Don’t miss it! - Edit
Lovely spot in Mayfair for a nice veg lunch! It’s a sort of canteen vibes but if you are looking for a quick cheap eat in London is absolutely the place to go!

Great value for money - Edit
This was my second trip to Govindas. As before, the food was excellent value and very tasty - £6.95 for rice, dahl, a side of veg curry, chopped salad and a pappadom. Wish there were more places like this (and Thenga in Judd Street) like this in London. Basic food well cooked and reasonably priced.

Great for thali whatever your appetite size! - Edit
Great value thali, you choose how many small dishes you want e.g. 5 dishes for about £6, 8 dishes for £10, so great for lighter lunch or substantial dinner depending on how you feel. My selection included the two non-descript veg curries of the day - both very tasty but they were the only two vegan curries available.

Govinda's - Edit
You can never go wrong with a Govinda's! This location is conveniently located off of Oxford street and is a great place to grab a quick meal with your friends or by yourself. I went during lunch and had a wonderful set plate that came with dal, a vegetable curry, rice, lettuce, and some bread. IT WAS DELICIOUS. Highly recommended for a casual meal.

Fast and efficient service, good food! - Edit
They have very good buffet options - the lentil soup was delicious, the same applies for the curry and the vegetables. The mint lemonade was very yummy!

No good vegan curries - Edit
It is very frustrating to see that Govindas added a big “vegan” sign in front of the restaurant but never veganised their curries. Vegans have just one option of curry while vegetarians have the best curries (3 more options).

Blissful Vegan Nosh - So Good! - Edit
We've been going to Govinda's Pure (lacto-) Vegetarian Restaurant in Soho Street for decades, and try to go there every time we are in London, or even just passing through. We are never disappointed, and since we went vegan some years back, Govinda's has continued to provide. On our most recent visit my partner chose the set thali, while I elected to customize my meal from the variety of well-marked vegan options. Portions are generous and very reasonably priced, especially when you consider that this is the heart of London. We rounded our meal off with some delicious vegan cake. The staff were super-helpful and friendly, and the atmosphere is very calming and spiritual, like an oasis in this very busy part of the capital.

Delicious! - Edit
Vegan options were clearly marked and the staff knew exactly which dishes and treats were vegan. They serve dairy products like mango lassi, paneer and cheesecakes.
Read moreThe food was tasty and filling. My husband is an athlete and he could have eaten a bit more, but he's always a big eater.
So, the veggie thali was 7 pounds, samosas and drinks (except water) were a few pounds extra.
Pros: Delicious food, Friendly staff, Cheap-ish
Cons: Loud, Crowded!

Great! - Edit
Authentic Indian cooking. Staff are really friendly and helpful in explaining what is vegan and what is vegetarian. Really tasty and different compared too your average 'curry house'. Will be back!

Great food, even better prices - Edit
My boyfriend and I shared the biggest sized vegan thali to share between us and were both very full once we'd finished. The food is pretty good (not the best Indian in London), but the value is incredible. Very generous portions and relatively low cost. I would definitely recommend if you're in the area.

Amazing food! - Edit
I went with my husband and asked for the Govinda's - a twelve item Thali. The service was excellent. I asked if the dishes were all vegan. There was one which wasn't, but they let me replace it with a vegetable curry at no additional cost. The food is really good! I will got back for more.

I have been visiting Govinda's for many years and it's only getting better!
Read moreThe recent refurb looks great and the quality of food is always high.
For under a tenner you can eat a hearty filling meal, choosing healthy options as well as a not so healthy cheesy lasagne (something to please everyone). Right on Soho square, it's a great location to pop in to and they accept card and cash which is handy.
A veggie restaurant but also with vegan options, the entire ethos is wonderful and I highly recommend going and trying it out!
Pros: Affordable, Delicious Options, Location
Cons: Could have more toilets

One of the best in vegetarian restaurants in London. - Edit
Chipotle for the vegetarian. Fairly priced thaalis, though service could be a bit better. Quick pick what you want and pay for it.
Read moreLimited options for vegans, however the other comment is untrue, they do not use any eggs at all. They are a karmic diet focused restaurant and have tasty food. Some of their dishes are focused on paneer, so just let them know you are vegan. Also, not sure why the other comment say's they had soup, last I remember, that wasn't even an option on the menu.
Excellent food overall!
Pros: Excellent food, Good Value, 100% Pure Vegetarian
Cons: Finding seating (sometimes busy)

Not so Vegan.. - Edit
I visited Govinda after becoming Vegan and all I managed to eat was soup and a very expensive salad!
Read moreMilk and eggs are in mains and desserts, what a shame as soya milk could easily be used and nobody would know the difference!
The prices have gone up a bit and I was charged extra for salads and raw veg as everything else looked suspicious..
It used to be one of my favourites but now I think I am over it. Shame

This place is great, really tasty food served super quick and not far off the beaten track. The only thing that misses the 5* honour is that the food could be a little warmer when served. Small thali for £6.50 is a winner though!
