Fully vegan sushi place - Edit
Vegan sushi sold as set plates. Sushi was tasty, especially the Japanese ginger, tempura, shiitake mushroom, scrambled egg, and tuna rolls were delicious. The dorayaki, ice cream and donut were okay. The yuzu soda was refreshing.

Loved the set, especially the tuna, soy meat, tempura and shiitake. The desserts and iced houjicha were also really nice.

Full vegan sishi - Edit
I think i had luck getting a free place, consider the hint to reservate. Food was awsome, mb the best sishi i ever ate - but who am I? They told me they have longer waiting time, but I think they do have another understanding of time since I only waited ~10 minutes and got my full order.

Amazing and delicious experience - Edit
Very delicious food. It was an amazing Japanese vegan experience, I absolutely loved it. It can be busy, so it's better if you make a reservation or you'll have to wait.

Interesting experience - Edit
Unlike vegan maki sushi we've had elsewhere, Vegan Sushi Tokyo attempts to recreate the taste of traditional nigiri using vegan ingredients. I enjoyed the scrambled "egg", "tuna caviar" and tempura "shrimp' the most, as the flavors were spot on. I'm not a big fan of mushrooms, avocado or eggplant, so didn't much enjoy the 4 pieces highlighting those ingredients. The server told another mushroom phobic diner that the two mushroom sushi could be switched out in future. Our server explained the different sushi and said that they were already optimally seasoned, so if we wanted extra soy sauce or wasabi, we would have to order it, at a small charge. Some of the sushi were under seasoned for my taste, so I would have preferred having condiments on the table, although I can understand the chef wanting us to taste the sushi as he had created it. Although I enjoyed the experience at Vegan Sushi Tokyo, I didn't enjoy the food enough to want to return next time we're in Tokyo.

Great vegan sushi but annoying reservation system - Edit
The food was great but a little expensive. We also tried the dessert they recommended, which was ice cream and a pan cake and was very tasty.
Read moreUnfortunately you will probably not get a table without a reservation. Reservations can be made online but you have to pay a deposit, which is quite expensive and they don't even take it off your bill, you then have to wait to get the deposit back, after you have already been there.
Pros: Vegan sushi, Great dessert
Cons: Expensive, Annoying reservation system

Everything about the premium vegan sushi set, from the sushi itself to the delicious desserts were great. The desserts are small to uk/USA standards, but I always cannot finish desserts in those countries. Here they were perfectly sized (matcha doughnut and the red bean pancakes with ice cream).

Very good sushi and Sake.
Read moreI highly recommend the Japanese ginger and the mushroom with yuzu pepper sauce. I had the sake tasting menu so I got 3 different sake and they've been very delicious as well. The absolute highlight was the dorayaki with ice-cream though, top tier dessert.

Cons: A little on the pricey side

Nice concept - Edit
The sushi was beautifully presented however, the flavour was a little bland. I enjoyed the tempura one and the rest were alright. The matcha doughnut for dessert was lovely!

Incredible food and amazing staff! :)

Mild flavour - Edit
The set is very beautiful for pictures. The pieces didn't hold together, but worse, a bit flavourless. I had way better sushi elsewhere. Too expensive for the quality. The tempura piece is amazing, the only one that stood out, which you can get extra for 320 jyp. Service is acceptable. I got the donut for desert, it was OK.

Fantastic sushi - Edit
Really good vegan sushi, with 10 types to try. Some were simple but taste wise were really good, even my non-veg friend really enjoyed it.
Read moreI had the sake set, which is the more expensive but it’s a nice experience. And the desserts were amazing.
Our server was very nice, and explained the types of sushi and sake we were about to have. I don’t know if he was also the owner, but before we left he gave me a qr code with a list of vegan restaurants in tokyo and he mentioned they want to open a second location (he said he would like it to be in europe, I hope they do!)

Bland sushi - Edit
I got the standard set menu. Unfortunately the sushi was all pretty tasteless, tasted like the supermarket stuff we get back home. The miso soup also didn’t taste very nice. I personally wouldn’t recommend.

It looks like your taste is used to a lot of soy sauce etc.

Beautiful vegan sushi with authentic taste - Edit
We had a great experience at vegan sushi Tokyo. The food was very authentic Japanese in flavor and the presentation was very beautiful. Reminded me of the real sushi I used to eat when I was not vegan, not the Western style with a lot of sauces and clashing flavors. The staff were also all very friendly.

I had the miso & 10-piece sushi set for about 3,300 ¥. The flavor was good and I appreciated the variety. Rice was on the loose side so be careful if you're clumsy with your chopsticks like myself!
