The best food I had in Japan - Edit
Really excellent all around. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly - and terrific English skills - and the menu was simple and easy to use.
Read moreThe food was incredible. Had the sushi set and everything was delicious, and clearly prepared thoughtfully. I would recommend going as many times as you can!
(A staff member also suggested visiting Bunkyo after seeing I was into photography, and I wish I could give an extra star just for that!)

Amazing meal - Edit
Sushi is well crafted and very tasty, easy to order and can order more. Well paired with the vegan sake offered and a small but tasty dessert. Small place and need to reserve in advance. Well worth it

Vegan sushi at its finest - Edit
Cool place hard to find upper staircase on a side street. Attentive English speaking staff. It's very simple because you just need to order one of the Sushi variety plates. The sake flight was great and one sushi was better than the other. Didn't have an easy time in Tokyo with vegan options, but this place makes it great. Cool vibe, changes over to small little lounge nightclub at night, not the Vegan Restaurant

A Do Not Miss - Edit
After 17 days as a vegan in Japan over 3 cities and 4 villages, this little sushi joint is a highlight and a recommended DO NOT MISS!
Read moreThe food is delicious and beautifully prepared. The staff are vegans and have excellent language skills. The atmosphere is on point.
They require reservations because fire codes prevents them from having people wait outside. However, you can take a quick peek inside and if it isn't too busy and they have room, they might be able to take you last minute.
Pros: The food, The staff, The atmosphere
Cons: They have limited hours due to sharing the venue.

We had the best vegan sushi with a glorious sake flight and an extremely tasty matcha doughnut for dessert. Every piece of sushi was perfect and beautifully presented, the sake was so smooth and in the cutest cups. Very much recommend if you want an amazing vegan sushi experience

Very good sushi - Edit
I made a reservation last minute for an early lunch. I really enjoyed the sushi here, it was incredibly fresh. I especially loved the shiitake and ‘shrimp’ ones. Would love to see more fake ‘fish’ options in the future!

Delicious sushi - Edit
This is a small, need to book restaurant that is devoted to vegan sushi. They have ten types of sushi and you can have a platter with one of each type. We loved the 'salmon', 'scrambled egg' and 'meat' flavours most of all, but they were all delicious. Service is fast once you have ordered and paid using a QR code. We also had the vanilla icecream with a matcha and soy flour crumb which was also lovely. Would highly recommend.

Cons: Booking is essential but it does mean you get in.

It was quite simply the best vegan sushi I ever had in my life. Very creative ways to imitate fish. The miso soup was pretty decent as well!

Lovely staff and venue, expensive sushi - Edit
The staff at Vegan Sushi were really lovely and their service was great. We didn't have to wait long for our food (we ordered the dessert set and it came out staggered). Food was overall good. Rating it 3 stars though because I think the food was really expensive for what it was. The presentation was really lovely, but flavour was lacking and it wasn't anything special for the price (over 4000 yen per set). Also you need to reserve in advance and they take around 3000 yen holding charge per person, which is steep.

Cons: Expensive, Could have more flavour, Booking charge

An incredible meal! - Edit
The prices were on the higher side and I don’t think I’ve ever had to make lunch reservations, but in the end this meal was well worth it. Every part of the sushi set seemed thoughtfully prepared; it all tasted incredible while maintaining a stripped-down appearance.

Best Sushi in Japan! Reservation required! - Edit
An amazing sushi restaurant! Don’t let the small size of this place fool you, they have big big plans for veganism in Japan and across the world! Everything they made for us was sensational. Go for the big platter and try everything they have to offer. What a place!

Excellent Sushi - Edit
We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! Reservations are essential, so make sure to book on their website.
Read moreIt's quite a small place and we were seated at the bar, but it didn't feel crowded or cramped. Staff were friendly and attentive. We ordered using the tablet, so it was all straight forward - though note that there is only one meal option (set plate of ten sushi pieces) so the only meal decisions are what drinks and desserts you want to accompany that. Payment is required when placing the order.
The sushi plate is served with miso soup and pickled ginger. The miso soup was tasty and had some lovely bits of tofu in it.
The sushi was excellent! We were all agreed that the scrambled egg was the only one that didn't work for us. It didn't have an eggy taste to me (no black salt and it just tasted of mayo), and the texture wasn't right either. The tempura shrimp also didn't totally live up to our expectations. The crispy texture was perfect, but there was no rubbery texture like we expected from the shrimp. Everything else was great. The pickled ginger piece was a wonderful surprise, really zingy and tasty. The tuna was my favourite, the mayo was used sparingly so the fishy flavour came through. I usually find avocado sushi quite uninspired, but the dressing on this one really elevated it. All the little touches of sauces and dressings were really good.
For dessert we all got the doroyaki - two little pancakes sandwiched together with red bean paste. They were sweet and tasty, but I wish we'd got the ice cream for accompaniment as it was a little dry.
There weren't many non-alcoholic cold drinks on offer. We all got the yuzu soda, which was fizzy and fun.
All in all, this was a really fun experience. It was nice to be able to try ten different flavours of sushi, and even when we didn't like one of them it still felt like a great deal.

Perfect first meal in Tokyo - Edit
Best sushi I’ve ever had - favourites were the egg (scarily realistic) and the tuna. We opted to try the sake tasting as well and enjoyed that. The interior of the restaurant is so cute and I loved that they were playing music from Ghibli films. You currently have to make a reservation to dine in, so don’t miss out!

Its amazing!
Read moreOnly downside is the reservation and ordering process. Basically you have to pay a deposit of 3000yen, which you get back. Then you have to access a different page via QR code in the store and pay (again) for the sushi. Feels a bit laborious but even then it’s still worth it!!!
Pros: Vegan sushi, Atmosphere
Cons: Ordering/reservation process

Unique and delicious sushi experience - Edit
Probably my favorite place of my entire Japan trip so far. The mixed sushi platter was absolutely delicious, the dessert (Japanese pancakes with red bean paste and vanilla ice cream) was outstanding. This is probably as close to a traditional sushi experience as you can currently get.
Read moreThe staff was also super nice and they even gave me a list of recommendations for other vegan friendly restaurants in Japan.
Definitely a restaurant I will return to at some point, either to see what new creative sushi variants they come up with, or to just order the exact same thing over again and be just as happy.
Pros: Really delicious, Friendly staff, Great relaxed atmosphere
Cons: On the expensive side, but well worth the money
