Such a disappointent

We came here just because we were too hungry to go anywhere else. We did not expect much from a fast food joint, but were still disappointed. We got a classic hotdog, which was very simple and mostly bread. The chicken burger didn't taste like much, even though it was drenched in sauce. The sweet potato fries were okay, but not very crispy. The parisian mayo was good though. Honestly, the highlight was the Pepsi we got.
I cannot understand the good reviews. Either something changed or people just give 5 stars because it's fully vegan.
We were definitely expecting more based on the previous reviews.
I would not come back here. I feel like I could probably get a better burger and fries at a non-vegan place.

Oh that's disappointing. Not a fan of their hotdogs either. When I took an omni friend there, we both really liked their chkn burgers though.

I would agree. When I have been there it never lives up to the hype

Vegan Fast Food

Top tier vegan fast food. Not healthy at all, but that's not the point of this place. The fries were great, the hot dog okay, and the shake was amazing. Meant to go back for their breakfast sandwich but I ran out of time

Exceptional Food, even better milkshake

Food was really good, but the peanut butter milkshake was next level. Will certainly be heading back to get another one before the end of the trip. Only criticism is of the chicken burger, which although was really nice, had far too much mayo in.

Pros: Peanut Butter Milk Shake, Mac and Cheese Bites

Cons: Too much mayo

Sehr trocken

Wir waren zum Frühstück hier und waren leider sehr enttäuscht, da wir mehr erwartet hatten. Die Burger waren sehr trocken und ohne Geschmack.
Der Hashbrown war überraschend saftig und lecker.

Now with correct location

As per Happy Cow updates, the address is correct now. It's the kiosk on Flinders St on which could can see across the road from the end of Elizabeth St. Good for quick food before jumping on a train, I suppose.

Updated from previous review on 2025-11-22

Pros: near station, vegan

Cons: it's just a stand, no seating, quality has gone down over time

I could only get half way through the sample box in one sitting. It's a good amount of food imo.

There are two branches. One on flinders st/Elizabeth st and the other along swanston street/flinders street. Not sure if you got the other listing removed but you’re incorrect.

Kittybiscuit

To clarify, 3 branches including southern cross

No, the duplicated one was the one that used to be on Elizabeth St, as opposed to the one which actually is on Flinders.

I walked down Elizabeth st about a month ago to confirm,.

Went to flinders st today. 1 on swanston and 1 on flinders st so there are 2 plus southern cross in the city

Still not willing to admit you were wrong? I’ve asked for the shop 5 flinders st (on swanston st) shop to be reinstated. You’re clearly not in the city on. Regular basis

Read my Jan4 comment. I said the ELIZABETH ST ONE WAS GONE AND WAS CORRECTLY REMOVED. SIGH.

You can quadruple down and mansplain as many times as you like but both branches at Flinders Street Station are still open. SIGH! Pathetic!

Before you try and lie about what you really meant, I will leave this quote from you in response to another review: "As of Dec 2025, there's only two stores left in Melbourne CBD: Flinders St, opposite Elizabeth St, and the northern footbridge end of Southern Cross station".

> "As of Dec 2025, there's only two stores left in Melbourne CBD: Flinders St, opposite Elizabeth St, and the northern footbridge end of Southern Cross station".

I'm only reporting what Google has:

https://www.google.com/maps/search/lord+of+the+fries/@-37.8210081,144.9508114,14.42z?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI2MDUyMC4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D

The important thing here is that there were not TWO LoTFs on the junction of Elizabeth and Flinders.

Go back and look at previous history at Happy Cow.

And if you want to roll the dice for 8x., then show me photos of BOTH of the LoTFs at Flinders-x-Elizabeth.

Or go away and stop harassing people trying to keep HC correct.

Sadly disappointed.

I was looking forward to visiting this place but as disappointed to find their menu is very limited. No sides, no breakfast items and only half the burger choices of other LOTF stores.
The food we did get was ok but nothing special.

Miss you guys in QLD

Ever since LOTF shut in QLD, I've been living vicariously through the Mac & Cheese boxes at Coles. Finally got to Melbourne and the first thing I got was a munch box. God, I miss the nuggets.

Pros: Nuggs, More nuggs, Nuggs the Third

Cons: No more LOTF in QLD, The dim sims in QLD were amazing, Please come back up north

Tasty convenience!

Wish we had Lord of the Fries in London! Admittedly not so good if you don’t like junk food, but for those of us who do, it’s great value and so convenient.

At this branch, we had the tasty nuggets - yum!

Pros: Convenient , Great value, Tasty

Interesting that Flinders St Station has two LOTF stores basically on opposite ends. Pretty consistent vegan fast food though.

Burger ok - Pommes lieber nicht

Wir waren heute im „Lord of the Fries“ und wurden von den Pommes sehr enttäuscht. Versalzen und nicht ansatzweise knusprig. Schade. Keine Sitzmöbel

Pros: Schärfe vom Spicy, Personal nett, Melbourne

Cons: Pommes, Location, Preis

Drowning in mayo

I'm surprised this is my first review here as it's definitely not the first visit. Like most LOTF, it has failed to deliver repeatedly, but sometimes there's just nothing else around that's vegan so it's revisited.

On this occasion, I ordered the 'Stinger' which is described as 'melted cheese, bacon, Spicy Mayo & fresh lettuce in between toasted buns'. If there was lettuce in it, I didn't find it under all the mayo that had been heaped into the burger. I ended up discarding the bread roll and eating just the patty (which was actually really good) and the slice of facon, because the rest was inedible. It seems to be a bit of a bad trend at the moment to coat everything in so much mayo that you can't taste anything else...

If I need to eat here again, I may just ask them to skip the mayo and see how that pans out.

Pros: It's vegan, Quick service

Cons: Too much mayo, Inconsistency in food preparation/presentation

Great fast food joint

We landed in Melbourne around noon and LOF was nearby. We got some very tasty hamburgers delivered to our room. It’s a great franchise that I believe most of its customers don’t even realize it’s plant based.

Vegan mc Donald’s

You kind of need to be lucky with the person preparing your meal had a few times were the fries were not good or there was just to much sauce on the burger, you couldn’t taste anything else but in general lord of the fried is great if you crave fatty food. The biggie is literally how I remember Big Mac from mc Donald’s

Hits the spot

The people here rock. The menu is extensive and the food tastes exactly like you wanted it to. It’s like if Maccas was vegan but a whole lot nicer. Huge plus for not serving carcasses, defs pay them a visit !!
Also has two sides to it, one on the ticketed side and one on the street side. Enjoy friends😄

Pros: Super friendly , Comfort food , Convenient location

Can't go wrong with LOTF

LOTF is my go-to comfort food and I nearly visit all of their branches BUT I just need to let everyone know that the Flinders St. outlet has by far the friendliest service. All smiling when serving me and I observed they also patiently helped and explained the menu to the customers after me, again-with a smile. Totally impressed and very happy with the food and the service 🩷 Thank you Team LOTF.

Pros: 1. Consistency, 2. Friendly staff, 3. No cross-contamination of animal products

Serves a purpose

Found this a difficult one to rate, this was probably my first ‘greasy’ corner burger bar since being vegan and it fits that description very well so if that’s all that matters then 5 stars I guess?

It didn’t blow me away and I found the menu lacking any description of what the difference between any of the burgers were. It serves a purpose and I’m glad it’s there, fast vegan food
