Amazing fresh veggies

Just like the other A food market in Oslo they sell a lot of vegan friendly products like noodles, tofu, sauces, etc. This particular shop has more faux meat options and a huge area of fresh produce.

Lots of vegan stuff

They have a lot of vegan Asian condiments and other products. Fresh tofu, deep fried tofu, tempeh, etc. And also the frozen section has vegan dumplings and vegan mock meats. They also have a lot of Asian vegetables and dried beans.

I am giving a 4 out of 5 because normally it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the expiration date of the products

Best in Oslo

The A Food Market at Osterhaus gate is part of a larger chain in Oslo, but this particular location really stands out. While all A Food Markets offer a decent selection of vegan products, this one has by far the best variety.

In addition to a wide range of fresh fruits and vegetables—including many items you won’t find in regular supermarkets—they carry an impressive array of imported vegan meat substitutes: lotus ham, fake chicken, bean curd rolls, vegan bacon, meatballs, and more. Most of these aren’t even available at the other A Food Market locations.

They also stock plenty of more standard vegan-friendly items like dumplings, ramen, and spring rolls, along with a huge selection of snacks and candies. My absolute favorite is their coconut ice cream. You’ll also find staples like tofu and tempeh at much lower prices than in other stores.

That said, I almost always end up spending more than planned—there’s just so much good stuff to discover. The staff are lovely too, often striking up a friendly chat when they see you buying vegan products.

Pros: Cheap, Lots of options

Cons: Sometimes sold out of the food I want
