I'm Jessian Choy. You might know me as that person that mailed my menstrual, leakproof organic underwear to a professor who found toxic, non-degradable chemicals in it that end in our water. You might also know me as that person that researched and worked on fun and draconian tricks for a happy, equitable, green world since 1999. My bag of tricks include public speaking, journalism, advocacy, policymaking, fundraising, marketing, leadership, and even non-culty, fun and utopian "trips" to be happy, equitable green, or vegan through evidence-based hypnotherapy comedy-tations, reiki energy work, and sound therapy. I also serve on the board of Food Empowerment Project and Earth Island. By night, I share fun and draconian tricks, occasionally via dance videos, mad libs, behavior change, negotiation and public speaking workshops, and give talks on affordable housing, public transit, and all things vegan (including friendly policies). Deeper into the night, I write books for kids and the kid in all of us to heal. And I petition dictionaries to be less sexist, makes pins, and builds a movement to add something like this to email signatures and bios: “she/woman” not “guys,” “woman” not “girl.” Out of all my tricks to create change, learning hypnotherapy, reiki energy work, and sound therapy was where I saw different, long-lasting changes in myself and others.
