Delicious - Edit
We got the plant based set menu and was really impressed. You get so much food! They let us swap out the dessert for a chocolate one. SO GOOD!

YOU MUST GO! - Edit
We did the plant based set menu and left feeling incredibly happy. All of the food was delicious. You get so much for your money and the service was second to none. This is a no brainer, best place we have eaten in Auckland so far. The highlight for me was the pudding, chocolate cake with a mousse and fresh fruit with crumble - DELICIOUS!

The service in this place is above and beyond. They offer the option to order ½ plates of certain things so you can try more dishes.

Incredible dinners - Edit
I went twice for restaurant month and they were serving a fully vegan set menu, most of the items are available on their normal menu and there is plenty to choose from! The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the eggplant and it's not on their main menu anyway. The dessert was absolutely incredible and the greens are a must! Great service and atmosphere as well, I'd definitely recommend booking as they get pretty busy during the dinner rush

Beware (NOT VEGAN) - Edit
They advertise vegan options but don't cook the food separately to the animal products and by the sounds of things don't even make the effort. I was advised they don't cook the plant based food in seprate oil frier so you are guaranteed cross contamination.

Delicious but quite pricey - Edit
I had dinner there and the food was quite fabulous. We had crunchy summer rolls, tofu-pineapple summer rolls, green papaya and jackfruit salad, and fried lemongrass tofu. Everything was delicious, with a special mention for the tofu-pineapple summer rolls and their dip: creamy, crunchy, zesty, fresh, and with a touch of chili, they were quite an experience! Most recommended.
Read moreThe restaurant is also quite beautiful, and the open kitchen is a spectacle in itself. The staff are very friendly and caring (it was one of the few times I was asked if I was allergic to something, and they seemed genuinely willing to commit all food was prepared accordingly).

Decent food, but not really fine dining - Edit
This place is so popular they don't take table reservations. You just have to turn up and get put on a wait list for a table. Once you are seated, the service is good. There are plenty of vegetarian options. I would say the food tastes fresh, and is ok, but for my own tastes, it feels a little on the blander side and not that exciting. Also I wouldn't go in expecting fine dining because it doesn't have that feel to it.

Fine Dining Vietnamese - Edit
Glorious food and great service. All the vegetarian options are vegan by default. Try the summer rolls. Best I’ve ever had. Returned twice during my trip to Auckland.

Beautiful dining experience - Edit
Well-marked vegan items, with lots of options. My boyfriend and I ordered three small plates to share: the crispy kumara rice paper rolls, sweet soy and pepper tofu, and warm cellophane noodles. All were fantastic. The ambience, decor, and service were also lovely. 5/5 would recommend when in Auckland!

This is one of my favorite places in the city! - Edit
All items on the menu marked with a ‘v’ are vegan - about 8 mains. I recommend the back soy tofu and the cellophane noodles, so so good. The Serisin white wine on the menu is a vegan wine too, and so are many of the cocktails.

Flavorful Vietnamese food with vegan options - Edit
There were only a handful of vegan dishes on the menu, but everything I had was delicious and wish I could have tried more. It's the kind of place where the food is so good that the few vegan options you have are perfect! The waitress was super understanding of veganism. I had the cellophane noodles and rice paper rolls, both were super tasty. Don't know how authentic it was but to me didn't matter too much as it was delicious :D plus super cute and pretty atmosphere.

Loved the sweet soy and black pepper tofu - Edit
Cafe Hanoi is a very central busy and trendy eating place in downtown Auckland near the waterfront. No reservations accepted but the friendly staff will do their best to seat you. The staff knew what vegan meant and I was pleased to see lots of vegan choices (7 dishes) on the menu. I loved the sweet soy and black pepper tofu the best. I would come back just for that dish. The lemongrass tofu was fine but as I was eating with someone who could not have mushrooms, it came without them and maybe they were the best feature as the dish was not very exciting. The rice paper rolls were fresh and full of crunch and flavour.

Delicious! - Edit
This place has some fantastically delicious food - the lemongrass tofu and cinnamon smoked mushrooms might be my favourite dish ever. Enough vegan dishes for a bit of variety, but not an excessive amount of choice.
