At the recommendation of a local resident, my husband and I anxiously anticipated breakfast at Early Girl. However, in response to the hostess' total mishandling of the restaurant's own procedure for adding customers to the breakfast seating wait list, we felt compelled to walk out and eat elsewhere.

What happened? — As we were entering the restaurant to be seated, two women physically pushed me aside and gave their names to the hostess for the waiting list. When I mentioned this to the hostess, she said that the two women had been in earlier and removed their names from the wait list, but changed their mind and decided to come back after all. But I guess they decided that they were so special that they could knock anyone over in their path, so they could get back at the top of the list.

An appropriate response by the hostess should have been seating customers who were ahead of the two women FIRST, explaining that since they left earlier without waiting to be seated, their return CERTAINLY did not qualify them for "priority" seating preference.

Moreover, the rudeness of the two women was REWARDED by their poor behavior, while our appropriate behavior was totally disregarded!! As much as we love Asheville and have enjoyed our frequent visits over the years, we will NEVER cross the doorstep of this restaurant….no matter how good their food!

FYI, I recommend Posana Cafe for excellent food AND SERVICE — organic, local, gluten free dining at its finest. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!
