This place...ROCKS!

Had the time to stop by this place today and LOVED IT! Got the Rock n Roll Noddle and the Spring Rolls. Both, so delicious. Highly recommend!

American Breakfast!

This restaurant has two of my favorite kinds of food but as vegan options, it's hard to get much better than this! Vegan American breakfast can be really hard to find, especially at this quality and price.

Pros: So many options!, American breakfast, Cheap

Extensive menu and nice food

The menu is huge, which depending on how indecisive you are, can be a great or a terrible thing. I liked that there were a lot of options, but I did struggle to pick what to eat. In the end, we ordered the spring rolls, the Kung Pao Noodle, the classic hash brown and the Thai iced tea.
The Thai iced tea was really good, everything else was nice but nothing out of this world.
In terms of price, it's on par with other vegan restaurants in LA, not cheap but also not super expensive.
I'd go back to try some of their other options

Nothing special

While the menu is extensive, the flavor was just okay. We ordered the fresh rolls, curry noodle dish, and pad Thai.

Chicken and pancakes!

I really liked my order of chicken and pancakes. My friend opted for the pineapple fried rice, which wasn't nearly as nice, but still pretty good.

Would easily return and try other things on the menu.

Great menu, tasty food

This place has a fairly extensive menu of various Asian dishes and some Western ones. I got the cashew "chickn" and yellow Thai curry, both of which were very tasty. I also got a nice Thai tea, which is a hard thing to find vegan IMO.

Pros: Large Menu, Reasonable Prices

Come for the tasty pancakes!

I have come here quite alot since moving to the area, and ive had several items on the menu. I like the variety, but i always come back for the pancakes! I think these are the stars of the menu because i havent had anyother vegan pancakes like them. They're the perfect diner pancakes, so tasty and you can get them with fried soy chicken too. I would say pass on their coffee, while in the past, they seemed to be brewing their own, the last time i went it tasted suspiciously like instant coffeee. They will bring you a side of soy milk at no extra charge though, so thats cool. Sevice is also very good.

Pros: Good prices, Great pancakes, Lots of options

Cons: Instant coffee

Good Food at Reasonable Prices

Few years ago they went through renovation and it is has a clean wood really organic feel. Waiter is friendly and the food is good. Not sure if too many are organic though but very reasonably priced and my hubby and I always love dining in!

Pros: Good food, reasonable prices, nice renovation few years ago

Cons: little to no organic , very common LA menu items

Lots of options

I liked that they had so many options, breakfast food, like pancakes, Thai food (I had the spicy eggplant with tofu), and my 5 year old ordered the Satay chicken. They also had burgers and burritos on the menu! No complaints here😄

Pros: Good variety, Good service, Fast

Rock 'n' Roll Thai Vegan

With a subtle red sign that you might hit another car while you're looking for it at 11 at night (don't worry, I braked in time), Green Leaves is a nice break from all the other Thai vegan restaurants with its seven guitars, Fender speakers, keyboard, drum sets, big flat screens, strobe lights, and Guitar Hero in the waiting area. There's also some Christmas light icicles and tinsel up which seems to be have lazily left up one year, but kept up ironically ever since.

And ya gotta love dishes with names like Jazz Noodles, Pho Funky, and C-Minor Chicken. My friend and I opt for the Cha Cha Pumpkin (with Soy Beef) and the Signature Rock & Roll Noodle (with Soy Chicken).

The signature Rock & Roll Noodles were a comforting by being spicy but not too spicy and having a generous amount of sprouts and bell peppers. The tofu in it was perfectly cooked. However, even though the soy chicken tasted rockin', it wasn't a very attractive. Beware, this dish is a little greasy...but I was in the mood for it, so it was welcomed.

The bigger surprise was the creative Cha Cha Pumpkin. Weird to think that pumpkin could be so good in a stir fry. My friend felt that the dish was a little overly soft in texture and could use more crunchy accents such as more cashews and maybe some of the bean sprouts that were snapping in my mouth from the Rock & Roll Noodles. He did love the Wild Rice as he loves being able to eat rice without soy sauce.

This place has been given "$$" which is unfair, because only one of the dishes is $10.95 and everything else is under $10. I almost didn't go because I was afraid I was going to see $18 menu items, so don't let that stop you from checking this neat little place out.

Pancakes!

We both got the tropical pancakes with chicken and they were so good! The pancakes were fluffy and light, and I'm not sure what they used for the "chicken" but it was fried to perfection. My husband had an order of hashbrowns, which he loved, and I got a vegan thai tea! It was an inexpensive meal and our waiter was attentive and friendly. Not health food for sure, but satisfied our comfort food craving! There are lots of other things on the menu I would love to try.

Pros: great pancakes, inexpensive, extensive menu

my favorite go-to spot

Green Leaves is a great place for any craving from salads and soups to noodles and faux meats (which taste awesome here). My boyfriend and I eat here at least once a week, if not more. They're open late and deliver until 11pm! We like that we can order a bunch of sides and make a smorgasbord of vegan heaven. Try the chicken nuggets, seitan wrap and tahini sauce!

Pros: delivery, faux meats, large menu

Good food but typical

There are a thousand of this place around LA.

The food is good, and the staff is knowledgeable about veganism for the most part, but it's nothing surprising or worth going very far to get. It's mostly the same menu as a lot of the other Thai-veg places around LA, excluding Bulan.

That being said, if you're in the area, it's a decent veg restaurant, and street parking isn't all that hard to find.

Note: if you're not a HUGE fan of onions, ask them to go light on some of the breakfast dishes.

Pros: All-vegetarian

Cons: Not unique

Okay

I had read about this place on happycow and have eaten here a few times. Here's my Green Leaves Silverlake review.

I've eaten the tofu scramble and hash brown plate, (fried) chicken burger, shitake mushroom curry, mushroom and tofu burger, red curry, tom yum soup, and maybe a couple other dishes.

Overall, the food taste is average each time. The tofu scramble was too salty, and the shitake curry was very boring and bland. The rice that was served with the curry, however, was a red kind and was very tasty.

This is a decent place for a quick bite of veg food.

Pros: cheap prices, large menu, all veg

Cons: food taste could be improved

Best veggie sandwich anywhere

The vegetable sandwich is so tasty. I also really like topping it with peanut sauce.
I have fashioned every vegetable sandwich I've ever made since to try to match it.

The only negative aspect of eating there is the distracting televisions.

Pros: fantastic food, affordable, healthy

Cons: televisions

Worst veggie meal I have had in a while

I ate at Green Leaves the other day. Please save your money and go to veggie restaurant with better food. I ordered Broccoli with veggie fish. I have been a vegan for years, and have had loads great veggie fish dishes in LA (Monterey Park / Alhambra area has loads of great places. There were about 9 pieces of broccoli, and about 8 tiny cut pieces of veggie fish. Anyone reading this could make a better dish. The atmosphere is ok, but the food I had was below average.

Pros: Atmosphere, Waiting staff is nice

Cons: Food

not vegan

i would advise vegans to stay away from green leaves. for years they have been lying about their soy cheese, insisting they use follow your heart and even keeping a small package of FYH to show customers who ask about it. in reality, they use cheese that contains casein and is not suitable for vegans. it would be one thing if they accidentally used non-vegan ingredients, and then changed their ways...but green leaves has been blatantly lying to people. i will never eat there again, because i think they have been taking advantage of the vegan community.

Cons: dishonest, non-vegan

Soooo good!

The menu can be overwhelming so we opted for breakfast when we visited. I ordered a Combo B, hubby had the Combo D, and we split an order or pancakes & chicken. It was all sooooo good! We happily finished everything in front of us. The breakfast wraps were chock full of goodness, mine with egz, "cheese", sweet potatos (yum!) and other bits of heaven while hubby's was stuffed w/seitan & lentil loaf & deliciousness. The pancakes taste like "real" pancakes which was pretty amazing and the "chicken" was sinfully good. Service was prompt and friendly. Dinner was quite affordable. Definately making the trek out here again soon!

Pros: Extensive Menu, All Day Breakfast, Late Hours

Decent vegan food

The wraps are consistently good and the service is very prompt. I like the pancakes and "eggz" too. However, the stir fries and curries are mediocre at best.

Pros: prompt, consistent , great wraps

Cons: stir fries not very good

not my favorite

I like the place mostly because of the interior design - it just looks cool. The food was okay - garlic seitan chicken was not bad, but we did not like their Pad Thai (it was bright orange, overcooked, and tasted weird). I will go there sometimes to support them, but not often.
