Vegan artisan cheese jackpot - Edit
They carry many fabulous brands. If you are looking for vegan artisan cheese in Eugene, this is the place to go. If you are in Portland, Vtopian sells so many different brands.

Amazing Natural Food Store in Eugene - Edit
I lived in Eugene several times over more than 20 years and last in 2015. Sundance has to be the coolest natural food store I have ever been in. I love the folks who work here and the vibe. I do believe it is all vegetarian with heaps of vegan options. They have local produce and feel it is all organic. A wide variety of mushrooms and a great bulk section.
Read moreThe hot and cold bar are both phenomenal. My biggest grip is that when I lived here prior in years past the sandwiches were much better. I used to love the TLT aka tempeh lettuce tomato and reuben. Fast forward to the Summer of 2023 I ordered a pesto chick-unsandwich. I found it underwhelming. It was very dry and wasn’t fresh. For $8.95 USD could have been much better. I also tried the Tempeh for another meal as I packed both for later. The Tempeh Reuben was only slightly better than the other sandwich. Both sandwiches were underwhelming and it is too bad they weren’t as good as when I was last here.
Pro tip: Go with the amazing salad bar and hot bar. Be sure to check the dates aka when the sandwich was made and best by date.
Kiva aka natural food store downtown has sandwiches made to order.
4 stars for a one star reduction to the underwhelming sandwiches rounded up to 5 stars because Sundance is still one of my favorite natural food stores on Momma Earth for the friendly staff, folks who shop here, awesome store, and amazing salad bar and hot bar.

Lots of vegan options - Edit
This place is pretty big inside and has lots of options. It is very expensive (think $6 for a box of Nature's Path cereal). They have a help-yourself hot bar (as of 4/4/2022) and lots of pre-made vegan sandwiches (all marked vegan) and lots of vegan dessert. They also have produce and a small alcohol selection. I wouldn't shop here regularly because of the prices, but as a visitor in town, I'd get a sandwich, which were around $9.00.

Great Store for Vegans (and others) - Edit
This is a must for all vegans in Eugene! Prepared vegan sandwiches and salads, different cheezes, extensive bulk and coffee bean sections. Lots of fresh organic fruits and vegetables. They even have 'fill your own' soap and shampoo! Everything you would need for your groceries. And the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.

The most amazing produce section - Edit
This place has the biggest selection of amazing local produce and vegan products I have seen here in Eugene. There was one employee I witnessed being fairly rude to customers and other co workers. She almost pushed a lady down trying to get behind the register, and definitely was not being cautious about social distancing. But everyone else was very nice and helpful, even being as busy as they were!

Disappointed - Edit
I was pretty disappointed by this place. First, I was told by someone (who was obviously misinformed) that Sundance was completely vegetarian. I now know that it is not. As it's been said in the reviews before, the store is small and unorganized, which made it difficult to maneuver.
Read moreI ended up getting lunch from their salad and warm food bar. This also was very disorganized. Not only did I not really know how it worked, but nothing was clearly labeled. I think everything on the bar was at least vegetarian, and a lot of which was vegan, but it would not have been much more work for them to label each of their foods as such. I had to read through the ingredients of each one, which took additional time that could have been easily saved.
Lastly, the food was expensive. My two medium sized containers from lunch costed almost $13. I looked at their sandwiches (which sounded amazing) but they were each at least $7 a piece.
Just wasn't that pleased! But, you should still give it a shot yourself, maybe you'll have a different experience!
Pros: Vegan Friendly, vegan cheese
Cons: unorganized, not labeled , expensive

A wonderful find - Edit
I am a Whole Foods addict. When I am traveling I always look for there salad bars. Sun dance out while foods to shame. Sourced local produce that looked and tasted amazing. I planned on doing a salad bar trip and then a hot bar trip. I loaded up too much on the salad bar so can't tell you what the hot bar tasted like but it had lots of amazing vegan dishes. The salad bar was awesome and here were about 10 prepared salads that were all amazing and vegan. If you are traveling through Eugene I highly recommend a stop here. Ask for Raw. She was amazing.

Knowledgeable Staff - Edit
The staff here knows their stuff. Ask any question in the vitamin section especially, and you'll come away with a ton of knowledge. They're pretty friendly too. They specialize in vegan food, there isn't a single piece of meat anywhere in the store. They carry Daiya and Dr Cow vegan cheeses. All the produce is organic. They buy local as much as possible. And they thoroughly research their products. You can rest assured that what you get here is the best available, for both your own health, and the environment's. Also check the distressed produce shelf. Stuff that's not that fresh, but not at all bad, is marked down 50%.

Thanks for the correction Kindlizard. Guess they do have a little animal. I had never noticed it.
Pros: Mostly vegetarian, Knowledgeable Staff, Distressed Produce
Cons: Small, Health Store Prices

Just a note: they do sell tuna fish and chicken broth, both are obviously not vegetarian.

You can't be serious... - Edit
5 Stars for this place? I guess everyone is made of money and they love feeling claustrophobic walking down grocery store isles? The most expensive grocery store in town, period. Retail all the way, their "discounts" are a joke. The salad bar & hot bar are both very bland and tasteless. Did I mention you will have to tuck in your elbows just to walk around in the place? Hipsters & Yuppies everywhere (tis the neighborhood) so if that's your scene then party on Garth...

My all time fave HF store - Edit
The produce section is all OG, much of it is local. They put tired looking produce on sale for 50% right away; you can get some treasures there. The mushrooms are divine here, the best and only place to go for any kind of mushrooms, most (all?) of which is local. Really the produce is the highlight, but they spend a lot of time prepping the veggies before staging them, maintaining them, and it really shows. Great produce section, though the quarters are tight. So the best mushroom selection in terms of breadth and in terms of quality and freshness. This alone makes it the best HF store I've ever been...
Read moreThe store is a bit tight in general, but it works and the food there is top notch. The staff has been very nice and helpful, an improvement over the last decade. The hot bar is average, though the salad bar is excellent.
I think their nuts in bulk are not always the freshest, but I don't know how long they sit either on the shelf or in a warehouse before the store. I just know the last time I bought almonds and cashews there they were too dry to grind into butter and were not oily. That would be my suggestion: to look after the bulk area w dates and such; maybe they already do and they just had a bad bunch of nuts, who knows...
The have a great wince cellar around the corner on Hilyard which is extensive, I believe I heard the most wines in OR... possibly. They just moved from the alley to the main street, and I haven't been there yet, but I don't imagine that would change their great attitude.
Never enjoyed a store more than Sundance...

Awesome! - Edit
Great place for organic, local, vegan, raw, and bulk stuff! The BEST place for vitamins, etc! The BEST place for wine (separate building), without a doubt! Very nice beer selection! The salad bar is amazing with great raw choices! As for the hot bar, you cannot cook a hot organic meal yourself for less money! The people are great and want to take care of you. The store is small but is run so efficiently, during the busiest times you barely wait for checkout. BTW, if you want locally foraged mushrooms, this is the place to buy them...beautiful morels, hedgehogs, chanterelles, black and white truffles, etc.
