can’t wait to try breakfast.

I really wanted to like this places but unfortunately I just can’t. I ordered two Chicago Style Hot Dogs, which took over 30 minutes to prepare. When I finally got them, the buns were soggy and the meat replacement was cold and rubbery. The condiments did not seem fresh and were missing the sport peppers - which they replaced with ketchup!
