Fungi & fried food everywhere - Edit
New brick and mortar I had on my radar to try. Conveniently located and open during First Friday's in Oakland, so makes for a good stroll through vendors, art galleries and some vegan eats all at once.
Read moreSmaller establishment with no sign outside other than an a-frame sign, so if you don't see the sign, you might miss this place! The interior decor is nice and modern, though I'm not sure it 100% matches the food options. Almost feels more like a mid-level dining experience, yet fried fungi and burgers are your choices.
Order at the counter and pay at the counter. Food will be brought out. Most items are friend, so if you don't like or avoiding fried food, there might not be much here. Place is newer and feels like some things are still getting worked out. Had to ask for a drink menu and while the place only had a few other patrons, staff seemed a bit absentminded and also rushed.
Ordered the BBQ Cajun loaded mac and a Caesar Salad. The salad was highly enjoyable and the "anchovies" mushrooms were goooooood, though a bit too salty. The mac bowl as also pretty fabulous on taste with the right amount of savory and umami. Needed a bit more to eat and got a side of fries, which were disappointing, more soggy than crunchy.
Pricing overall was decent. Fun spot to try and would come back.

I've had great mushrooms before, but they take them to a whole new level here! I'm so happy that they're in Oakland, a great addition to the vegan scene in the East Bay.

Mushrooms have definitely got to be one of the best plants of all time. I tried the BBQ pulled pork burger and the hand cut fries. 10/10.

Like many folks we have been following Fungi Foods for a while and so excited to support their new location! Sounds like they will keep the farmer’s market stands for a while but this place is so cute and fabulous! We love it!!!!

Mash potatoes are great. Got the lasagna to go and will have for lunch or dinner tomorrow.
Had the lasagna and garlic bread for dinner at home. Best lasagna ever!
