Disappointed

After all the accolades I was surprised. Atmosphere and service were fine. Prices were high for the standard of the food provided. We had the pumpkin ravioli - small serving and nothing special - no real flavour and the sage wasn't cooked enough. The carbonara was average - a large serving but boring after a few mouthfuls and not a good representative of a carbonara. For desert we had the
Caggionetti abbruzzesi - delicious but a tiny serve for the price. Presentation of the food too was lacking. The lasagne looks slapped on the plate. It probably didn't help that I'd been to Rococco the night before (similarly Italian) where the presentation was superb, large servings of very good food for a similar price and significantly cheaper drinks. The alcohol prices here are ridiculous.

Pros: All vegan , Atmosphere

Cons: Lack lustre dishes , expensive for what you get

Updated review, not so pleased

Mushroom truffle pasta is not to be missed. Words can’t describe how happy I am. The pumpkin ravioli in burnt sage butter was incredible. Highly recommend. The best birthday dinner of my life. Starters were fantastic, we had the Gorgonzola cheese platter and the Arancini stands outs as well.

UPDATE:
The pumpkin ravioli has changed and is no longer a burnt butter sage. Was super disappointed in this change and asked the waiter to send feedback to the chef.
The mushroom pasta however is the same and not to be missed. We also tried the gnocci with saffron this time and it wasn’t great either.

Nice

Great spot and atmosphere. Food was good. Good selection of Italian wine and beer.
It was nice knowing I can order anything from the menu and it’s all vegan

Massive let down.

This restaurant was meant to be one of the highlights of our trip to Melbourne. We were honestly shocked with how underwhelming and tasteless the food was. Doesn't deserve 2 stars. Been vegan for 10 years and never had such bad food at a fully vegan restaurant. At least the manager was kind enough to refund the entré dish after we expressed our disappointment.

Pros: It was quiet, no other customers

Cons: Poor hospitaly shown for an 'upscale' restaurant , Expensive for low quality, basic ingredients , Salt was only spice used it seemed

We went again to this place and I highly reviewed it and the quality and taste has definitely changed. It was very disappointing. I’m sorry you had this experience, this high key ruined our valentines

Delicious Italian food in iconic Hardware Lane

Absolutely delicious with depth of flavour and so well replicated i thought the parmesan on the rocket was real (it is all vegan)! The pistachio ice cream is divine. #Veganuary

Fully vegan Italian

I had the lasagne. It was nice but if you like a more cheesy/creamy lasagne with bechamel sauce, check out Gaz Oakley's recipe 😋 The vegan swordfish was good.

Pros: Friendly staff, Vegan swordfish, Fully vegan italian

To sweet but enjoyed it, pricey!

Had 3 meals. The lasagne was very tomatoie still nice just very sweet tasting. The eggplant fagottino was not to bad as well. I enjoyed the swordfish dish the best. Probably go for a ravioli or gnocchi.

Exceptional!

I love the fact that the menu reads like a "normal" menu, but all the ingredients are plant-based :)

Pros: friendly staff, lots of choice, affordable

3.75 stars: Pricey but good once in awhile

The pappardelle with truffle and mushroom sauce is my go to.
Also LOVE the calamari.
The tiramisu was a little disappointing as it was quite dry, it hadn't been soaked in enough liquid as there was no Amaretto taste, but the cream was really good, great texture.
Service was friendly, music was a little loud, felt like I had to shout.
Prices are too high.

Pros: Calamari, Pappardelle

It's my favorite vegan restaurant in Melbourne💘

It is a chic brick building with a very stylish interior. I don't think you can go wrong no matter where you sit, including the seats in front of you.
I've been there a few times and the service and food are always great.
Pappardelle Funghi e Tartufo is the best pasta I've ever had💮
I would like to try other dishes, but I definitely want to eat this pasta, but the portions are so large that it's difficult to try other dishes. 😂
This is one of my favorite places to visit in Melbourne.

Best Italian for Vegans

I went for my second time recently and the standard is still just as high as last year. Extensive (yet not overwhelming) menu, friendly and efficient service and super delicious food. The pumpkin ravioli was the best ravioli I’ve had. Great ambience, clean etc. Slightly expensive but worth it for the quality of food, portion size and service from staff. Can’t wait to visit again next year and try another dish.

Excellent Italian vegan

All plant based Italian restaurant. You need to eat here, bring your friends, great vegan food and wine. Even whiskey/tequila sour cocktails with aquafaba foam.

Back for our second visit. Amazing. The Pappardelle Funghi e Tartufo is fantastic. There will be many more nights here.

Pros: Almost can’t believe the ‘Calamari’ is plant based, Eggplant tagliatelle dish, and cheesecake and panacotta desserts 👍

Cons: Pumpkin purée in gnocchi dish lacked flavour

Have to disagree on the calamari and panna cotta. The other dishes look delicious though.

@Tiggy disagree based on photos? I’m sure this review was my opinion of the restaurant.

It looks like Tiggy reviewed this restaurant back in December 2021 when it first opened, commenting on both the calamari and panna cotta then (so opinion not based on photos)...maybe those dishes are better now? Great to see a fully vegan restaurant being well supported.

Indescribable

The quality of this meal was unbelievable-the care that goes into it is so obvious. The onions are so delicate & the flavours so balanced!

Great place

Had a wonderful delicious dinner. Located in a pedestrian area with lots of restaurants. We had a nice outside table. Started with the calamari and then Pappardelle Funghi e Tartufo finishing with tiramisu and a cup of coffee. Service was great. A good experience.

Fancy and worth it

The food is sublime, service professional and it is a true fine dining experience. We normally opt for much simpler places to eat, but F&T is out of this world and totally worth it for a special occasion. We chose the pasta options, so can’t comment on the mock fish etc. the Tiramisu was delicious too

Pros: Flavour, Great selection, Service/setting

Cons: Nothing really

A bit flash for me

I had to remind myself of some restaurant etiquette here because I don’t really have any! Wasn’t expecting it to be nearly as fancy as it was.

We got some pasta olives and a few glasses of vino and it was all amazing. Particularly the dish that shares the name of the restaurant, Fungi E tartufo, now that was special, some of the best vegan mushroom pasta I’ve ever had, and I’ve had some good vegan mushroom pasta.

Would come back, when I’ve got a higher paying job!

Pros: Excellent service, Fantastic dishes, Great location

Cons: Very expensive
