One of the Best Vegan Restaurants in the City - Edit
The three of us shared the Baked Crab Roll, Queen Caesar, Bang Bang Broccoli, 1000 Layer Crispy Potatoes, Udon Noodles, and Singapore Noodles. For dessert we shared the Pumpkin Cheese Cake. All were delicious, perfectly prepared and presented. Efficient and friendly staff. Lovely ambiance. Very popular too.

Best Meal in NYC - Edit
We spent 3 days in the city, basically eating in every vegan restaurant we could fit into our schedule and stomachs. This was our favorite by far. Casual vibe, creative Asian-inspired food, great service. Will be our first stop next time we are in NYC.

Do you by any chance know if they have brown rice?

@INTJ_mara I don’t believe so as they mostly have white rice in their dishes, but they might!

Seriously! - Edit
This is the pinocle of vegan cuisine. The absolute crème de la crème. If this was everyone’s experience of vegan food the whole world would go vegan. The menu is huge and varied, the dishes are fresh and meticulously appointed and the servers are friendly and knowledgeable. Absolutely unbeatable. I would eat here every day if I could!

My new favourite NYC restaurant - Edit
This is honestly one of the best meals I’ve ever had! Highlights were the thousand layer potatoes (exactly how I remember caviar and sour cream tasting), the ahi crispy rice and the sesame cold noodles. Worth every cent!

Wow wow wow - Edit
One of the best meals I have had in my life. I got the crispy fried rice, the truffle avocado sushi, a spicy tuna roll, and the layered potatoes. All I can say is WOW it all blew me away. The potatoes and truffle avocado sushi were especially to die for. The cocktails were also wonderful and it was a great vibe! It was definitely busy and you should make a reservation.

Nice place for dinner! - Edit
The food is nice, but maybe a bit on the unhealthier side (very few options with protein). The interior is quite dark so I liked using the patio during daytime.

Always a BANG (BANG) - Edit
TL;DR— LOVE ALL THEIR DISHES.
Read moreI’ve come to Planta Queen a few times— most recently for Maki Monday where you either choose $9 Maki rolls or $29 endless Maki rolls. It’s a great deal considering one Maki roll at Planta Queen can be $16 on an average Tuesday night.
I really love their vegan sushi— and I’m not new to the vegan sushi game. I’ve gone straight to the source: Beyond Sushi too and I’m a huge Guy fan. (One of his many NYC restaurants). I love their baked crab roll in particular, it takes two bites and it just is delicious. It’s made with hearts of palm and between the texture and flavor, the crab is spot on. Their bao buns never disappoint. Bang bang broccoli is a must. Their spicy tuna is just SO great too. You can’t go wrong.
Pros: Maki Monday rolls, Bao, Green tea

Will be back!!! - Edit
I visited this restaurant with my non-vegan friend for a girls' brunch, and we both thoroughly enjoyed the food. Every dish we ordered was meant for sharing, beautifully presented, and incredibly delicious. Among the many dishes we tried, my personal favorites were the spicy tuna roll and the avocado tartare - both were outstanding.

Best sushi, cocktails and desert - Edit
Wow I love this place so much! The sushi is to die for. Lots of whole vegetables options, no substitute or fake meats so I love it! The cocktails are so tasty and the brownie desert with the ice cream and fudge sauce is incredible. I was dipping my finger in the sauce pot to get every last drop! Highly recommend! Also just lovely ambience and decor.

Best of the best -- you definitely want to eat here - Edit
I've traveled a lot. I've eaten at a lot of restaurants, and specifically at a lot of vegetarian restaurants.
Read moreI came away from Planta Queen NYC completely blown away. The decor. The food. The presentation. The service. Absolutely everything was beyond my expectations.
I personally ordered the spinach dumplings and a poke bowl. I've had dumplings lots of times before, and we even make vegetarian/vegan poke bowls at home. How different could they be?
Answer: Amazingly good. Better than most I've ever had before. The dumplings were perfectly steamed, with fresh vegetables inside that retained their crunchiness. And the poke bowl? Beyond my expectations, presented in vivid color and with fantastic flavor.
Everyone else in my five-person party was equally pleased and delighted. Everyone came away feeling like this was one of the best meals they had ever had, vegan or not.
And the service? Wow. One person in our group asked for the spicy stuff on the side. Another asked for a kind of variation on their normal coffee. The waitress went out of her way to say that she would do whatever needed in order to make us happy, if she could.
As someone in our group pointed out, there wasn't any music playing. And the waitress gladly seated us away from other people, so that we could talk without bothering (or being bothered by) others.
Yes, it was a bit expensive, but it was 100% worthwhile. A classy place in every way. I cannot wait to return.
Pros: Delicious, Fantastic variations on foods you've had before, Terrific service

Torched and pressed FTW - Edit
Everything was good, but the Torched and Pressed roll and eggplant unagi nigiri were our favorites. The torched and pressed had such an amazing complex flavor from the torch, the miso glaze and dollop of truffle purée. The spicy tuna and dragon rolls also get honorable mentions. We tried a couple of the dumplings (spinach shiitake and potato truffle) and they were good, but not sure we’d order them again.
Read moreNote to future self: come in on a Monday for all you can eat sushi for $27.
Edit: We came back and tried a few new things and a couple old favorites. We got the avocado lime tartare, which my partner really liked. I thought it was ok, reminded me of guacamole so I would recommend this if you like avocado or guac. We also tried the bang bang broccoli and the Philly crunch roll (may special). The bang bang broccoli has good flavor but it’s a bit too heavy for me. I didn’t like the textures of the asparagus and cream cheese in the Philly crunch roll but my partner liked it. We also got the baked crab roll and crispy rice roll. Both of these were good, the though the crispy rice was also a bit heavy. I think the baked crab was my favorite new thing I tried. It had a chewy texture I enjoyed and felt a bit lighter than the other dishes. I might order it again next time. The torched and pressed and eggplant nigiri are still our favorites.

Bang Bang! and Torched & Pressed! - Edit
Even on limited time, I make it a priority to visit PLANTA whenever we’re in the same city. I walked here from the Empire State Building, and it was bustling on a Saturday evening. I happily sat at the bar.
Read moreFIRECRACKER ROLL
This was on their April exclusive menu. Filled with Japanese sweet potato, avocado, unagi, and topped with gochujang mayo & chili salt. DELICIOUS! It deserves to be a staple menu item.
TORCHED AND PRESSED
One of my go-to menu items. This roll is so melt-in-your-mouth creamy. I drool every time. I even convinced some girls sitting at the bar to order this roll.
BANG BANG BROCCOLI
My numero uno go-to dish since I visited the SOBE location a few years ago. Will never not order this. Crunchy. Flavorful. Amazing in every way.
As they were leaving, a couple asked me about this dish and I let them each have one floret. They were sold!
(Not all PLANTAs have the same dishes, but luckily, two of my favs have been at all the ones I’ve visited: FL, CA, IL, & NY.)
TRUFFLE RICE
I tend to avoid the main dishes and stick with starters and sushi, but I wanted to try something different. Unfortunately, I should’ve followed my instincts. It had a nice flavor to it, but it was dry and the rice was overcooked. Disappointing. There was so much potential with the cumulation of ingredients.
As a PLANTA Passport holder who doesn’t live near a PLANTA, I was excited to be able to use my birthday reward - a free dessert! But they didn’t have my fav available- the giant chocolate chip cookie, so I ended up passing on dessert.
Service was great. As busy as he was, he kept my water glass filled.
The worst part about my visit is that I rushed out to catch my Uber back to Brooklyn and left my leftovers on the counter. I may have shed a tear about it.
Tip: there are outlets and hooks at the bar.
