Worth every penny

We went to 8ablish for dinner and tried to dinner set menu with a range of starters, a salad, a pasta or main dish and two small desserts. Yes - this is a pricey option as you pay 4,500 or 6,000 for the tasting menu (depending on menu chosen). However, for the incredible flavours, the creativity and the quality of the food and service the price is very understandable. Worth every penny if you're looking for high end, creative plant based food.

Pros: Creativity , Service , Flavours

Cons: Not for those on a budget

Fancily delicious

We decided to celebrate a birthday with some 4AJ All-Stars at 8ablish in Omotesandō, and we were really glad we did.

We went for the 4000 yen course menu. I had heard that the portions can be small here, but we left quite satisfied. Every dish was exquisitely prepared and plated.

I give them bonus points for allowing each diner to choose their own main dish, instead of making everyone at the table choose the same thing. The souvlaki I chose was so good, with tzatziki sauce that tasted just like how I remembered it.

The service was fantastic, with the server deftly dealing with our party of eight and keeping water glasses refilled. The only thing I didn’t like was the volume— loud music and stone floors and walls meant we had to shout to be heard.

8ablish may be a little pricey, but it’s definitely worth it. Go!

Great food, nice atmosphere

The food was great: tasty, beautifully presented... we had vegan cheese with fig, tempeh cutlet, a delicious cheesecake... I also brought back a chocolate muffin which was amazing. Expensive, but it's worth it!

Pros: Delicious, Atmosphere

Cons: A bit pricey

The best vegan lunch I had in Tokyo

Loved this restaurant. The best vegan lunch I had in Tokyo with delicious desert carrot cake and well made espresso. Recommended.

Excellent food!

Very nice restaurant with great service. We ordered 2 lunch menus: The Souvlaki and the Sandwich. Both were absolutely mindblowing - take away soy ice cream for dessert. The atmosphere is great! Highest recommendation

Beautiful cuisine

Special lunch course was 2500 yen (appetizer, soup, salad, main and dessert). The volume was good and the soup of beetroot was very tasty and creamy. They also sell some vegan goods including vegan detergents and fresh vegetables.

Pros: All vegan menu, Clean dining and restroom

Cons: A little bit small

A bit pricey, but high quality

I visited for lunch. Service was great, as was the food.

Kombucha Pinacolado without alcohol: nice, but I don't know enough about cocktails to give an educated opinion.

Marinated beets with yogurt + Zucchini sukapeche: the beets are ok, quite regular I'd say; the zucchini was pretty great!

Soup: well, it's soup. Nothing much to say.

Salad: same as the soup. Less liquid though.

Souvlaki: I hadn't had Greek food since my something like 2 years. For my first plant based try at it, it's a total success! The tsaziki was as good as the real stuff, the skewers were not fake meaty but their own thing, and very tasty.

Pistachio cream cake: plain awesome. No one would guess there's no animal stuff in this. Want more!

Pros: Dishes you don't find elsewhere., Cute and spacious.

Cons: Small portions.

One of the best vegan restaurants I’ve ever been to!!!

8ablish has a delicious menu, charming atmosphere, and friendly helpful staff! Definitely one of my favorite vegan restaurants I’ve been to worldwide - a little pricey but worth it at least once if you’re in Tokyo!!

I had the tofu-stuffed tortellini which was great, as was the ice cream with bergamot oil I had for dessert. The fig and nut cheese tartine starter was heavenly. Not a bad choice on the menu in my opinion!

Pros: Great food, Atmosphere, Staff

Cons: A little pricey

Good, stylish

Came here to dinner on my own. They have quite a large selection of dishes and wine. They also seems to over daily a menu of the day consisting of a lunch sandwich, main course for dinner and a dessert. Had as an entree hummus with homemade pita bread which was okay. As main I had the dish of the day which was spaghetti with vegetables in tomato sauce. As I craved for more western food it was really tasty. I payed around ¥2400 which I find quite expensive but considering the decor and jazz music I understand. I would come eat here again but with a friend to share a bottle of wine by the occasion.

Pros: All vegan food , Fresh vegetables

Cons: A bit pricey

Yawn - small portions, not fun, “too salady” and very expensive

This place is very cool and well decorated, with beautifully presented food. The menu is good, but as a vegan it’s quite obvious that serving organic brown and rice and green leaves isn’t really going to cut it for many people - especially with the expensive prices they charge. Although this is perhaps a little assumptive, the place seems to attract wealthy people who are watching their health - not a bad thing, but might give you an idea of the vibe. I personally prefer fun vegan food this is more experimental with the limited options we have.

Pros: Well designed place, pretty, good for a date , Very healthy food, beautifully presented. The ice , They have a small shop area

Cons: Staff were strangely inattentive - we hung around , Expensive for what seems to be “obvious” vegan foo, Not fun, perhaps a little too “western fine dining

Tasty but tiny (portions)

I visited the place with my colleagues for lunch. The food was very tasty and the place is nicely decorated. We had the daily special, which was a tempeh schnitzel, veggie soup, a salad and a side of either bread or brown rice. I took bread as it can be hard to find it vegan in Japan. The only thing I did not quite like is the typically Japanese portion size - I was not hungry afterwards but I was not fully satisfied either. It's a pity, especially as the prices are rather high. I paid around 1500 yen for the special plus 800 yen for the daily dessert, which also was tiny.

Pros: quality of food, nice atmosphere

Cons: portion sizes

Great place around Omotesando

Went there because of a recommendation of a lady I met at another vegan restaurant. It’s quite a fancy place, really pretty and has a nice atmosphere. The food was also really delicious, I had the sandwich of the day and loved their hummus. Also ordered an ice cream which didn’t really impressed me though the toppings (mainly the nutty nuts) were delicious!

Classy Atmosphere & Vegan Food

This place has a really nice, upscale vibe (I love the exterior design in particular- it’s quite a first impression). I wasn’t blown away by the food, however. I had the slovaki plate for lunch, and it was good (as someone else noted, the tempeh was nice!), however I didn’t feel like the flavour profile was that impressive, and I left feeling hungry. The presentation was pleasant, but at the end of the day the food itself is most important to me. I’d come back for a more special occasion or with someone I want to impress with a classy vibe, but I wouldn’t rush back for a meal on the go.

Upscale Atmosphere, Good Flavors

I went here for lunch on the weekend and it was pretty crowded. I had to wait about 15 minutes, which wasn't too bad. The atmosphere is really nice, slightly fancy. Food had good flavor, the desserts were good, too. Portions were a little small but the lunch set included a soup, salad, entree and drink for about ¥2000, which is decent.

Pros: Good Flavors, Nice Plating

Cons: Pricey for quantity, Might have to wait for a table

Expensive and posh

I popped in whilst in the area and found it difficult due to the recent change of name and location. I didnt feel like a whole meal so I got a raspberry muffin which was still just under 500 yen. The staff obviously got them it out of the freezer as when she showed me the packet, the muffin was slightly frozen. They took forever to heat it up and serve it on the plate which I wasnt expecting. And it was gluten free! Lots of yummy looking food but a bit too posh for me, I'm afraid.

Pros: yummy, lots of options, good location

Cons: healthy focused, posh , inattentive staff

Fabulous food

The food is mainly Mediterranean flavours but with a twist which meant spicy enchiladas for me and tofu/ seitan souvlaki for my other half. We loved both choices, great flavours and followed up with lemon tiramisu. Friendly and attentive service and we couldn't have had a better evening while the rain poured outside.

Above Average!

Was in the area, so I stopped in for late Sunday lunch. The daily special enchiladas were quite good! Very hot with a nice sauce and good shell. Came with salad and soup - both decent - and tea for about 2000円. A little pricy but not enough to deter me from coming back. Lots of treats and spices and books to look at on your way out.
I'd recommend this place. In fact, I'm doing so right this moment!

Pros: Food was good quality, Pretty good atmosphere, Prompt service

Cons: On the pricy side, If you don't do the specials, options are limited
