Authentic Chinese food - Edit
I didn't really know what to expect as my meat-eating had friend booked this, so I hadnt done my research. I was impressed - the whole menu was vegan and, as us vegans know, we're not used to having so much choice!
Read moreWe had the sweet and sour tofu, penang mushroom and other dishes I've forgotten thr name of! It was really busy for a Sunday night, so booking is advised and a testament to how good the food is.
Pros: The fully fledged creative menu

So good! - Edit
The food here was absolutely amazing. The staff were lovely, the menu was laid out well and it was clear what was vegan and what was vegetarian. There really wasn’t much that wasn’t vegan. Less than 5 dishes from what I could see!

Unique and flavourful - a real gem in Singapore - Edit
I'd go so far to say that if you only have 2 meals in Singapore, this needs to be one of them (the other a hawker meal, of course). Where else can you taste vegan/vegetarian peranakan food?! The menu is full of standouts - you can't go wrong. I'd list what I've eaten here, but it was all delicious and I haven't eaten the whole menu yet. Come with an appetite and come with friends - you'll want to share.

Enjoyed the food! Definitely worth coming back. Loved the Sawadee larb. Would have been better if lime slices was included.

The service was really good and the food was outstanding. We shared 5 plates between four with rice and it was plenty. It was hard choosing which was the best.

Excellent - dare to try the buah keluak!! - Edit
Tried the nutty buah keluak after seeing positive reviews but we're warned by the server we wouldn't like it as it was too bitter, but we wanted it anyway! Wow! Never had anything like it! It's large seeds and you are given a small spoon to scoop out the rich filling - it smelt and tastes like nothing I've had before but reminded me of dark chocolate and olives - my partner didn't like it, and I could only eat so much before feeling sick - would have been nice on bread or crackers. Everything else was delicious and massive portions - had to get half of it packaged to go. Really glad we went here.

Magic - Edit
I left the title from my last visit in 2008 when it was based on Geylang Road, and I believe it still stands true today. Back then, I thought it was a cut above most other places, and it still is.
Read moreWe shared four dishes, each very different but all top-class. I wish I could braise beancurd like they do, and the eggplant was flash-fried to perfection—soft but crispy on the outside without feeling oily.
Most of the menu is vegan, and if you have limited time in Singapore, this is the place to try.

Excellent shiitake rendang and more - Edit
Whole Earth has been a favorite of ours for years, with some of the best plant-based versions of classic Peranakan cuisine and other healthy creative dishes. They specialize is creative use of mushrooms in dishes that traditionally would use meat.
Read moreOur two go-tos are the shiitake rendang (the healthiest rendang we’ve had anywhere, and one of the tastiest) and the “nutty buah keluak” (which is almost never made vegan elsewhere, and is prepared in the slow, traditional way here but without animal products). These dishes make it clear why Whole Earth keeps earning the Michelin Bib Gourmand every year.
Other faves include, the sambal kangkong (or sambal eggplant), and the ngor hiang. The olive rice is very good, too.
Most of the menu items are vegan, but there are a few that contain dairy, egg, or honey. The dairy and egg items are marked on the menu with a tiny icon of a milk bottle or egg (so small they’re easy to miss so watch closely for them), but honey is not marked so it is best to ask.
Note the monkey head mushroom dishes are not vegan and apparently can’t be made vegan because the monkey head mushrooms they use are already prepared with milk.
Reservations recommended during peak mealtimes.
Enjoy!

Ordered the olive rice, Penang rendang, and sambal king. A bit pricey, but everything was delicious!

Amazing - Edit
Some of the nicest plant-based food I’ve ever had. Shared the two person meal and all the food brought out tasted great and was so interesting. It’s not cheap, but it’s a Michelin star restaurant so expected to be on the more expensive side. Despite this we only paid $88 SPD and then $14 for drinks - I had lemongrass which was lovely, and the lemon iced tea was great too

Full of flavor! - Edit
First time trying Peranakan food & we enjoyed flavors we never tasted before. Had the crispy golden oats tofu, enchanted Forrest with monkey head mushrooms, brown rice & sour plum fizz drinks. Everything was delicious & my spouse doesn’t like spicy, so I got a side of sambal chili which was really good & spicy. Service was fantastic. Would go again to try other dishes.

Whole Earth - Edit
I last ate at this restaurant in October 2019 and loved it. My only regret was not eating more food when I was there. Maybe I’ll have to change that this week while I’m in Singapore! See attached photo of the delicious food I had here.
