Cool place - Edit
Cool record bar with an all vegan menu. Drinks were amazing and felt fancy. We got the smash burgers which were tasty. The fries were delicious

Great food, even greater cocktails - Edit
We did the disco fries (fantastic), samosa bites, and buffalo cauliflower wings and all of them were really tasty! Also got a couple of cocktails that were delicious. And it’s such a fun vibe. 10/10 would recommend!

Great atmosphere - Edit
Love the atmosphere of Life on Mars. Since it's a bar it can get loud at times in the evening, so if that's not your thing maybe not the place for you. The menu isn't huge but anything I have has here has been solid. The cocktails are great and they have mocktail options too which is nice. I feel its best for smaller groups as once we reserved for a larger group of about 10-12 and got given a bunch of small round tables in a row. This arrangement wasn't very comfortable and when food came it was a struggle to fit everything. When I've gone with groups of 3-6 it's been a lot better experience.

I think we made a mistake in not getting a bunch of their homemade appetizers. The burgers were just Ok.

Cool spot - Edit
Agree on the previous review that this is more focused on being a bar than it is a restaurant.
Read moreThat being said, it's a cool vibe. Food could be hit and miss, but has some great options.
It being open late is a huge plus too.

I think the phish tacos could have had a bit more sauce but overall we loved everything and would definitely be back

Now in the Brunch Rotation - Edit
We enjoyed the new weekend brunch menu and that we can now bring our dog as they have a couple of outdoor tables. 😊 The breakfast burrito is so satisfying.

Sorry about that. We do maybe 3-4 total private events a year. We reserve the vinyl room for parties all of the time, but the rest of the space is generally available.

Ducked in on Sunday afternoon for a solo lunch, and was pleasantly surprised when I realized it was brunch time. I had the Breakfast Waffle-wich which was an amazing choice. I topped it with both the provided syrup and some serrano hot sauce. 😍

It’s a bar! - Edit
I didn’t know this was going to be a loud bar. It’s mainly typical bar food. Fast service! The burgers don’t come with anything at all. No fries. No pickle. No nothing. Maybe order the fry appetizer and have it come with your burger? The Caesar wrap was excellent as were the cauliflower wings.

One of Seattle's last vegan options - Edit
Have been coming here for years. Very happy they survived both the pandemic and the fight that the mods of the now-defunct vegan facebook group picked with them a few years ago. On social media, it looks like they are struggling and state that, while expensive, they have not raised their prices in the last few years.
Read morePlus: Most of the food is great. They bring out a real menu! Aquafaba flips on the cocktail menu! Food always comes out very quickly. The ambiance is great! They seem fully engaged with the local community.
Negative: They add a service charge which does not go to the servers, then show you a tip screen that STARTS at 20% and defaults to 22%. This kind of pricing slipperiness frustrates me to no end.
In my most recent experience (October 2025) I had the crab cakes (excellent!) and the tiramisu, which I would describe as beautifully plated but unfortunately quite soggy and for me, not a successful execution of this dish.

Pros: vegan waffle sandwiches, sophisticated cocktails, cute concept

Hey there, we heard about the portion sizes and have increased our portion sizes on everything and they all come with sides now. I'll be honest that I've run a lot of bars and clubs, but rests. are a different animal. I've run a couple of them and been very successful but they were much smaller concepts than this. It's taken a minute to get our footing and the response has been really good so far. Just a heads up. Thanks for the feedback.

Great vibes and really good vegan food! My only complaint is they aren’t on any delivery service and you have to call in to place a to-go order. Really wish there was order ahead for pick up on their website!!

Mixed feelings - Edit
I went here for dinner last week and tried a few things.
Read moreThe platter was ok, I enjoyed the cauliflower wings. The ones with parmesan were my favorite.
The pot pie was really disappointing. The soup lacked flavor, it was not hot enough, and the biscuit was so stale and hard that I could not even cut it. Thankfully, the server was kind enough to remove it from the bill.
The person who was with me ordered the portobello mushroom, and I was told it was nothing special.
The desserts were good, so I guess the experience changes based on the dish you order.
That said, I think prices are high.

Cauliflower - Edit
We had a great day in Seattle at the waterfront. Looked up vegan restaurants and this one came up. Little of an uphill walk but worth it. Nice corner spot in a happening part of capital hill. Greeted right away, got a nice spot bye a window. Ordered a couple staters. Brussel sprouts and the large order of cauliflower wings, which you get to pick two flavors. We got garlic butter and buffalo. We both enjoyed all three starters. And they were nice size. We also did an order of pish and chips , not sure what they made the pish from but it was yummy. We will go back, also the service was great, very helpful with our choices. I hear brunch is awesome.

Life on Mars' business license in WA is technically listed as a bar so you have to be 21+ to be here. It's interesting how archaic our liquor laws in WA state are, but that's what it is. Glad you dug our nachos and fries. They are yummy.

Drinks & brunch - Edit
Extensive drink menu with killer mocktails and other NA options. We went there for brunch and really enjoyed the excellent service, cool vibes, and yummy food. Our favourite was the Disco Poutine Breakfast Bowl! Least favourite was the waffles (cold and chewy, not crispy)… but still highly recommend Life on Mars!
