The Crown is unbeatable in its range and selection. The first time I went there years ago, I was afraid of getting lost😉The fruit and vegetable department has an unbelievable selection, including specialities that are not so easy to find elsewhere. I also love the fact that they grow their own salads and herbs (vertical farming). All kinds of veggie products are also plentiful to find at Zurheide, especially in the refrigerated section.
The patisserie at the entrance to Berliner Allee also has some vegan chocolates and cakes. If you need a whole cake, you can pre-order from three different ones here, which I also find quite handy.
-The Italian restaurant 'Maranello' offers a few vegan dishes.
-The bakery 'Büsch' has good vegan bread and rolls. They label vegan items.
-The patisserie has vegan cake, tarts and chocolates clearly marked with a green sign.
-The juice bar has a variety of fresh juice.
The supermarket (ground floor and basement) has:
-A large fruit and vegetable department including exotic items and many organic products.
-Many vegan snacks, chocolates, cake etc. (my insider tip is the chocolate from 'Madame cheri')
-A huge selection of chilled vegan products like alternatives to milk and meat.
-A variety of vegan groceries.
They have a bakery out front that has vegan marked items. I liked their selection but the prices really blew me away. They have some American products that cost 3-4 times as much in America. They have a shelf specifically for vegan and gluten free items, and they have the best selection of produce that I've seen in Dusseldorf.
Many vegan opt., staff poorly trained on veganisim - Edit
The self service fresh food area looks very inviting, however non of the food is labeled vegan, forcing one to read the ingredient list of everything that looks like it could be vegan. The staff in all departments of the store are unsure about what is vegan and where to find it. Mostly one gets sent to the one fridge that is labeled vegan, which also contains vegetarian foods mixed in. No clear labels here either
Great range of veggie / vegan products (amazing fruit and veggie section), juice bar... If you can’t find something in your everyday supermarket and you don’t want to order it from Amazon, you’re quite likely to find it here.
Lots of vegan items - chocolates, faux meats, frozen goods, beers. Nice vibe in the store and plenty of fresh fruit and veg too. The Pythagoras buffet listed on here is in the same building too.
Having been here a couple of times, I would say that they offer more than your standard selection of vegan products, such as vegan cheeses, plant-based meats, cold cuts etc.
But they also boast a considerable range of organic produce and their organic aisle offers also more variety than your standard supermarket.
