We came a thursday night and there was a line (!), we waited maybe ten minutes but the food ordered came super fast. Of course the staff seemed stressed but they were all friendly anyway. The food was just to die for, such depth I love it!

Ich würde 4.5Sterne verteilen. Es gibt viele kleine Bowls, also sehr viel zu entdecken. Das Essen ist köstlich. Der Ort sehr angenehm. Leider ist das Personal eher ineffizient, man muss oft etwas warten, da das Lokal viele Besucher*innen hat und die Mitarbeitenden sind teilweise etwas überfordert. D.h es kommt zu Wartezeiten bei Platzzuweisung und Bestellung. Bin aber schon mehrmals dort gewesen und würde wieder gehen. Das Gesamterlebnis stimmt.

When 1990 opened I was hooked instantly. The food is really good. Even though I feel like the food isn’t what it used to be like anymore - a lot of dishes just taste the same.

My favorite restaurant in Berlin.As a local I go here almost every week although it is actually super far from my place.Everything is very flavourful and they have many sauces so every option is a good one!We have many good vegan Vietnamese places in Berlin but I think this is the best one!

Everything I've ordered has been delicious. Their full meals are decent sized portions, maybe a bit on the small side. They come with a variety of items all in one box, including some fresh vegetables that are very nice.
Read moreI like that everything fits into one box. The box itself is paper, but it's lined with a thin layer of plastic. Most of their bowls have some water/soup in them, so I imagine it would be hard to go 100% biodegradable.
But I encourage management to research and try soy-based wax paper with a high hydrostatic head instead of plastic lining.
I'm only removing two stars because the plastic lining really is incredibly thin, but vegan restaurants really need to set an example by going 100% biodegradable with their packaging.
If you're in the area and choose vegan to reduce your ecological footprint, I recommend going to YoYos (1 block east) instead of 1990 vegan living. YoYo's packaging is 100% biodegradable, and it's a bit cheaper than 1990s.

I have to be honest... I don’t know what the hype is about. It was okay, but we couldn’t finish our food because we found the flavours unpleasant. The dishes were overly sweet. Even the fried springrolls tasted sweet. It seemed all the dishes have the same flavour spectrum, no spicy, sour, umami etc. I did like the stir fried vegetables. Maybe we just ordered the wrong kind of dishes.

Incredible Vietnamese food - Edit
This place offers absolutely incredible all-vegan Vietnamese food! You can either choose from a few main dishes or from a wide range of small bowls and then add rice, red rice or noodles which is perfect for sharing. I recommend you going with more people so everyone can try everything. The staff was very friendly and quick and the food was fresh and hot. However, it tends to get really cramped in here so make sure to place reservation before going.
