One of the best Indian restaurants in town

I have been to 2 other branches and none of them is as good as this one in Diamond plaza. There are 3 items marked vegan in the menu but you can easily make a few other foods vegan as well (my go-to is black dahl without ghee). You can also ask the server to use mushrooms instead of tofu if you want to mix it up a little 😉 Their Chinese food is not so great so I recommend sticking to Indian food!

Great vegan food

I was never at the restaurant itself but ordered some food. I always wrote them that it should be made vegan and when the food arrived it was also written on the package. So very trustful for me when it comes to vegan, because I have the feeling they understand what vegan means.. aaand the food so delicous. My favourite dish is the "special garlic mushrooms" they taste a bit like chicken wings. Really recommend Chowpaty :)

Pros: Delicious food, Know what vegan means

my favorite vegan place in nairobi

I love indian food so being able to get it vegan is amazing. it was my favorite place back when i was living in nairobi last year. they have a clear idea of what's vegan if you tell the staff you're vegan, they will tell point out what can be made vegan/is vegan. they have quite a few things. we usually order anywhere from 3-5 items and it costs around 2700-3000 shillings. curries are priced at 750, rice dishes around 500.
service-wise, it feels a little brusque at times. and we always order things that never quite make it to our table. we'd order so and so but why we don't get it has always been a mystery.

it's in diamond plaza so you can wander over to another place that sells gujarti snacks, bajia and samosas.

Pros: vegan indian food

Cons: weird communication

Fantastic menu and Tasty Food

We visited two very good veg/vegan restaurants in Nairobi. The first was very good but Chowpatti was even better . The menu is extensive with a wide variety of choices. The food itself is full of flavour.

You can also order from this restaurant on Uber Eats.

Pros: Extensive menu, Tasty food, Can order on Uber eats

Fresh food!

I haven't been here in a while but decided to pay them a visit. Our waiter was very jovial, I explained to him that I was vegan and wanted to make sure that my food didn't have any dairy or ghee. He seemed quite knowledgeable. I had the Pani puri for starters, so good!! Then the Masala dosa, it's huge but I polished it off. It comes with coconut Chutney & sambal. My husband got the veg fried rice with Chilli Tofu. The portions are quite generous!

Overworked and tired

Although this is a tried and tested menu for the main part, the staff seem to have stopped trying to get it right - very disappointed with basics. The dosas were OK. The toasted sandwich was mediocre. Wouldn't go back in hurry.

Pros: Quick service, Wide variety

Cons: Mediocre food

Excellent

A great vegetarian Indian restaurant. Nowhere near as bland as these places can often be. But don't go on a Saturday night as the local Indian band makes conversation impossible.

I tend to judge Indian restaurants on the quality of their paneer, and this had amongst the best paneer tikka masala I've ever had. My friend's biryani was more of a stirfried rice concoction, but was very pleasant. Everything was pretty fierily spiced - ask if you want it milder. Portion sizes were pretty huge - more than we could eat. Service was surprisingly slow given how massively overstaffed the place was - I gave up counting after the first 20 or so waiters, for a room with well under 200 seats.

Starters and main courses and beers for two was R$2100 (GB£20/US$30), not cheap but nevertheless good value.

It's not in the Diamond Plaza mall itself - it's located in a small strip mall beside s Shell garage nearby.

Pros: amazing paneer, good quality food

Cons: service slow, noisy music
