Outstanding neighborhood place with cozy atmosphere

This place is fantastic. We stopped in on a blustery and cold evening after a new friend (local) recommended it to us and were not disappointed. The atmosphere is very pre tech boom Berlin, with some old DDR furniture and vintage lamps and such. They have a super cozy back room with good lighting and low music, which we had all to ourselves for the first part of our delicious meal.

The staff was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu, advising on spice level and other things. They make an outstanding green chile sauce that can be added to stuff to kick it up a bit. I got the tinda chola pumpkin curry which was super tasty with a little sharpness and good heat. Salad had pickled onions and good subtle dressing, not overpowering or drenched. My wife got the palak panir, which was also super tasty, obviously made with fresh spinach, not frozen or premade anything. Paneer was perfectly prepared, crisped edges and balanced saltiness. Also got the homemade chai, made very traditional and they have several options for sweetness if you want. All items have a vegan option alternate, it’s clear vegan vs vegetarian is not an afterthought for chef.

We ended up staying for a long time and got drinks after the meal because the atmosphere was so good for such a night, and chatted briefly with our table neighbors, asking about what they got - banana curry (house specialty), also pumpkin curry - all crowd pleasers.

All in all, we will be visiting often, our new fave neighborhood discovery.

Pros: Stellar food, all made from scratch, Atmosphere is super inviting, cozy back room, Very knowledgeable staff

Mango Lassi & Pixelated Passion

This place runs on pixelated vegetables, mango lassi, and pure bloody vegan passion. It's unpretentious, digitally enabled, and has super friendly people. The backroom is perfect to escape the hustle and bustle of Berlin, sink into an armchair, and just enjoy the service, food, and the comfortable surroundings.

Pros: Pixelated everything , Vegan döner , Passionate, friendly people

Awesome music, mango lassi, and dessert

I really liked the vibe indoors with colored lights and art. The best thing was the music. It was primarily chill, modern pop like daft punk and tame impala. Very nice playlist. The service was friendly.

I had the döner and it was good. I also had a big mango lassi and it was amazing. Probably the best mango lassi that I've had. I also had the chocolate mousse dessert and it was amazing as well.

Great place!

Authentic community spot

I love places like this: down to earth, authentic, run by passionate people. I came with a large group and the team was so helpful in the organisation, great communication and welcoming on the day. The menu is relatively compact, yet I still struggled to decide whether I want to try the kevab or curry. In the end I decided on the curry combo, which included a side salad. Since the banana curry I had read about was not available, I chose the chickpea one. It was delicious and a big portion. The Chili sauce on the side had a good kick. If I had not gobbled down the big portion, I would have liked to have a mango lassi for dessert. Guess I will have to come again to try that and the kevab 😀

It was okay

The food was pretty good (I had a potato curry), and not too expensive if you remove the extras. I would've given it 4 stars if that was all I'd ordered. However, the mango lassi was really not great, and it was a struggle to even finish it, so I'm knocking off one star.

Love this place

I've been eating here often since they opened, years ago. (Yet, somehow neglected to write a Happy Cow review, till now.) The menu has two halves: one side vegetarian, and the other side the same, but vegan. But the Mango Lassi is always vegan, and super thick and wonderful. I've eaten everything vegan on the menu, like it all a lot. But my personal favorites are the Banana Curry and Palak Soja. Their Daal is also really nice. And their Schokola dessert (chocolate mousse) is always way worth eating (even if you're full, which you will be, since their portions are big). They always have specials, which they rotate through. The Brussel Sprouts Curry, when that is offered, is another of my favorites. Tonight I had the Red Bell Pepper Curry, which was very satisfying, as always.

I find the atmosphere very comfortable. It is very Berlin, with tables and chairs that don't match, cool art on the walls, and plenty of (non-flashing) colored LEDs for mood. There is always music, at a moderate level, in the background.

The staff is almost always happy and friendly and welcoming (which, unfortunately, isn't always the case at all places in Berlin).

It's totally fine to hang out and converse during and after your meal.

Highly recommended.

Super yummie and nice people

We went there and got a table and the card real fast. We asked about the food items and got a good info. Also the food came fast and was really delicious. They brought extra chili for us and told us, we could ask for more. There is a left and a right side on the menu, the right side is all vegan. Left side all vegetarian.

Would recommend highly, authentic interior and people.

Pros: Food, Ambiente, Beer choices

Great food, friendly people

We shared a small dal soup as a starter, which appeared to be a big bowl. After that we had a very delicious banana curry and special curry. We enjoyed the cosy place and friendly staff. Ofcourse we didn't think of asking for the 2 euro discount. The prices are well deserved.

Fantastic curry

I really loved their curry. Not afraid to make it spicy, which to be honest is hard to find in Germany!

Great and affordable Indian food

The restaurant is a bit out of the city centre, though also next to a bus stop. It offers a clearly divided vegetarian and vegan menu with many choices. I had a chola and it was great, not the best I had but way above mediocre, maybe also considering the prices. Main courses are 11-14 euro, including the rice and salad on the dish. They had three choices of dessert, of one which was vegan, but a very good chocolate mousse with chocolate chunks and vegan whipped cream.

4 stars for the good food and one star for affordability and its good intentions!

Pros: Good vegan food, Affordable

Really tasty but not top notch

The curry here was great and the place has a political stance which I love. I do prefer a traditional Indian restaurant though, it just feels more authentic. But there non in this area afaik, so it's a good choice. I would love for them to become vegan though cos they basically just serve all dishes either with dairy cream or vegan cream if I read correctly and that really doesn't make a huge difference then.

Delicious Food and the most lovely place and people!

Delicious Food and the most lovely place and people!

The food was delicious, both vegan dishes we had were so tasty and the Mousse au chocolat was amazing!

The prices are super fair and the place is super cute and cozy, they are very solidarisch and have flyers and petitions lying around to support the good and stop the bad. They really care for a better world and you feel and taste that!

The staff is super sweet and it just makes me happy to live in Berlin for places like this. If you want to have some vegan Indian food with a good spirit you should go (or order) here!

Pros: Delicious Food, lovely place with a good spirit, seet staff

Great food, greenwashing marketing

The food was great, and if you read their website, you'll want to just donate to them even without food because they sound like such an amazing organization.

During COVID-19, none of the restaurants in Berlin are allowed to open, except for take-away. I'm only in Berlin for a short time, but it drives me mad how much trash most restaurants will force you to dispose just to get food from them. Therefore, we were really excited to see that they listed this on their website:

> Optionally, a politically correct delivery-collective will bring all food & drinks in an ecological packaging to your front door.

I assumed that the option meant for all deliveries because there was no such option when placing the order on their website.

We were very upset to see that all of our food was delivered with a plastic bag, and all the biodegradable containers had plastic lids. Is it really so hard to just use (wax) paper takeaway containers so everything can just be 100% biodegradable?

The food was fantastic, but it really speak about your credibility when you advertise one thing and deliver something else.

Pros: Delicious, Authentic Indian Food, Checkout lets you choose how spicy/picante

Cons: Greenwashing (false "eco-friendly" advertising), Plastic bags and packaging, Not 100% vegan

Best Indian in Berlin

Super delicious, this is the best curry I've had in Berlin! They didn't have any breads when we went and the service was a little slow but the curry made up for it - it was so insanely good!!!

Pros: Clearly marked vegan menu, Delicious

Cons: Slow service
