Delicious vegan doughnuts

These doughnuts are so good. I wouldn't ever be able to tell they were vegan if I didn't know.

Too sugary for me

We tried vegan donuts from three different shops in Portland, and Voodoo was my least favorite. It’s great that they offer so many vegan options, but the donuts I ate had too much thick, sugary-sweet glaze on them.

Pros: Many vegan options

Cons: Rushed process to order and get out of the shop

Multiple Vegan Options!

It’s so rare to have so many vegan options for donuts. When she told me the entire bottom shelf was vegan i squealed! The maple bar was delicious as well as the portland crème. We went on a weekday at like 7pm and there was a line to get in.

The Vegan Chocolate Ring

Tried 2 other vegan donut shops prior to Voodoo during our stay. We’ve been to the Hollywood location so we weren’t planning on stopping. I was really looking for that sweet chocolate fluffy donut 🍩 and didn’t get it at the first two places. Voodoo delivered! The line situation for this place is wild but it goes quick. Definitely worth a try for some vegan donuts!

Pros: Vegan chocolate ring, The dirty bastard

Cons: Line

Disgustingly sweet tourist trap

Don’t waste your time and money here. Not only are the donuts sickeningly sweet but they also treat their employees horribly. There are so many amazing vegan donuts in Portland and this is not one of them.

The magic is in the vegan doughnut holes

Lots of vegan options; had an Ol' Dirty Bastard, Apple Fritter and Portland Cream. Large doughnuts, and good service - when the clerk realized he accidentally put a non-vegan fritter in the box, he offered to give us another box instead (we declined, but I know others might be concerned about this so wanted to mention it, as it felt like a good detail). We didn't have a long wait in line, which was lucky. Even still, I'd say it would be worth it.

Pros: Good service, Lots of vegan options

Cons: Lining up, Menu outside didn't show all the vegan options

Two Dozen Vegan Doughnuts

It’s a fun spot to take tourists to, and there are about two dozen vegan doughnuts to choose from. However, there are plenty of other fully vegan doughnut shops in the PNW that I would rather go to if I’m on my own.

Pros: Creative and fun flavors

PDX Must Visit • Vegan Sugar Rush

I’ll always remember the first time I came with my best pal (pre-pandemic).

Stopped in today and ordered the Voodoo and Maple Cream. That maple cream was super tasty!

Bring patience as lines can get long! Various vegan options available, but bummed they didn’t have any of the Halloween seasonal ones that were vegan (frown face).

Pros: PDX Must Visit, Rad Decor Inside and Out, Vegan Options Available

Cons: Not Fully Vegan/Plant-Based, Seasonal Doughnuts Not Made Vegan (?), Lines Can Get REAL (Harder When Chilly Out)

Sugar high

Walked here from our hotel at 7 am because my husband wanted donuts after many hiked miles yesterday. I didn’t expect to find anything for myself, but lo and behold … they have a great selection of vegan donuts! I had the Portland Cream. Wow, yum.

A Must While in Portland!

Although Voodoo doesn't have the absolute best donuts, it's such a staple while in Portland. They even have vegan cream filled donuts which is crazy rare! I've tried the maple cream filled, maple bar, and dirt donut and loved all three.

Great staff

A staff member here traded a boom box for doughnuts and drinks. The donuts were pretty great overall and they had amazing drinks.

Cream filled

It's been a very long time since I've had a cream filled doughnut. They were large doughnuts. Good amount of bread to doughnut ratio.

Sugar overload

So thankful that Voodoo has vegan donut options! I haven’t had Voodoo donuts in years and I couldn’t believe how I used to smash 1 or even 2 of these giant sugary donuts in one sitting. I felt a little sick after eating just 1/2 of the vegan Old dirty bastard donut! Ended up having to scrape off some of the toppings. My favorite ended up being the vegan Boston crème😄

Pros: Vegan donut options, Big donuts!

No line mid-day!

There was no line but the security guard was only letting people in one group at a time. Fortunately not a long wait and I tried the maple donut which was awesome! The other location off Sandy is better if you’re looking for somewhere to hang out and sit while eating.

Not worth it

Go elsewhere you won't have to line up, too sweet and too big

Old Dirty Bastard in Dirty Old Town

I chose an Old Dirty Bastard, which is a raised ring with chocolate frosting, chocolate cream-filled cookies, and peanut butter drizzle. It's super sweet and fairly large, so I later regretted all the sugar, but it's a good occasional treat.

Warning: Expect to wait in line.

Pros: several vegan flavors, clearly-marked vegan doughnuts online and in shop

Cons: busy

Best Doughnuts

I first tried Voodoo Doughnut back in April while in Denver, Colorado. I fell in love with the donuts and tried a few different flavors. Was visiting Portland for a few days and they were at the top of my list. Ordered the Voodoo Doll, plain glaze, Apple fritter, Portland cream, and the chocolate ring (all ordered vegan). Somehow they were even better than I remembered them to be.

Decent vegan donuts

We tried a few old dirty bastards because voodoo is across the street from our hotel. The donuts were pretty good, not overly impressed but they were close by. This place has nothing on big-o donuts in SLC.

Pros: Plenty of options

Cons: For sure not the best vegan donuts

Is it worth it?

A friend wanted to go here and try it even after I warned them it was just an over hyped tourist trap donut shop.
The best I can describe it is the donut creations are like a sloppy drunk, stoned college student going nuts on munchies sugar craving binge.
