SUBLIME !!! - Edit
I’m not a fine dining kind of guy but this was really great. Kind staff, good food, non-alcoholic arrangement was well done and beautiful atmosphere.

Great taste experience and service - Edit
I'm not usually one to fine dine, but I think Kasvio is a more accessible fine dining experience. I chose the 3-course menu, 2 non-alcoholic pairings, and an aperitivo snack. The variety of flavours and textures was really amazing, and all the staff was so friendly.
Read moreBut please, don't be like the Karen next to me berating the waiter for service being a little slow. This isn't McD. *Expect your meal to take between 1.5 to 2 hours, easily.*
Pros: Single menu (changes weekly), Choice of more savoury or sweet dessert, Stellar service

Just sublime.

The service by Jesse was impeccable, funny and so so kind.
Just go. That's all I can really say.
Thank you for this beautiful experience Kasvio 🙏💕

I had the 6 course menu extra dish, and it was beyond amazing. Such creative use of traditional Finnish cuisine. The staff was friendly, the dishes were tasty, the serving speed was perfect. Would definitely go again!

A bit less than 4 ⭐️ - Edit
I appreciated a lot the research behind every dish we ate and the taste was definitely nice but for the price I was expecting a bit more, both in portion size and quality. Don’t get me wrong, food is worth trying, just my expectations were higher since this is considered “fine dining”. Overall I enjoyed the experience and the staff was friendly but I am not sure it’s worth 63€.

Fantastic! - Edit
Recently moved from Leidsche Rijn to the Voorstraat (so the location here is not up to date yet), haven't been before because it was quite out of the way but had a great experience!
Read moreThe 'standard' menu is a 4 course seasonal menu, with an option of an extra appetizer and a 5th course, which we both got (and I would recommend as they were both very good).
All of the food is local and seasonal and very creatively put together. It fit the season very well and we also liked the option of non-alcoholic (kombucha and tea) pairings with each course which also fit the courses very well.
Serving sizes were also good, with the 2 extra courses we were very satisfied at the end of the dinner (and that's coming from someone with a very big appetite).
Service was also very friendly and professional.
All in all would fully recommend, prices are surely not low but I'd still say great value for what you get. We will surely be back!

Nice food, but we left a little hungry - Edit
The food is creative and well prepared at Kasvio. I liked how they used Dutch peas and beans (as well as other local ingredients) in some of the courses. Service was friendly and attentive. Unlike other fine food dining experiences we've had, this one left us a little hungry, and we went straight to a supermarket afterwards. The main reason is that it really is a small 4-course meal with bread and 2 palette cleanser type bites. I think that with the addition of 1-2 more courses, this would solve that issue. Or they could put just a little more food on the plate 😉 The kombucha pairing was interesting but the pours were quite small given it wasn't alcohol 😔

Go to for special occasions - Edit
The food is well thought out and delicious, the service is very nice and professional. I really love the three pairing options - wine, low alcohol and kombucha, so you don't miss out on the great pairings even if you don't want to drink alcohol.
Read moreThe only downside I can see is the location in case you're coming from outside of Utrecht and can't cycle or drive there. There is still an option to take a bus to a station close by, but a bit inconvenient.
The price point is a bit high, so it's somewhere I would only go for a special occasion.
Pros: Food, Service, Wine and kombucha pairings

Great for fine-dining and protein-rich dishes - Edit
Great restaurant with charismatic and relaxed surroundings and very nice staff.
Read moreThe food is very tasty and special, plus it’s protein-rich (at least when we were there). This is something that fine-dining restaurants usually lack: a lot of veggies but barely any protein sources. Their home-brewn kombucha is great as well.
Parking is for free at their terrain, but they don’t have that many spots.

Amazing experience and best food I've likely ever had! - Edit
TL/DR: Cannot recommend enough! Book well in advance. Lovely location. Amazing, creative, and well balanced dishes. Choose the non-alcoholic Kombucha pairing! Lovely and attentive staff.
Read more---------------------------------------------------------------------
We both picked the non-alcoholic Kombucha pairing and were so glad we did! The different and creative Kombuchas were complimenting the courses so, so well!
Every dish was amazing, so it's hard to pick any one favourite.
What surprised us was the freshness of the prunes breaking through every now and then and how well that went with the rest of the beet salad. The mushrooms themselves were amazingly done as well!
The poached watermelon was a marvel as well! The right balance between savoury and that iconic watermelon sweetness while also having a great "chewing structure" and a lovely pistachio coating. Surprisingly pairing incredibly well with samphire (zeekraal) and the incredibly creamy jalapeñosauce.
My mom usually eats anything without trouble, the only thing she absolutely hates is pearled barley however she absolutely enjoyed them in the zucchini involtini! The tempeh was delicious as well and the (Dutch) green beans too were masterfully prepared; fresh, sweet, and a juicy crisp. We both also enjoyed the hazelnut-sauce since it was very flavourful but in no way dominating.
The finger lime seeds on the cucumber sorbet was such a "ooooh! Aaaah! Wow!" moment for us. We never heard it before and it made it feel so special. The seeds, that look like some sort of translucent Caviar, are such flavour bombs! They gave a special "pow" to the otherwise "tame" flavours of the cucumber sorbet, even though the basil oil gave a well placed kick too.
After our main dessert, which was amazing too btw, we were surprised with some boterkoek! Which was amazing since I haven't had it since I went vegan which is years ago. Seeing my surprise the waiter told me they would come back and bring some more, so I expected 2 bites but they came back with a full small plate! Amazing!
I can go on and on about the food but it's best if you just book a table and go experience this yourself!
I also want to add that we felt very well cared for by our attentive and enthusiastic waiter who was willing to explain everything and had no trouble checking things with the kitchen if they didn't know.
Due to character limit I had to cut out a lot of this review. Just visit! You won't regret it, it's delicious!

Best vegan experience in Utrecht - Edit
Probably the best vegan experience I have had in Utrecht so far. Every dish was perfectly balanced and paired to perfection by their homemade kombucha.
Read moreThe team was also very friendly and the location (Metaal Kathedral) a must see.
Menu was:
- Buckwheat blinis with carrot tartar (fermented with Koji) and sour cream
- Green and white asparagus, Dutch beans, almond cream, asparagus bouillon, young potatoes, foraged pesto
- Amadeus sourdough
- Caesar salad
- Rhubarb sorbet, rosemary crumble, white chocolate, elderflower mousse
And the kombucha pairings were, in order: blueberry-juniper berry sencha; apple-rosemary daarjeeling; mandarin-fennel.
An explosion if flavor as you can see
Pros: Flavor, Local ingredients, Friendly staff
