Great Desserts - Edit
Went for dinner just before Christmas. Narrowed it down to a few things to share: Ricotta Ravioli, Spaghetti Carbonara, and Chicken Parmigiana. Ravioli were great - delicious sauce with a hint of lemon. Only critique is that they could have had some more filling but flavor was great. Spaghetti carbonara was fine - pancetta was great. Chicken parm was good. The chicken itself was a bit thick and mushy, but the sauce and spaghetti were good. They came around with grated cheese which was a nice touch. Food was good, but dessert was really great. We had the olive oil cake as well as the lava cake. Both were outstanding! Staff was kind and attentive. #Veganuary

Great spot for vegan Italian - Edit
We were looking for an Italian restaurant with vegetarian options and stumbled upon this restaurant. We were able to secure a reservation for the same evening, which was a plus. The food was delicious. We had the kale caeser salad, the rosemary and olive bread with spreads, the tagliatelle with ragu, the pasta with vodka sauce, and the chicken parmasean and all were very good. Nice atmosphere. The only negative was that the service seemed hurried. Dishes came out with little pause in between courses, and plates were removed before everyone at the table had finished. The dessert menu was brought before my daughter had finished her meal. That said, the waitstaff were all lovely, and it was still a great dining experience.

Phenomenal - Edit
The food and service was amazing. However, I thought I had gone to the wrong restaurant/location when I looked at the menu because not every term is “Veganized” (example the words cheese and steak are used). But it is a full vegan restaurant and I was not disappointed. The “. “cheese”board, faux sausage ravioli, and the garlic knots were amazing. I wish I lived close to this place. I would be back often.

The food was delicious, and the staff was marvelous. Definitely pricey, but I think it was worth it. We got the meatballs with garlic knots, spaghetti carbonara, kale gratin, and dark chocolate lava cake. The spaghetti was good but kinda thick which threw me off a bit. Definitely coming back!

worth it! amazing, hearty dishes - Edit
everything was amazing. even as takeout, it felt fancy, the food portions were great, and they were arranged nicely. the chickn parm was my favorite bc the chickn texture and breading was expertly done, the cheese was actually melted on top, the sauce was delicious, pasta was perfect-chef's kiss. the chocolate lavender cake was so decadent and flavorful, with just the right amount of lave:cake ratio. literally zero complaints or recommendations.

Some hit or miss - Edit
I wanted to like the food, I ordered a big selection, but I can't say it was anything more than mediocre. Perhaps I'm spoiled by much better vegan restaurants I've visited in the past.
Read moreThe pizza was just okay—probably great if you haven't had a pepperoni slice in a long time. For me, the dough was lacking, and the cheese and red sauce didn't enhance it either.
The pasta was overcooked, the chicken parmesan tasted like cardboard, and the mashed potatoes seemed like they came out of a box. The only thing I really liked was the broccolini.
Stars are for a great range of selection and for the fact that the whole restaurant is vegan.
It’s not that bad that I would never go there again it’s just not that great either.
UPDATE
I changed my rating from 3 to 4 stars.
I was craving pasta and decided to give Coletta another chance.
Glad I did as the sausage ravioli is delicious and cooked perfectly!!!
Super yummy!

Fully Vegan, Great Service! - Edit
We’ve been wanting to try this sister establishment to Willow for a while, and glad we did.
Read moreWe didn’t make reservations, so they put us at the bar, but a table opened up before we decided what to eat.
There is a good variety of Italian-inspired menu items — we had a hard time choosing.
Started with the House Salad — arugula, onion, cherry tomatoes in a white vinaigrette dressing and Parmesan. A bit tart for my liking, but a good way to start out meal.
Second was the Puttanesca Meatballs — in a lemon brown butter sauce served with 4 garlic knots. For me, this was THE best dish of the evening. Six small, soft meatballs, bathing in a perfectly briny tomato sauce with capers & kalamata olives (puttanesca) — I could have had a bowl of this!
My gf got the Spaghetti Carbonara. She liked it, though would have liked more garlic. I did not care for the ‘pork’ bits — gross texture and taste, but she thought it was a good bite with the pasta.
I got the Chicken Parmigiana on spaghetti. I would have liked if the breading were crispy — this was not. The ‘mozzarella cheese’ was sticky and missed the elasticity dairy mozzarella usually has, and this was unappealing to me. However, in no-animal food world, it hit the spot I was looking to fill.
The sauce was too sweet for my liking, and I don’t actually care for spaghetti (much rather have capellini), and it was a bit soft. My gf thought the whole plate was good (and her name is on our doggie bag 😉).
We finished with the Strawberry Panna Cotta — oh my, this was exquisite! Smooth, fresh (with mint) and not very sweet. BRAVA! Such a simply beautiful dessert.
My gf enjoyed her rich, dark Decaf Latte. Kind of bitter with chocolate notes.
On our way out, we asked another dinner about her ‘steak’ — she said the flavor and texture was good, kind of like stew cubes (it’s served like a filet mignon).
Last bit — the staff was phenomenal — very attentive, made this a very nice dining experience.
Pros: The staff!, Interesting & varied menu, Reasonable prices for what we had
Cons: Bathroom is downstairs , All salads were arugula or kale, More vegetable choices on sides.
HDenny

Great place for Pasta! - Edit
We visited here on a Friday night without a reservation, and they were really accommodating and able to seat us quickly.
Read moreWe ordered within a few min’s of sitting down, and our server was lovely and polite, he offered to talk us through the menu too if needed.
I had the spaghetti carbonara and garlic knots, whilst my partner had pepperoni pizza.
The food came out quickly, and was piping hot and freshly cooked which was great.
I loved my spaghetti carbonara, but the portion size was small VS the price (but I guess that’s just fine dining). The garlic knots were great too, the perfect amount of garlic!
My partner enjoyed his pepperoni pizza, but didn’t love it. It was quite messy to eat as there was so much cheese and it was super melted. I did try some too, and it was delicious, but again quite messy, and a lot of cheese.
The tables in here are quite small and super compact, so once it got busier, it did feel slightly tight. As well as really loud with other peoples conversations, and the woman on the table next to us was loudly on her phone!
Overall, we did enjoy our experience here, and if we have chance to come back here again I definitely would. I just wish the portion sizes were slightly larger. With tip we paid just over $90, for 2 mains, 1 size and 2 glasses of sprite.
Pros: Great flavours , Lovely service , Food came quickly
Cons: Portion size , Price , Small tables

Excellent food, friendly service - Edit
This is my new favorite vegan restaurant in NYC. My friend and I ordered the cheese board, the fried artichokes, the steak, and ravioli. Everything was excellent. The cheese board was small but everything was delicious. The steak is unique, I don't believe I have ever seen "fake meat" like that ever. The texture wasn't really like steak, it was more like a well cooked roast beef, but it was very tasty and convincing.

Best Vegan Italian in NYC?? - Edit
Upon arriving for our second visit to Coletta, we ran into owner and renown vegan chef Guy Vaknin. It was a pleasure to meet the mind behind some of my favorite vegan food I’ve ever tasted. And I mean that. Coletta is just as good a second time, and I’m loving making my way through the menu.
Read moreThe first time there, we enjoyed some sausage ravioli, garlic mashed potatoes and a mushroom pizza. All around it was fantastic, however we noticed the consistency of the pizza was very very gooey. It wasn’t entirely easy to consume. Our most recent trip I went with the classic pepperoni pizza. While I really enjoyed it, I noticed that same approach to the melted cheese. It’s closer to melted cheese in like… Mac and cheese rather than a thicker mozzarella melt. That’s not an issue for me but it may be for others. Additionally we loved the calamari appetizer. The texture and chewiness was nearly identical to the real thing. Very very yummy.
Pros: Great menu, Taste, Nice staff
Cons: It is quite loud inside
