The most amazing gelato I've had - Edit
We visited this place multiple times during our stay in Syracuse. The gelato was too good! We tried mango, melon, mixed nut and dark chocolate. Dark chocolate and mixed nut was the best combination. Staff were so friendly and gave us all options once we mentioned we were vegan. Would 100% recommend and sad I won't be back!

The Best Vegan Gelato in Siracusa - Edit
Once I arrive in Siracusa, this is my go-to vegan gelato destination. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Pepe speaks English and knows the details of all of the vegan options. I typically go for the soy-based nut gelato, but they did not have it this time. So, I took Pepe's advice and tried the almond milk-based pistachio gelato. It was creamy and luscious. While many ice cream shops here offer fruit/water-based sorbets or dairy-free dark chocolate gelatos, Voglia Matta is the only one I've found that consistently has several vegan options that have the taste and texture of ice cream. I don't mean to sound like a sorbet hater, but I appreciate this spot for making a real effort for vegans.

Nothing not to love. The combo nuts with soy milk base is creamy and chewy. Perfect combined with mango or lemone. Yet to try the chocolate. (Beautiful book shop up the road, Zararan)

Had a choice of about 4 vegan ice creams as well as granita and sorbets. We had the mango ice cream and a nut (hazelnut , pistachio and almond) ice cream as well as pistachio granita, all of which were very good and decent portion sizes . Probably would have enjoyed it even more if we hadn’t just eaten ice cream moments before (couldn’t help ourselves with so many vegan options in such close proximity 😅!)

Voglia Matta advertises for vegan ice creams from their outside window and offers 4-5 vegan flavors including almond ice cream (terrific!). They also have a vegan cone and the staff knows well what veganism is. You have to ask them what flavors are vegan but they are very helpful. The staff is pro and friendly. Prices are very fair (less than 3 euros for a cone and a big scoop of ice cream. I recommend a stop!
