After a rather disappointing lunch experience nearby, this place saved the day! The Boston cream donut was amazing and I stuffed it into my face so fast I wish I had gotten several. I also had the maple-glazed donut, which was delightful. Will come back and eat inside, next time. Great atmosphere, lovely staff-and deliciousness! Thanks Dun-Well D!

Okay doughnuts, nice shop - Edit
The shop had a nice vibe and is just opposite Champs Diner. The person working there was nice enough but not overly friendly.
Read moreThe doughnuts themselves were okay, but ones I've had elsewhere were a lot better. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back, but if I was in the area I would go for a fresh doughnut.

This place is great! The doughnuts were amazing, lighter and tastier than a non vegan option of yore. Reinforcing the idea that really everything can be made at least as amazing in vegan. The ambiance is great and there is plenty of space for all. They have plenty of coffee and ice cream options that I will definitely be trying at my next stop. My favorite were the PBJ and the Homer!

O-K Donuts - Edit
The doughnuts aren't bad, just not really feeling them as much as I'd like to. The shop is pretty empty & cold but overall a cute place. Just wish the doughnuts were tastier & a little less sweet.

The mother ship - Edit
After trying the shop in Manhattan I just had to make the trek out to the main store in Brooklyn. My efforts were rewarded. This shop is actually a cafe with take out and so is much larger than the satellite shop in the East Village. Additionally, the doughnut selection is larger and perhaps a bit fresher. They also offer hot and cold beverages and vegan gelato. A wonderful spot for vegan indulgence. I hope to see more shops opening around the city soon!

Love this little shop - Edit
We were in this beautiful city during 4th of July and got hungry. Actually we wanted to try out a different vegan restaurant but they were closed. So very hangry we walked and walked on our way to the east river for the fireworks when I suddenly noticed this little doughnut shop on the right in just the same street. I read about this already on social media and I was like "vegan heaven sent you!!!!". Literally! The girl with the tattoos was the cutest person I met and she gave me so many New Yorker vegan insider tipps I will need to check out the next time.
Read moreI have to admit I am not a doughnut lover actually. But I was hungry and curious. So I ordered the three minis and a peanut butter ice cream.
OMG!!! This ice cream is just delicious!!!! I love it!
There was another girl in the store and she told me she is thrilled about the mini homer doughnut - pink sugar with sprinkles. I didn't like it at all. Way too sweet and artificial for me, but hey even vegans have different kind of taste. But as a non doughnut fan I still liked the mini cinnamon and the mini chocolate. My favorite is still the ice cream though :-) will come back next time definitely!
By the way, in my view the area there just reminds me so much of Berlin. It could be some place in Friedrichshain or Kreuzberg.
Pros: owner is the nicest person, ice-cream!!!, Berlin style

Amazing. - Edit
The doughnuts here are just perfect. There's always a huge selection and all the ones I've tried have been delicious, light and fluffy. No dense heavy pastry to be found here. I am forever recommending this place to people that visit Brooklyn!

There's a reason Dun-well is so popular, it's AMAZING. The donuts are fresh and the flavours are inventive and fun. My wife surprised me with the Homer donut for my birthday last week and it was the highlight of my day.

Well done Dun-well - Edit
Quite good donuts, though we didn't get to try many flavors since we visited just before closing on a Sunday evening. The chocolate & maple topped doughnuts were very tasty, fluffy & moist. Even good the next day. Not the best I've had, but definitely in the top five.
Read moreFriendly service. Cute retro feel to the place. On street parking, not a problem because of the lateness of the day. Bike racks outside.
No public bathroom, though; downer to the visit, especially since we drove over after having spent most of the day at the Smorgasburg event at Prospect Park. Looking forward to my next visit to NY, & trying more of their flavors.

Best donuts ever - Edit
We have tried many donuts and these are the best. Enjoyed the peanut butter and jam filled donut with chocolate and the toasted coconut. Super light and fluffy without being too sweet. Better than Voodoo Donuts by a long shot! Definitely worth a visit to Brooklyn!! Even Bill Clinton was here last week.

Very Dissapointed - Edit
Dunwell Doughnuts was meant to be the highlight of our trip to NYC. I was looking forward to eating there more than anything. After watching the amazing, warm, and friendly video on their website I was expecting an experience... and it was one, just not a good one as I had anticipated. My disappointment started with the owner of the place smoking in front of the building when we showed up. Not a good idea at all and immediately turned me off. Heading inside the staff member was not exactly rude, but not exactly friendly either. You could sense her annoyance as we figured out what we wanted to have. That takes a little time when you have three young kids, and where I expected a smile, I received annoyed indifference instead. The really bad part was that she was actually friendly to some locals who came in after us. Shouldn't all customers be treated with the same hospitality? Anyway, the doughnuts were good, I'll give them that, but not out of this world. I actually prefer the one's Cinnamon Snail has to offer and you don't have to make a trip out to Brooklynn to get them. Seriously, these dudes talk a big game, but really failed to deliver. The product is there, but they need to work on customer service and impressions.

Great Little Bakery/Coffee Shop - Edit
Dun-Well is an adorable vintage inspired coffee/donut shop in Brooklyn, NY. The atmosphere is relaxing and there is plenty of self serve seating if you want to take a few moments to sit and enjoy your coffee and donuts or work on your computer. The donuts and tea I had were reasonably priced and very tasty. The donuts were more on the cakey side but the flavors were very nice and the portions were good even on the small donuts. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I would definitely come back to Dun-Well!

I love the donuts at Dun-Well! They have great flavors and the donuts are nice and fluffy. My favorite are the custard filled donuts but they don't have those every day. The donuts are adored by many non-vegans I've taken, as well. They also have coffee, cappuccino and tea available.

My favourite spot in NYC - Edit
Dun-Well Doughnuts may be my favourite spot in NYC. The vibe inside, with the decorations and music, are awesome, and the doughnuts are simply incredible. We got 4 different ones just to try them all. The coffee was also great, and they offered a selection of 3 different non-dairy milks, with a few different sweeteners, including bee-free honey.

BEST DONUTS EVERY!!!!! - Edit
I traveled all the way from CT (2 hour drive) to taste one of these donuts. They were amazing. By far the best donuts I have ever had. They are fried to perfection and there is just the right amount of glaze on it. I left with 6 donuts and ate them all within 24 hours. There was only one donut that I wasn't a fan of and that is the Boston cream but other than that everything was perfect.
